A/N: 04/18/20 - Hello! Welcome to my first full length Power Ranger OC story. This message is for anyone who is rereading or is a first timer! First, let me thank you for choosing to read it. I originally wrote this story when I was 15, and now that I'm older and a better writer (and stuck in Quarantine), I've decided to revisit this story and give it a Reboot. The plot's been altered, the Universe has been retconned, some characters were erased or rewritten, and the overall story is more cohesive! So, I hope you enjoy it!

Next Legend takes place right after Megaforce, in the year 2012.

Earth... A beautiful planet... One of many that supports life and peace. However, time and time again, Earth has been thrown into danger. However, when the wicked rise, a team of heroes would stand tall to protect this world. Now, a new story... a new Power Ranger Legend is about to begin...

-Dream-

A once shining city known as Bayview shook with an ongoing conflict. Explosions rocked the buildings, debris and smoke filled the air, and finally, the Sun was eclipsed with a bluish glow.

Five Power Rangers were doing battle with two mysterious figures wrapped in shadow. The Green Ranger trapped the figures between stones, while the Yellow Ranger charged up lightning.

The Blue and Pink Rangers sent in a water-wind combo attack that struck the enemies. The Yellow Ranger then released the lightning into the water, electrifying her target.

The Red Ranger shot a metallic arrow that burst on fire right at the figures and seemingly destroyed them. The rangers gathered together thinking they had won, but an explosion behind them disproved this. One figure had used the other as a shield... The Rangers were shocked...

-End Dream-

Jared Gordon woke up in cold sweat. His alarm clock was blaring next to his ear. He reached for it with his left hand and hit the snooze button. Little did he know, a glowing gold Triquetra was shining on the back of his left hand. After a few moments, it faded away.

Jared got up and went into the bathroom. "Weird dream..." He muttered. Navigating the house was easy for Jared, as he had lived there before. His mother had told him that they had lived there when he was younger. Why they moved away was beyond him, but why they moved back was a different story.

After getting dressed, Jared observed himself in the mirror. He wiped his shaggy brown hair over dark eyes. He blankly examined his tan face. The teen wore a red t-shirt, brown cargo shorts and red vans shoes.

Jared sat down at the breakfast table where his brother, Cody was already sitting.

"Morning, Champ." Cody said cheerfully.

Jared looked at his brother with a, "Don't even start," face.

"Come on, bud. It's our first day!"

"Whatever," Jared rolled his eyes. "How're we twins again?"

"Well, little brother, life is weird like that," Cody replied with a smirk.

Their mother Melissa, said, "Ok, boys. You have fifteen minutes before school starts. I suggest you leave now. You don't want to be late."

"Alrighty, Mom!" Cody said, getting up. "Come on, Jared."

The teen sighed, shook his head and followed his brother out the door. "Later, Mom!"

"Have a good day, boys!" Melissa sighed and looked around at the boxes that had yet to be unpacked. "Here we go..."

- Cue Season 1 Theme, Link on Profile-

Jared and Cody stepped off the Bayview High School bus and went straight to the Principal's office. The Principal's name was Principal Edwin and he was a tall man with short brown hair and green eyes. He also had a mature tan face.

"Welcome to our school, you two." He smiled.

Cody smiled back. "It's a pleasure to be here."

Jared just sat there and stared at the ground.

"So..." Mr. Edwin began as he went through his laptop. "Just let me pull up your profiles so I can get your schedules..." Cody and Jared took turns filling in electives for the Semester. They were then given printed copies.

"Now, to help you adjust, here is your student tour guide! Ms. Morgan? You may come in." The door opened to reveal a girl their age with long brown hair, brown eyes, fair skin, and a petite body. She wore a white shirt under a pink button down, blue jeans and pink converse. Jared looked away when he felt that he was staring a bit too long.

"Hey, guys," she greeted with a warm smile. "I'm Alicia, it's nice to meet you both."

