Chapter 37

Of course Padme was looking forward to see Ryoo and Pooja again after all those years and she couldn't help but wonder what they looked like as grownups. The last time they had seen each other the two were little children who only reached up to their hip when it came to their height and it made her a little sad again that she hadn't been able to watch her niece and nephew grow up all those years but now she did have the chance to spend a lot more time with both of them. For Leia and Luke all those other people that sat in the room with them and their mother were strangers to them but they were surely looking forward getting to know their mother's family better and both were happy to have to opportunity to get to the planet better where their mother grew up.

Luke knew how difficult things must be for his mother as so much things had changed through all the years that she had spend inside of the stasis pod: Good Friends of her had died a long time ago and she also lost the one person she loved so much their father and her husband Anakin Skywalker. Of course he and his sister could sympathize with this feeling as both of them had lost people that meant so much to them: Imperial Stormtroopers had killed his replacement family Owen and Beru Lars while Leia had to witness the destruction of Aldeeran without being able to save Bail and Breha Organa. But in the end there was no use in keep thinking about the past, because with the evil Empire gone after this very long Galactic Civil War there definitely was a bright future ahead for all of them.

" Your mother was the youngest Queen ever elected on her home world and she was loved by the people that they even wanted to change the Constitution, so that her term as Queen could be extended but being modest she was all your mother stepped down at the end of her term to let the next Queen take over. "Ruwee had a big smile on his face as talked about that big accomplishment that his daughter had achieved so early in her life as only had been fourteen years old at this time.

Remembering all the talks with Bail about her mother it all made sense to Leia right at this moment: Bail Organa and his wife had taken care of her as a last sign of gratitude for their long time friend and because they knew that Padme would have wanted her daughter to fill her big footsteps in politics. She wasn't sure if she would have been able to pull this off at this young age: Being responsible for the well being of so many people on a huge planet like Naboo was so then she finally asked her mother: "Wasn't a huge burden for you to make big decisions all the time that affected the lives of so many people?"

The former Senator of course already had seen that question coming and remembering her first year of Queen, not only brought back good memories but unfortunately also some bad ones because if she was honest to herself there also had been some decisions that she regretted deeply as she looked at them later. "Of course it was a huge burden to be the Queen of Naboo at this young age, even if that definitely had been my big dream from the very beginning of my career in politics. I wanted to become Queen someday but what I didn't expect was that this day would come that quick and I honestly had some days where I second guessed myself, doubting the fact if even was ready for this huge burden to begin with or if the people had made an huge mistake by voting me into office in the first place. "Being a politician had always been her career choice from the very beginning and because of that she had joined the young legislatives on Naboo, to be able to get involved into the things that had a big impact on the everyday life of every citizen that lived on the planet.

She could remember it like it was yesterday: The Trade Federation attacking her home world and the people of Naboo had to help themselves because the Galactic Senate didn't want to help her and instead choose to discuss this Invasion in a committee. But given her vote of No Confidence against Chancellor Valorum, she helped the man into office that destroyed the Democracy in the end: Senator Palpatine, who had been sent into the Senate to represent the interests of his home world but instead he slowly but surely transformed the Democracy that she had fought for into a dictatorship that threw the entire Galaxy into a Civil War.

But the question was that she had kept asking herself since she had woken up from the artificial coma: Could she have done anything to prevent all of this from happening or where there just some things that happened now matter what you tried to prevent it? "I really have to say that I'm so impressed of what you and Mon Mothma have accomplished all those years and I can't begin to imagine how hard this long must had been on the both of you. I hope that I can be a part of this new democracy too, because I figured that just sitting at home all the time that's not me." Padme's parents of course weren't surprised by this statement from their daughter and they were also happy that she had been reunited with her children after all those years.

"That wish doesn't surprise me one bit, because one way or another you always will stay a politician and the most driven one I've ever seen in my entire life. Unlike many others in the Galactic Senate back in the old days of the Old Republic you would always have your own opinion." Sola had always admired her big commitment for the job as a politician and she was sure that the members of the government of the New Republic and the Queen of Naboo would definitely benefit from her experience.
