"Anya, thanks again for letting me ride up with you." Clarke stated from the back seat, sandwiched between the two Mendoza sisters. "Mom tried to get another doctor to cover her conference, but no such luck."
"You're always welcome Clarke, you know that." Anya said as she switched lanes. "I know she hated she couldn't be here too but she told me to take a lot of pictures so…sorry in advance." Clarke chuckled.
"It's fine."
"Besides, I'm sure if you didn't ride with us we'd just have to hear Lexa complain about not being able to see you every five minutes." Raven added.
"Remind me why you had to come?" Lexa grumbled towards her sister.
"Hey, it's not every day my sister starts college. I wanted to see you off."
"Are you sure it's not because your girlfriend wanted to help her best friend move into her dorm?"
"Maybe, but can you blame me? As soon as she steps foot onto campus every man, woman, and child will be fighting over themselves to get to her. So I need to be there to beat them off with my stick." Raven stated seriously and Octavia and Clarke snorted while Lexa rolled her eyes.
"I think you're over exaggerating a bit babe." Octavia turned in her seat in front.
"Tell that to my stick." Again the girls chuckled.
"It's in the trunk, she made us bring it." Lexa deadpanned and both O and Clarke's eyes widened.
"You're kidding." Clarke said and Lexa let out a humorless chuckle.
"I wish I were."
"You're ridiculous." Octavia told her girlfriend.
"And you are ridiculously hot, so I regret nothing."
"Ugh, you're impossible to be mad at too when you say stuff like that."
"Part of my charm baby." Raven winked and O blew her a kiss.
"Did you bring a stick to beat people off of me?" Clarke asked Lexa, a little jealous that Raven went to such lengths, even if logically she knew they were ridiculous. Lexa rolled her head along the back of the seat to look at Clarke with an exasperated look.
"Are you actually jealous of my sister's psychotic behavior?"
"Maybe." Clarke challenged but it was Octavia who answered.
"I'm pretty sure that huge hickey on your neck is Lexa's metaphorical stick."
"What!?" Clarke yelled as she leaned forward to look in the rearview mirror. She turned her slightly to the left and gasped when she saw it. She turned to Lexa who was smirking. "You jerk!" She smacked her arm. "Why didn't you tell me!?" Clarke turned bright red, she now knew why her mother and Gus gave her such knowing looks yesterday when she went to hug them to say goodbye.
"Better than any stick." Lexa answered and Raven laughed.
"Ha, nice one!" She said and went for a high five whom Lexa eagerly responded. Clarke sighed and looked to the driver.
"Your children are annoying."
"I know." Anya chuckled. "Yet, you love them anyway."
"Yeah…I don't know what wrong with me?" Clarke sat back with a huff.
"You can't resist that Mendoza swag." Raven said as she put her arm around the blonde with a wink.
"Rae, stop hitting on my girlfriend while yours is literally a foot from you."
"Meh, I'm used to it." Octavia answered, unaffected.
Once they received their room assignments they were walking back to the car to so they could drive over to their dorm. "So did you guys get the same room so you can have uninterrupted sex times?" Raven asked with the wiggle of the eyebrows. Anya smacked the back of her head.
"Shut up." The older Mendoza ordered.
"We're on different floors." Clarke informed. "But at least we're in the same dorm with all the other athletes."
"I'm just happy we're in the same zip code now." Lexa stated as she put her arm over Clarke's shoulder and kissing her temple. "So do you want to unload our stuff then grab something to eat before we unpack?" She asked Clarke.
"Or we can grab something now, I'm starving." Raven complained and Lexa rolled her eyes.
"You can wait just a bit longer? We ate not too long ago at the hotel."
"That was like 3 hours ago."
"Yeah, I'm excited to see if our roommates are here yet." Clarke added.
"Fiiiiiine." Raven whined as she pouted.
They drove over to the dorms and agreed that they would meet up at the car in an hour. Both Clarke and Lexa agreed to wait to see each other's rooms until the others had left. So Octavia and Clarke each grabbed a box and headed to the third floor while Raven, Lexa, and Anya headed to the fourth.