Mr. Edwin said, "Alicia will show you two around and get you settled in. If you have any questions, just ask her, or me!"

As Cody and Jared stood up to follow Alicia, Mr. Edwin patted the two on the shoulder. "Welcome, boys!"

That's when it hit Jared; he felt a strange sensation, a chilling feeling rushing down his back, making his hairs stand on end.

Shaking it off, Jared and his brother made small talk with Alicia as she showed them the whole school. It was a quick and easy tour, leaving the boys with some sense of direction. Cody parted ways with them when he found his Homeroom.

Jared felt like a fish out of water to say the least. Everything seemed so foreign to him. He parted ways with Alicia after homeroom, "I'll see you at lunch!" she had said, and he finally got to his locker. After he punched in his combination, it didn't unlock the door.

"What the..." He tried it again, but failed once more. "Come on!" In growing irritation, he smacked the door a few times.

A light-hearted voice said, "Woah, buddy. Let's not kill the thing."

"Well, this stupid thing won't open," Jared pointed out, turning to meet a boy's amber eyes. The boy was about Jared's height with lighter skin and lighter brown hair. He wore a black and white shirt, jeans, and converse.

"That's because... that's MY locker."

Jared felt his face flush as he checked his schedule for his locker number. As it turned out, his locker was right next to the one he had hit. "Oh..." He punched in the combo to the locker next door and was able to open it on his first try. "Sorry 'bout that..."

"No worries. I'm Tobias."

"Jared."

"Well, Jared. Welcome to Bayview."

By lunch period, Cody was already in a group of friends having a great time. Cody's twin, however, sat under a tree. Jared looked on at his brother with slightly envious eyes. The boy in red sat back and stared at the sky, thinking about his old friends back in Los Angeles. He barely paid attention to Tobias who was droning on about how the school worked.

"We're also a big sports school," Tobias explained, taking a sip from a soda. "Our biggest ones are Football and Lacrosse. I'm on the Lacrosse team, but I never actually like… play or anything. Do you play?"

"A bit," Jared absent-mindedly replied.

"You should try out then, dude! Tryouts are all week this week."

"I think I will," Jared nodded, when a camera flash erupted on the left side of his peripheral, catching him off guard.

"Sorry, Jared!" Alicia's voice apologized. Jared's eyes readjusted and he grinned as the girl in pink gave him an apologetic look.

Jared rubbed his eyes. "Don't sweat it..."

"Hey, Tobias," Alicia greeted the boy.

"What's going on, Alicia?" Tobias grinned back.

"Do you mind?" Alicia asked motioning for a spot next to Jared. Jared nodded and Alicia took a seat. Within minutes, the three were talking back and forth. Alicia asked, "So you're from LA? What's it like there?"

"You sure know a bit about me... and ask a lot of questions." Jared teased.

"Well..." Alicia trailed off, "I make it my business to know."

"Alicia!" A new voice greeted them, making them turn their heads. A girl with a mature aura about her approached. She had long, brown hair, and piercing green eyes. Her skin was a light shade of olive. "I'm glad to see you're showing the new guy around."

"Hey, Rachel," Alicia greeted with a smile. "Jared, this is Rachel, she's on the Student Council with me. We're actually-"

Alicia was cut off when a girl about the same height as her stopped running in front of the two. Her light skinned face moved heavily with her deep breaths, her green eyes were wide and wild, and her blonde hair was all over the place. She wore a grey sweatshirt over a yellow shirt, brown capris and yellow converse.

Alicia looked at her friend. "Sonia, what's wrong?"

Sonia frantically informed, "There's a fight! Noah and Liam!"

