Chapter 38

Coruscant Spaceport

The Millennium Falcon finally landed on the surface of the capitol world of the New Republic, Han and Chewie had successfully finished their mission besides the little run-in with the Imperials and deep down he hoped that he would have some free time before Mon Mothma would give him the next mission. Of course he wondered what Leia was up to right now, unfortunately the two didn't have very much time for each other because of the stressful schedules that both of them had and he hoped that this would change very soon. At the exit of the Spaceport Han had already spotted Admiral Hoyt, that of course had insisted on getting a full report about his mission as soon as possible but of course Han always had hated all those paper that had come along once he had agreed to make his work legal and offer his services to the Government of the New Republic.

Life in the good old days when he smuggled goods for the highest bidder under the watchful eyes of the ruthless Empire was maybe very eventful but also very dangerous and with a woman by his side that he loved so much some change was definitely a good thing. At first he didn't want to realize it but the first in his life he was considering to settle down, to end his days as a smuggler that stood always above the law was one of the first steps into this direction and maybe that big change also scared him a little bit too. Solo and Hoyt shortly greeted each other before Hoyt said: "It's good to know that the mission went as planned even if the Imperials tried to interfere and I expect your full report on my desk as soon as possible."

"Of course Admiral has there been any news from Corellia considering the treaty with the New Republic?" Han then asked curious how the situation on his home world was right now, because from what had read in the last reports on the situation there the negotiations with the Correlian representatives had been shaped by a lot of mistrust towards the New Republic representatives. But maybe they also had every right to be cautious towards the New Republic after they had just barely survived the cruel reign of the Empire on the planet on the other side of course they needed to find some way to make them trust the New Republic by proving that they weren't just like the Empire.

"According to Group of Senators that negotiates with the Correlian representatives the negotiations are going slowly and they hope that they don't have to cancel the whole thing. Coming to no agreement at all in the very end is definitely not the thing what they want but let's just say that it might be a really long and hard way before they can come up with anything solid at all." Admiral Hoyt replied and you could see that he wasn't satisfied with how things were going, because maybe the last remains of the Empire troops weren't such a big threat to the New Republic right now but in his opinion this whole thing could change very quickly and Hoyt surely didn't want Correlia to be one of the first systems to fall back to the Empire once they had organized themselves again. Of course Han could understand the skeptics' on the Correlian Side, after what horrible times they just had been through during the occupation of the planet by the Empire and also because of the fact that Correlia had always been a very independent planet.

Even if he never had been a person that was interested in politics he definitely hoped that his home world would join the New Republic in the end. "Okay thank you for the little update Admiral." Together with Chewie he finally left the space port and as walked towards his favorite bar he wondered what Leia was doing right now.

Royal Palace, Naboo

Together with their children Padme had entered the Palace again as she had finally made the decision to accept the offer from the Queen considering the position of her personal advisor. Her time as a Queen of Naboo had been full of challenges, not only had she get her people through the invasion of Naboo by the Trade Federation she had also successfully made peace between the Naboo and the Gungans. It had been hard to get through all the mistrust that had been built up for all those years between her people and the Gungans but at last Naboo and Gungans had saved the planet from the Droid Army of the Trade Federation. Meanwhile Luke and Leia were pretty impressed by the sights that they in front of them, Padme's daughter was a little bit reminded of the Palace back at Aldeeran but she pushed that thought about her former home world away again very quickly as the memory of the destruction was still too traumatic for her after all those years.

Witnessing the destruction of her home world first hand, not being able to do anything to stop it from happening was probably the most cruel thing that could happen to any human being in their life and that kind of traumatic experience clearly wasn't something that you could ever forget. She tried her best to get her mind off this depressing topic as she asked her mother: "How difficult was it for you to handle this big burden being the Queen? " At the end Padme had been happy that her term was over, even if she was very well aware of the fact how much the people of Naboo loved her as Queen but in the end it always had been a very huge burden to be in this high ranking position, making decisions that affected the lives of so many people and being forced to grow up so fast hadn't always been very easy.

"Of course I started early with Politics as I joined the Young Legislatives on my home world but being the Queen of Naboo at this young age was very difficult thing to handle for me at the beginning of my first term. I won't deny that I was glad how much people loved me as I accomplished so much good for them during my two four-year terms but in the end I was glad when my second term was over and I could concentrate more on spending time with my family." Padme said after she taken some to choose her words wisely and she was definitely happy to able to answer some questions that their kids had about their Mother, which they had been separated from for too long and deep down the former Senator hoped that she was somehow able to make up for all the lost time.
