Chapter 22
With their deflector shields down to forty eight percent now the situation got more and more critical for both of them and Han couldn't help but think for a slight moment, if they were going to reach their destination in one piece. But he quickly put those thoughts to rest for now, because he really needed to focus on the task at hand: Getting rid of the last three remaining Imperial Ships that still chased them.
Jedi Training Center, Yavin IV
Luke had meanwhile finished packing a few things for the upcoming trip to his mother's homeworld and so was ready to get onto the next flight back to Coruscant to his sister's apartment. The Jedi Training Center would be in good hands during his absence, he would leave it in the very trustworthy hands of Jedi Master Ta'an Urtaresh and he was very glad that the other masters on the Jedi Council were so much understanding about the fact that he was putting his family first for now. Padme figured that she needed to buy some clothes before they would leave for Naboo, because she didn't have any spare clothes but that probably wouldn't be that big of a problem. When she looked at her son Luke she surely saw a lot of his father in him, also she surely wondered what the future would hold for them after all these years that they had been torn apart.
"Okay I'm ready to go and a ship is already waiting in the spaceport of the Training Center not far away from here." Luke finally announced to his sister and mother and grabbed his baggage while he patiently waited for their response. Padme was a little bit too occupied with her own thoughts to answer right away but as she sensed that both her children were waiting for a reply from her she quickly snapped out of her little trance and said: "That's good to know and I'm ready to go too." The three then finally left Luke's personal quarters with Master Ralkitta in tow, who wanted to escort them to the spaceport to say goodbye for now and headed for the space port near the Jedi Training Center.
On the way to the waiting ship Padme said to Jedi Master Ralkitta: "Thank you for all you've done for me Master Ralkitta, it means so much to me that you were able to help make this family reunion possible because I don't if it could have happened without your help." Of course Master Ralkitta was surely honored by what the former Senator just had said to him and after letting this sink in short he finally replied: "Your welcome Miss Amidala and I am surely more than happy to be able to help you in this case." Master Ralkitta of course wished the Skywalker Family all the best for the future, he had been able to sense through the force that Luke has already become such a powerful and wise Jedi Master thanks to the training of the great Master Yoda and he was confident that he would be able to restore the Jedi Order back to his former glory it had during the days of the Old Republic.
He also knew deep down that Leia and her mother Padme Amidala would somehow play a very important role in the future of the newly founded Republic with Corcusant being its Capital again. He was quite unsure if he wanted to be the part of this new formed Jedi Order after he had gotten used to living in exile that much in the past years but maybe he could also pass on some of his knowledge onto the next generation of Jedi Knights. He hadn't given that question that much thought so far but one way or another he would have to make a decision, no matter what decision it was he knew that this was surely one that he wouldn't take lightly one bit.
Chewie was finally able to take out two of the three remaining TIE Fighters and Han couldn't help but loudly scream as the two Imperial Ships both into two huge explosions. "Good Job Chewie now there's only no more to go." Then the deflector shields took some more hits from the last TIE Fighter but Han knew deep down that no matter how persistent that one was going to be, the last TIE Fighter would definitely suffer the same fate that the two others did.
Han pulled out all tricks out of the head to avoid further hits from the TIE Fighter and for a while the storm trooper on the helm of the last Fighter struggled quite a lot adapting to the evasive maneuvers from the Pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Very spontaneous he had an idea for the perfect maneuver to finally get rid of the last imperial ship and so he notified Chewie of his plan and after he had pointed out all the details he ended his explanation by saying: "Okay let's do this Chewie and I hope this works."
The Millennium Falcon then headed straight for the asteroid field and of course Han was very well aware of the fact that it wasn't so easy to navigate in this tight space but deep down he knew that he would definitely be able to make it work. A few more laser beams hit the deflector shields of the Falcon but he needed to keep his cool right now, even if the deflector shields were surely in a very critical state at this moment.
Orbit of Yavin IV
After they had said their goodbyes the ship, which would take them to Coruscant had finally taken off from the surface of the planet. Luke and Leia were really looking forward seeing the home world of their mother for the very first time and they also couldn't wait to catch up on the lost time because of the separation.
Naboo, Lake County
Pooja Naberrie sat alone in her big bedroom in the Naberrie Family hiding place since the start of Galactic War. She had hidden her parents Ruwee and Jobal Naberrie in this retreat to save them from getting into Imperial imprisonment.
Her first visits to the Capital of Naboo surely did have some negative effect on her psychological well being, as it really had been very hard to take that such a large part of her home world had been reduced to wreckage because of the imperial assault on the little planet but with the founding of the New Republic there surely was a reason to hope that things would change here for the better again.