Alicia's eyes widened and she muttered, "Oh no..." She got up and ran, with Jared following. The four shoved their way through a crowd and found a fight breaking out. One Sophomore, who was taller than Jared, had lighter skin, dark eyes, and shorter brown hair. He wore a light blue shirt under a white Lacrosse jersey. He also wore dark brown cargoes and black sneakers. He was currently throwing hands with a much larger Junior. Behind him was yet another Sophomore. He had a larger, more muscular stature and his skin was a nice shade of caramel. He had warm, amber eyes, and neatly groomed, short black hair. He wore a forest green shirt over jeans and converse.

"Noah!" He exasperated, trying to pull his blue-clothed friend away from the Junior. "You gotta relax, bro."

"Noah Ryder! Paul Kirkland! Break it up!" Yelled a teacher.

Alicia sighed and whispered to Jared, "That's Noah, our resident daredevil. And the guy trying to calm him down is Liam. Give me a second." She began to push her way closer and closer.

"What is the meaning of this?" The teacher demanded.

Noah explained, "Paul was beefing with Liam!" He shook himself out of an annoyed Liam's grip.

The teacher was about to chew Noah out even more, when Alicia stepped in.

"Mr. Larimer, I'm sure Noah meant well. We all know he can be a little... over the top."

"Hey!" Noah exclaimed, offended, but Alicia kept going.

"Just let this one slide, and I'll guarantee he turns his attitude around."

Mr. Larimer thought it over. "Fine, Ms. Morgan. I trust you."

Noah looked at Alicia with a look of gratitude. Liam lightly smacked Noah's arm and glared at him. The fight was officially broken up, and the students began to disperse.

"Well, that was fun," Tobias commented as he and Jared followed the girls to Noah and Liam, who were in a silent but heated argument.

"Noah…" Liam sighed.

Noah shrugged his shoulders and said, "Paul was being a jerk, dude."

"He's always a jerk," Liam replied, "But I don't want you to stoop to his level, man. Not you."

Alicia jumped in, "You know, I can't keep covering for you?"

Noah rolled his eyes. "Thanks, Mom."

"You have to reel it in," Sonia lectured, "I don't want you getting hurt."

"Okay, okay!" Noah held his hands up in defeat. "I'm sorry!" He then noticed Jared in the group. "Who's this?"

"Jared. I'm new."

"Noah," Noah fist bumped Jared, "I'm not always like this, I promise."

Liam then introduced himself too, with a genuine smile. "Welcome to Bayview High," He laughed. From there, the group had lunch together and went on as if nothing happened. About 20 minutes later as the bell rang, the students packed up their things for their next class.

"I'll see you guys in 8th period," Alicia smiled, standing up. She looked across the Quad to see a group of glamourous students waving at her. Alicia nodded at them and said, "I gotta go."

"Who're they?" Jared asked Tobias as he watched Alicia run off.

Tobias laughed and said, "Every school has a popular clique. That one's ours." Tobias motioned toward the three people who began to walk closest with Alicia, with a few others following. One of them was holding her hand. He easily stood at 6'1, had bright blonde hair, and green eyes.

"That's Alicia's boyfriend, Bobby. He's… not that bad of a guy," Tobias rolled his eyes. "Of course, you wouldn't see him hanging with me."

The two other people with Alicia were also holding hands. The guy in the second pair was a bit taller than Bobby with a similar muscular build. He had darker skin and black hair. He was holding hands with a girl with a lighter complexion. She had green eyes and strawberry blonde hair. Judging by their fancy clothes, Jared could tell they were well off.

"That tall dude is Ezra. And his girlfriend…" Tobias blushed as he looked at her, "That's Lydia…"

"You alright?" Jared gave Tobias a small smile.

"Yeah, no, yeah… Um… Yeah, so… Alicia's tight with everyone in school," Tobias stared at her with platonic admiration. "I bet Principal Edwin had her show you around, right? She has this ability to just… understand people and get them to open up. Everyone likes Alicia…" Tobias finished.

"Wow…" Jared whispered, blushing a little bit.

"Hey guys?" Liam asked, "Let's get going."

