"I'm getting hungry." Bob said, midway through the second game.

"Don't get up. It's just a ploy." Jack said as Carla was starting to get up. "He wants to take over the game."

She plopped back down in the chair and looked at Bob. "I didn't know I was marrying such a competitive man, one that would beat out his own fiancé."

"When it comes to my nephew, definitely, but you, no. I would let you win every time, fair and square." Bob replied with a smile.

Carla suspiciously smiled back. "Why don't I believe you?"

Everyone laughed as they continued a few minutes longer.

"It is after 6, we should start making something." Sue said, looking at her watch.

"Alright. We'll take a break. But no one touches the table!" Jack exclaimed. "In fact, Sunny!" He called. She was sleeping next to Sue, and woke when she heard her name, padding over to Jack. "Sunny, watch this table!" He then turned to Sue. "Does she know that trick you taught Levi?"

Sue shook her head. "No, unfortunately I didn't have time to teach it to her yet."

"Darn it, that would've been perfect. Nonetheless, Sunny, watch the table. Make sure no one does anything sneaky or suspicious." Jack said as they all got up.

Sunny happily complied, hopping up on the chair that Sue occupied, setting her head on the table, viewing the current game on pause. Everyone laughed, then went into the kitchen to make dinner.

"It's almost time." Bob said, shaking Carla awake. It was after dinner and games, and almost midnight. They had started watching a movie, but Carla had fallen asleep in the process.

"What? I missed it?" Carla asked, waking up.

"No, we're waking you up before. 10 minutes." Bob replied.

"But I missed the movie!" She complained.

They chatted for a few minutes about the missed movie, and pretty soon, it was one minute to midnight.

"10! 9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! Happy New Year!" they all shouted to each other. With that, both couples kissed.

"I haven't had that in a while. It felt good." Carla said when both couples parted.

"What? New Years?" Bob asked. "I'm pretty sure it happens every year."

She shook her head. "No, silly. A New Years kiss."

Bob smiled widely. "Well, you've got many more where that came from. Like right now." He said, taking her into his arms again and kissing her.

She laughed as they let go again. Now that's something I haven't had in a really long time! Two New Years kisses!" She then cupped her hand and leaned so that her daughter could see. "Your Father only did that when we were engaged, too." She whispered.

"I guess I should keep up to par, then." Jack said, kissing Sue again. "Third time's a charm." He said, kissing her a third time.

By this time, everyone was laughing so hard no one could really do anything but laugh. "What a New Year!" Carla exclaimed.

"I can't believe it's New Years Day already. Doesn't it feel like we just put up this tree?" Cathi asked as they sat and admired the lovely tree.

"Yes, it does. And now it gets taken down tomorrow." Myles replied.

"Oh, can't it stay up one more week? It just looks so lovely!" She asked.

He slightly smiled at her. "Oh, OK."

"Yay! You hear that, tree? You get one more week of life!"

Just then, Myles' phone rang. He took it out, looked at the caller, then put it on the counter next to the couch.

"You gonna get that?"

He shook his head. "I'll let it go to voicemail. How about some hot chocolate?" He asked, changing the subject.

Cathi smiled and nodded. "Sure."

Myles nodded, then got up to go make the hot chocolate, walking out of the room.

Once out of sight, Cathi's smile disappeared, staring into space, thinking. There was something he wasn't saying, something he was avoiding. While she was thinking, his phone dinged, letting him know he had a voicemail. Curious, she looked at it. "Why won't you talk to your parents?" She whispered, seeing the name that popped up. A few more minutes of thinking, and Myles was back.

"Extra marshmallows for you." He said, handing her a cup.

She smiled. "Thank you."

"Now, where were we?" Myles asked.

"Enjoying this tree." She replied.

"Then let's get back to it!"

Cathi smiled at him, then settled next to her, still thinking.

New Years Day was quiet, just the four of them doing nothing in particular, and they had fun doing just that. But it wouldn't last long.

"Troy! What are you doing here?" Sue said and signed when she opened the door later that evening.

"JACK HERE?" He replied, distracted.

"YES." She replied, still confused.

"US-THREE CHAT, OK?"

"OK. Sue signed, then let Troy inside.

"Hi, Troy, what's up?" Jack said and signed when he walked into the living room, where they were sitting.

"ME NEED CHAT YOU-TWO." Troy signed.

"SIT." Sue replied, nodding.

Troy nodded, and sat down on the couch.

"I'll just, go do something in the kitchen." Carla said, getting up.

"I think I'll help you." Bob replied, following her.

"WHAT'S UP?" Sue asked, sitting on the other end of the couch.

"NEED YOU-TWO YOU-HELP-ME." Troy worriedly signed.

Sue and Jack looked at each other, curious as to what all this was about.
