Chapter 32

Who is the father? Over and Over again that question echoed in her mind and for quite a while she had a very hard deciding what to do: On one hand she didn't know how her mother exactly would react if she would get to know that Anakin not only was the one who was the father of the child but also was the person that had put her in this life threatening situation and on the other hand she couldn't bring herself to lie to her mother no matter how bad her reaction might be to "her" Annie now . It was obvious to Jobal Naberrie that her daughter was struggling with something but before she could ask what was bothering her right at this moment so much the former Senator and Queen of Naboo said: "Anakin is the father, that young Jedi Padawan that protected me after someone had tried to make an attempt on my life but he is also the reason….you were lead to believe that I died because he betrayed the Jedi, turned to the Dark Side of the Force and hurt me in the fear of losing me."

As Padme had expected her mother was pretty shocked by that revelation, because there had been no indication what so ever that Padme and that young Jedi had been so close. But what shocked her the most was that he dared to hurt her precious daughter: Why did he do that if he didn't want to lose her? I don't understand it! This thought echoed in her mind over and over again as she hard quite a hard time to recollect herself after hearing this news but then after taking one deep breath she replied: "Why…didn't you tell me, your father or anybody else from your family that you were this close with him? Padme could see the hurt in her eyes, because of the fact that she had kept something this important from her but she choose her words carefully as she said: "The truth is that the Jedi Code forbids any form of commitment, of course I was aware of that at this time but sadly I let my heart win over my mind and it ended up with me deeply regretting it. Me and Anakin even married on Naboo right after the end of the Opening Battle of the Clone Wars, but the risk was too high that he would have been thrown out of Order and trust me when I say that it was the hardest decision to make but because I didn't want him to throw his future away we both agreed to keep it a secret." Her Mother could see some sadness show in her daughter's eyes as she said this last part of the explanation and she couldn't help but just wrap her up into a tight embrace instead of saying anything in response because she figured that she kind of needed the comfort of her mother's arms right now.

There was a quite long silence between them before Jobal said: "What I still don't understand is how you were able to survive?" Of course Padme knew in advance that this question would have came up sooner or later and the whole thing really wasn't so to explain: "The Jedi Master Ralkitta, who lived in self chosen exile for quite a while was able to secretly recover my body from Polis Massa, put me into a stasis chamber and keep me there on Entralla for a couple of years. Of course one of my first questions was why he had chosen to rescue me in the first place and in response he said that he knew from a vision that considered the future of the Galaxy that I was a big part of the plan for the New Republic. Of course I was skeptical about the whole thing too at first and don't ask me why but he has something that made me trust almost instantly into him and even if I never really was the kind of person who believed in destiny I feel obligated to do my part in this big plan for the future of this very young new government on Coruscant."

As always Jobal admired the passion that her daughter had for politics, now how dirty this business had been during her days on Naboo and as a Senator in the Galactic Senate she still had somehow managed to believe that she could change something for the better no matter how hopeless it might have seemed in this moment. Before Jobal could say something again she turned around to notice that Ruwee, her husband had entered the house without her noticing and she wasn't surprised one bit that he had been frozen to the spot where he was stand at this moment because of the person that was sitting on the other sofa in the living room. Knowing already that this would be hard for him to understand, Jobal slowly stood up from her place on the couch, motioning Padme to stay where she was for now and said as she softly put both hands on her husband's shoulders: "Trust me, I was as shocked as you when I saw her standing in front of the house and at first I thought too that this couldn't be possible because we both were at her funeral. But it's really her Ruwee, somehow even if I don't know how and why exactly this has happened we've got our daughter back and she has been saved by a Jedi Master to accomplish one very important mission." Knowing very well that all of this was a lot of information to digest at this very moment, Jobal decided to give her husband all the time that he needed to understand all this and she also couldn't wait to let the rest of family especially Sola know that this one loved family member had returned to them because of something that could only be described as a miracle.

A couple of minutes passed before Ruwee had finally pieced everything together, successfully wiping the last remains of doubt away and just wrapping up his daughter into a very tight embrace and right at this moment he couldn't let her go for quite a while because he was afraid that all this was just a dream that would end if he let go of her.