- Bayview High, The Library -

Jared had a free 7th period, and was given permission to head to the Library for much needed books. The library was quite impressive to the boy. It had three levels, with stacks upon stacks of books. The first floor area had the most open space, with multiple tables spread around for students to study. It was currently empty, so Jared naturally walked up to the librarian's desk. He waited a few minutes, when a younger looking man, who appeared to be a few years older than Jared, emerged from the archives.

"Hello," He greeted in an Aussie accent. The man was about 6 feet tall with a nice tan. His dark hair was curly and neat while his eyes were piercing yet relaxing at the same time. He wore a light green polo, tan khakis and brown loafers. "How can I help you?"

"I'm just looking for a few books. I'm new."

"Jared Gordon?" The man asked.

"Spot on," Jared tilted his head in surprise.

"Xander Bly, Librarian and Mythology Teacher."

"Oh, cool…" Jared awkwardly replied, "Anyways, I need-"

Before he could say anything, Xander cut him off. "I know exactly what you need." The older man planted a large book in front of Jared. It was quite large and leather bound. It was labeled, "Slayer."

Jared felt his blood run cold. He took a half step back and felt a knot well up in his throat. "That's… that's not what I need…" He half whispered.

Xander's expression changed slightly, "Oh yeah? I'm pretty sure you're in my Mythology class if my roster's to be believed."

"Um… I have to… I have to go," Jared swiftly said, making a beeline to the door.

~8th Period~

When 8th Period Mythology class rolled around, Jared nervously walked into the library with Tobias, Noah, and Liam. They had to go to the third floor of the library to get to the classroom. Jared immediately walked to the back of the classroom and sighed as he sat down. The rest of the boys sat with him while Alicia and Lydia sat around the middle. Jared quietly wished she had sat down with him, too.

"Hello, everyone," Xander walked into the room. Jared could tell most of the girls in the room were swooning over his teacher's accent. "I'm Dr. Bly, welcome to Mythology."

Jared did his best to stay under the radar, and he managed to get through the whole lesson without drawing too much attention to himself. When the bell rang, he quickly said goodbye to his new friends and walked out the door.

~Later On~

Jared slung his red backpack over his shoulder, listening to Cody gush about how "amazing" his first day was. "My classes are awesome!" Cody exclaimed, practically skipping down the sidewalk of their street.

"Okay, Code, take a chill pill," Jared laughed, "You'll hurt yourself."

"Don't 'Code' me, Jar-Bear!" Cody teased back. "How bout you Mr. Doom and Gloom?"

"It was normal," Jared shrugged. They continued to walk when Jared felt another chill run down his spine. He quickly turned around with his senses on full alert. He could've sworn he was being followed.

"Jerry? Earth to Jerry?" Cody waved his hand in front of his brother. "Jared!"

"What?" Jared snapped his head forward.

"You zoned out on me."

"Yeah," Jared shook his head. "Sorry."

~That Night~

Jared finished his last homework assignment and pushed himself away from his desk. His room, according to his Mom, was the room he stayed in the last time they lived in Bayview years ago. The walls were a faded red, it was still bare. Boxes that remained packed were stacked next to his bed, laziness being the reason as to why he didn't take everything out.

The Gordon Manor was a rather larger house in an upper-middle class area. It had been in the Gordon Family for generations. "It only makes sense we'd move back here," Mrs. Gordon told Jared and Cody. Shaking his head, Jared went over to his bed and pulled a trunk out from under it. He undid the lock and lifted the lid, revealing a wide array of weapons. Stakes, Holy Water vials, Crosses, Crossbows, Garlic, etc. lined the many nooks and crannies of the foot locker.

Jared shook his head and locked the foot locker again. "I'm not doing this again…"

Quietly, Jared walked out of the kitchen and into the main hallway that led to the front door. He passed under the chandelier and felt a surge of energy flow through him. "Again?" He asked, quietly. Ignoring it, he opened the door and went on a jog. He failed to notice two things: One, the Triquetra glowed once more on his left hand and Two, the crystal chandelier above him slowly shook and glowed.