"Well, here it is." Clarke finds dorm 314 and stuck her key in the lock only to have the door open revealing a redhead with bright blue eyes and a friendly smile.
"Oh, hi." The redhead greeted and saw the boxes each girl carrying so she stepped aside and grabbed the key out of the door once they passed. "One of you must be my roommate. I'm Chloe."
"That would be me." The blonde answered as she sat down her boxes on the unclaimed bed. "Clarke. Clarke Griffin." She answered and stuck her hand out for Chloe to shake. "This is my best friend, Octavia." Chloe shook both girls' hands.
"Are you going here too?"
"No, I'm just starting my senior year. But I had to be here for Griff's first day of college."
"O, you know classes don't officially start for another week right."
"You know what I mean." She said then turned attention to the redhead. "So Chloe, where are you from?"
"I'm from here, well about an hour away anyway. You?"
"Arizona."
"Oh, long trip."
"Yeah, we've been driving since yesterday." Clarke answered. "My girlfriend's mom drove us all up. She's is going here too."
"Oh! Mine too!" Chloe stated excitedly. "Maybe we can all go out on double dates!"
"Yeah." Clarke smiled, relieved seemed cool, and said so. "You seem like a cool chick."
"Oh, I totes am." Chloe Beale, smiled widely. "We are going to have so much fun. Ok, I have to go help Beca pack, she's my girlfriend. The only thing she probably has packed is her mixing board and glove."
"Glove?" Clarke questioned.
"Oh yeah, she plays softball."
"Oooh, me too. What about you?" Clarke was excited about meeting her new teammates.
"Oh no, I can't hit a ball to save my life." Chloe chuckled. "I play volleyball. Beca will be excited to meet some of her teammates before practice starts. Does your girlfriend play too?"
"Yeah, Lexa plays infield. And I'm a pitcher. What about Beca?"
"She primarily plays short-stop, but she also pitches too."
"Oooh, got some competition there Griff." Octavia stated, she'd been quiet letting the two roommates get to know each other a little bit.
"We're on the same team O." She said, even though she knew it was true. She was going to have to complete against other players for game time. She turned her attention back to the redhead.
"So did you have to come up by yourself?" Clarke asked, since Chloe's room was already unpacked and set up.
"Oh I've been here for a week. Beca, her sister and niece, and a few of our friends help me unpack everything last weekend. Volleyball practice started on Monday since our season starts a little sooner than yours." Chloe looked at her phone at the time. "Shoot, I'm running late. I wish I could stay and help you move but I really should go help Becs. Her sister is coming up too and we're all going to lunch."
"Yeah, of course, go." Clarke waved her off. "It was nice meeting you. I'm really glad to have a cool roommate."
"Yeah, me too!" Chloe went for a hug taking Clarke a little by surprise but she rolled with it. "Sorry I'm a hugger." Clarke chuckled.
"It's ok. I don't mind." The blonde said, and once the hug was finished Chloe went to hug Octavia.
"It was nice meeting you Octavia, hopefully we'll see each again."
"I'm sure you will. It's nice to meet you too." Chloe grabbed her keys and with a wave and a see you later she was gone.
"She seemed nice." Octavia said.
Clarke smiled, feeling relieved she got a cool roommate. "She did. Come on let's hurry and get all of my stuff up." They walked out the door. "I want to spend as much time as I can with my bestie before you guys leave." Clarke threw her arm over Octavia's shoulder as they walked down the hallway.
A/N: So it's been about 3 years since an update and a lot has happened since then. Moves, job change, divorce. But I hope to get back into writing. I've tried to write a few times but have had a bit of block, going to see if I can get these creative juices flowing again. I do want to say thank you to all that have read this story. I know there is quite a few that have followed or read my Bechloe story To Leave it All Behind. My plan is too merge the two stories, so we'll see if I can pull that off. Again thanks for reading, reviewing, and sticking with this.
