Looking to the night sky, a Nightwing layed against the dunes deep in thought, with one thought on his mind.
Was there Life beyond?
He remembered the eldest nightwings sharing stories of how they used to look up to the stars and see things the eyes of a dragon could never see. While the story of some kind of red, white and blue object on the moon was certainly something he wanted to explore - he wanted to instead search for life. Life on the distant stars only enchanted telescopes could see!
I might as well do it now, don't want to end up forgetting, getting up with a sigh, he turned and spoke.
"I raise the ground to open a tunnel to a new world, full of life that familiar, yet foriegn."
The sands started to shift as stone was raised from the earth, a tunnel leading to a new world. Once the trembling of the earth had ceased, he was free to walk through the tunnel. It didn't take him too long to get to the other side, but he did feel heavier - and almost like a part of him was missing. But it didn't seem important, what was important was the boreal forest in front of him, obviously in the midst of the warmer seasons.
Birds sang, one even calling out with a,
Chick-a-dee-dee-dee!
Just like how he wished, it was a familiar, yet foreign sound. Fully exiting the tunnel, he then saw the small pond in front of the tunnel, and what looked to be finely crafted wooden furniture!
There's life in this world! Smart life! He couldn't wait to meet these new friends, now he would have more friends than the one Sandwing he'd been seeing. Following the path from the pond and furniture, there was a quaint house, the entrance platform nicely decorated with strange (yet cute) objects and more furniture. They seem to be so nice! Let's see them! His smile was massive and toothy, walking to the door he knocked four times and sat in front of it. Hearing the footsteps inside, he heard them draw closer until the door swung open.
He was surprised, and his maw dropped to the ground. There in front of him stood a massive monster- a monster that was taller than him! Not only that, it was wearing strange furs - a relatively wide brimmed, slightly bucket shaped hat.
"I wish I could talk to this… thing," he whispered, then said "Hi! H-how are you?" The beast responded.
"Drongster!" It yelled, slamming the door in his face.
Maybe I should leave? He thought, eventually acting on his thoughts and leaving. He heard the door open again, then followed by a massive bang. Not even thinking about it, he just ran. "I wish this monster would stop attacking me!" He said, but it didn't work. None of his animus powers worked. With every bang, he ran faster, reaching the tunnel and exiting the other side.
The beast didn't follow him, so he tried to take the chance to close the tunnel with his animus powers - but it didn't work. Quickly testing his powers, they still worked, but not on the tunnel. Taking a different approach, he tried to cave in the tunnel, but it didn't work.
I'm just an imbecile! He swore, telling himself off and insulting himself. In the end, he didn't know what to do. So, he just covered the entrance with sand and hoped for the best.