~An Unknown Location~

Rachel Shelor paced around a well lit room. This large room had a corner with computer screens and consoles, where her friend sat. "A power surge?"

Her friend sat there and wiped his blonde hair out his eyes. His blue eyes dancing between the screens, he explained, "I have no idea what's causing it."

"We'll find out. Just keep looking, Devon."

~That Friday~

Before anyone knew, the end of the week had arrived. Jared was able to get in the swing of things, the strange incident in the Library earlier that week had started to be forgotten.

"So get this," Noah nudged Jared as they walked out of class. Jared and his new classmates had just walked out of Mythology Class, the last class of the day, and were making their way to the buses.

"Let me guess?" Liam asked Noah, "Lee Hoberman is throwing a party in the woods tonight?"

"How'd you know?" Noah asked.

Sonia laughed, "Because info gets around fast."

Noah shrugged and jumped in front of his friends. He turned around, his arms stretched forward to get them to stop walking. "So, I was thinking we could all squad up! It'd be a blast."

Jared shrugged his shoulders. "I mean… I never really partied before, but I'm down." Then he added, "We can go tonight, then work on Dr. Bly's project tomorrow?"

"Sounds like a plan," Alicia nodded. "What's your address?"

Jared took out his phone and said, "I'll text you guys."

~Gordon Manor, That Night~

"No way," Cody grinned at Jared, then at Alicia and Noah. "Living, breathing friends?"

Embarrassed, Jared escorted the others into the sun room while he reprimanded his brother. "Seriously?"

"Sorry... Well, I'm linking up with some people for the party, so I'll see you there. Be good now, you hear?"

Sighing, Jared apologized for his brother's behavior. They hung out and waited a little while longer, waiting on Liam and Sonia.

~The Woods~

The Five arrived at the party venue at around 11pm. The party had already been going on in earnest with a sizable amount of people. They were all pretty deep in the forest as well. Despite this, the area was well lit with numerous string lights hanging amongst the trees surrounding a two story building that was run down. Numerous bits of its walls were missing, but the building was still quite stable. It too had interior lights set up by the students, many of whom were also dancing inside it.

Numerous Seniors were the center of attention, giving the start of their year a hurrah. Cody, somehow, had finessed his way in with the Seniors, as they took him in like they'd known each other for years. This left Jared with his small band of friends, sans Alicia. She was with her boyfriend Bobby, Lydia, and Ezra. Jared sheepishly looked away from Alicia and her group while taking a sip from a water bottle. He wasn't too keen on drinking anyway. Liam, Sonia, Noah were dancing with a group of Sophomores near the hut, when all of a sudden, a whisper reached its way to all Five of them.

"Come closer…" It beckoned to them. At first, none of them paid attention, but it persisted. They all broke away from the party and exchanged glances across the venue. They all silently confirmed with each other that they were the only ones who could hear the voice.

Without warning, the ground began to shake, causing alarm and chaos. Students fled in all directions, scared and wanting to get away as soon as possible. In the middle of the chaos, the Five found each other and held onto a single large tree. Within moments, they were the only Students left in the woods.

~Unknown Location~

In a dimly lit room, a figure in a black hood sat in a meditative position. He opened his eyes when he felt a surge of power.

"The Nemeton… It's first seal is about to break."

~The Woods~

"What's going on?" Sonia grasped a low branch. Another jolt caused them to fall into one another. There was the sound of a large crack and a cloud of darkness soared from the treetops above them. It was pitch black, but at its 'core' was an orange glow, like a heart. It seemingly eyed the Five down before charging at them. Before it could reach them however, the teens glowed a bright white light. The light showered down on the shadow entity, and it burst into wisps of nothing.

"Are you guys okay?" Jared asked, helping the others up. For safety, the Five linked hands in a circle to slowly stand. When they all got to their feet, a warm sensation flowed through them.

"Legends, awaken..." The same angelic voice from before whispered to them. Each felt something rise within them, something that felt like it was under a thin sheet of ice, ready to break free.

On instinct, the Five slowly walked deeper into the woods. Within moments, fog began to descend around them.

"Freaky," Liam whispered.

"Everyone, stay together…" Jared instructed. After a few minutes of silence, the Five came upon a circular clearing about the size of a classroom. In the middle of the clearing was a wide tree stump.

Feeling drawn to it, the Five walked over to it. On top of it, was a book whose covers were made of black leather and the pages within were goldenrod colored and thick by paper standards. Slowly, Jared opened the cover to the first page, which read, "The Destiny Book" in beautifully large and stylized letters. The letters appeared to be hand written and drawn. Jared turned the page again.

He whispered, "I feel like I've seen this book before."

The heading reading, "Awakening the Legends."

"I don't get it," Sonia whispered, "what is this?"

"Some sort of spellbook?" Liam pitched. "But what's it doing out here?"

"No way," Noah shook his head. "It couldn't be."

"One way to find out," Jared said, looking down at the words, which were written in black ink, the font neat and beautiful to look at. "Gather on one night, the Five Legends come. The King, the Queen, the Hunter, the Guardian, and the Goddess, come together as one and awaken your powers. In unison, read the awakening chant."

Jared looked around at the others, who nodded. Together, they recited,

"Powers of the Magic rise,

Soar unseen across the skies,

settle here to we Legends Five,

give power and duty to protect all lives."

Suddenly, the book began to glow. A pulse of energy burst from it and into the stump. The stump flashed in response, sending a shockwave outward, knocking the Five off their feet.

"Find the Spirits," an angelic voice pleaded. "Find the Spirits..."

The owner of the angelic voice appeared to them, hovering above. She appeared as a figure surrounded by a bright pink aura. Her actual appearance continuously changed with a shimmer of pink light scanning across her body. However, it was easy to see that she embodied different Pink Power Ranger forms every few moments. "I am the Pink Emissary... You must find the Spirits and unlock your true selves."

"What is all this?" Alicia asked.

"You Five have a destiny."

"Destiny?" Liam echoed. "What destiny?"

"Connect to the Spirits, and things will be set in motion," Pink Emissary replied, softly. She snapped her left fingers and everything went black for the Five.

The next thing the Five knew, they found themselves in the well lit room.

"Where are we?" Alicia asked. The building they were in was very high tech, but had elements of a church. The windows were stained glass portraits depicting peculiar symbols. Next to the front corridor of the building were walls that held touch computer screens. A few, small sets of stairs led to a lower level that had more computer monitors. On the opposite side of the room was a slightly larger area surrounded by walls of weapons; no doubt that was for training. Finally, more corridors led to different parts of the building.

"You're here," a familiar voice called out to them. Dr. Bly stepped into the light with a look of disbelief on his face. Rachel was with him.

"No way," Noah shook his head. "What's going on here, Dr. Bly? Is this some sort of joke?"

"Rachel, you too?" Sonia asked, to which the girl nodded.

Rachel explained, "Xander's my cousin... and I'm a Mystic Knight in-training."

"It's not a joke, Noah," Dr. Bly answered with a bit of urgency in his voice. "Our world is in danger again. But, please, let me explain." He whispered some words the Five could not understand and formed images in their minds.

"Earth... is a planet with numerous special properties, one being that it is split between the Mystic Realm and the Human realm. They coexist side-by-side on this planet. For the most part, they remained separate. In 2006, the city of Briarwood became the first and so far only Human Realm city to embrace the inhabitants of the Mystic Realm." Images of the Mystic Force Power Rangers defeating the Underworld and joining the humans and mystic creatures together flashed through the minds of the Five.

"But centuries ago, there was a Great War. Beings known as the Twilight attacked. They're the reasons as to why ALL Supernatural beings are free to walk the entire Earth. This gave rise to the legends of Vampires, Werewolves, and every other creature of myth you can think of. To stop the Twilight, twelve Champions used their special magics to seal the Twilight into the Dark Void, a sort of shadow version of Earth. However, the damage was done. The barrier that protected the Human Realm from the Supernatural could not be repaired."

Each Ranger saw hordes of different creatures walking the Earth. They witnessed a primordial-looking demon eventually pave the way for the rise of Vampires. They watched as groups of humans were cursed with Lycanthropy. They even witnessed numerous ancient witch covens rise and fall, passing on their knowledge to future generations. They then saw pixies, fairies, spirits, and all other creatures of different shapes and sizes grow and evolve over time within mere moments.

"Fearing the return of the Twilight, and the threat of the dark Supernatural forces, the Champions took measures to protect the Earth, its mortal and magical sides."

Dr. Bly further explained, "The seal of the Dark Void is maintained by the Nemeton. That's the tree stump you Five found in the forest. It was sealed by that Book of Shadows that Jared's carrying. To further protect and guide Good Magic, beings called 'Light-Watchers' exist. They are what numerous religions call 'Angels.' The battle between good and evil Supernatural beings has gone on for thousands of years. You Five, if you haven't guessed already, are a part of this world."

"What?" Noah shook his head, "No way. We can't be."

"Jared," Dr. Bly nodded at the boy, "Please…"

Jared turned to the others and sighed, "He's telling the truth..."

"How do you know?" Liam asked, crossing his arms.

"Because," Jared closed his eyes for a second and opened them. His brown eyes were now red. "I'm already a part of the Supernatural World. I'm a Witch... but also the Slayer."

"Slayer?" Alicia asked, "What's that?"

Jared turned away from her and ignored the question. "I… I gave it up! No more fighting."

Dr. Bly pressed, "You're the Slayer… Into each generation a Slayer is born. One teen in ALL the world. The Chosen One who has the magical abilities, the strength, and speed to fight the Vampires, Demons, and all forces of Darkness."

Jared turned around and asked Dr. Bly, "Yeah I heard it all before… But why? I fought already. I'm done!"

Dr. Bly sullenly replied, "You Five awakened the Nemeton, Jared. That means that Twilight can start to weaken the seal and eventually break free. Your Slayer powers won't be enough to defeat them. But together, you Five have the power to stop them. If you connect to the Ancient Spirits, you will become Power Rangers: Next Legend, and protect the world."

"The Spirits," Sonia repeated, "Like what that 'Pink Emissary' woman said."

Dr. Bly nodded, " The Pink Emissary contacted me years ago telling me she'd place five potent Supernatural Teenagers into my care. If she sent you, then I trust her choice. However, it seems like..." Xander waved his hands in front of the Teens, casting a spell. A glow of green energy wafted around them as if scanning them. Xander explained, "It looks like a spell was placed on all of you to bind your powers- Your active abilities and your sorcery skills."

"Sorcery?" Liam asked, "Us?"

"It looks like when you all touched the Destiny Book and came in contact with the Nemeton, the active half of your powers reawakened, but it'll take longer for the rest of your powers to release. Jared's powers were reawakened when he gained his Slayer powers."

He projected more images in front of the Five. "This is King Cepheus and his followers. His son, Roxas, his advisor Wiseman, and his bodyguards Phoenix and Medusa. All are powerful."

"I did what I had to do already…" Jared weakly stated, "I… I already lost a lot," his voice showed a hint of sadness.

Dr. Bly replied, "Being chosen isn't easy… But there's no one else who can do it. Bayview is a source of extraordinary magical energy. Our base of operations, this building right here, sits in Bayview's deepest forest protected by charms. It was built by a Wizard called 'Zordon,' to act as a sentry post."

"Sentry post?" Liam repeated, crossing his arms. "For what?"

Rachel explained, "For what Xander just said - The Nemeton. Specifically, it's a sacred space that acts as a center of energy. It draws other Supernatural energy and beings in. To seal the Twilight into the Dark Void, the Bayview Nemeton was used to act as a lock and key to the gate. Now that it's awake, the Twilight can weaken it. More and more, creatures of all shapes and sizes will find themselves in the City. If they cause enough fear and panic, the Seal will break. No doubt, the Twilight will send up their own creatures to expedite the process."

"So please," Rachel begged, "No one else can connect to the Spirits. It has to be you."

"Can we think about this?" Noah asked. "I need time to... wrap my head around it."

"Of course," Dr. Bly nodded, "But you won't have long."

- Dark Void-

Earth has a shadow. In this shadow, lies a parallel world where beings of dark magic, the "Twilightians," reside.

The massive cities within the Dark Void shared a cold and miserable atmosphere. At the center of the largest city was a spiraling mountain where a black castle sat on top- King Cepheus' Castle.

The King of the Twilightians, King Cepheus, sensed many different energies flow from all directions in his massive and dark throne room. Cepheus had the form of an old man with greying hair. His tan skin was wrinkled from age, but his eyes glowed bright red. He wore a dark red cape over black armor.

"Roxas, come forth."

"Yes, father?" Roxas was a man who appeared to be in his late 30's. He had neat, dark brown hair and dark eyes. He wore a black leather jacket, black pants, and boots.

"Do you feel it?"

Roxas closed his eyes and, within his mind, saw a red energy aura in the distance. "I do, but what is it?"

"The Slayer has arrived in Bayview. He's right above our heads. And the Nemeton's power has awakened. We can finally begin to break free."

"The Slayer?" Came a menacing voice. A man wearing crimson colored loose clothing approached the two. He looked human, like the other two. He had black hair, dark eyes and light skin. "Sounds like a fight to me..."

A smooth, female voice said, "You always want to fight, Phoenix..." A petite asian woman stepped out from the shadows. Her eyes were green like emeralds, and her hair was jet black. She wore a green and black kimono. "Is there anything else running through that simple brain of yours?"

"I didn't ask you, Medusa."

"It's just an observation." She countered, her voice maintaining its calm composure.

"Silence!" Cepheus ordered, his eyes glowing with irritation. "The seal on the Nemeton can weaken, I can feel it. I want a Phantom up on the surface as soon as possible. It is time to make our move."

"We'll get right on it." Roxas said, bowing his head.

~The Next Night~

"It totally happened, didn't it?" Noah asked to confirm, leading the others to nod their heads. "I need to sit down." Noah slowly lowered himself to digest the information he wished to be false. The Five walked around the downtown area, contemplating on what to do next.

"We don't even know how to connect to the Spirits," Liam pointed out. "And our powers? I mean Jared has his, but what about the rest of us?"

Jared felt an impulse in his mind, more like a signal. It was his Slayer sense, telling him that Supernatural danger was near. Vampires possessed by the Twilight Specters were running around, attacking civilians. Now possessed by the Twilight, the Vampires were much stronger and if the sun were out, they'd be immune to it.

The Vampires were accompanied by grey foot soldiers. They had orange cracks in their skin, their eyes glowed just as orange and they had yellow horns on their heads. They were called, 'Shadowlites,' foot soldiers of the Twilight.

"Stay here," Jared told the others before sprinting forward.

"He really told us to stay, didn't he?" Noah asked in disbelief. "Two words: No way."

"Back off!" Jared cried, kicking a Vampire away from a girl. He reached into his back pocket and withdrew a wooden stake. From there, he began to stab different vampires in the hearts, turning them into dust. The Vampires were easy for him, but the other creatures weren't. Jared front flipped off a car and stabbed forward, but his stake became lodged in the creature's chest. It kicked him away and broke his weapon.

"Oh no," Jared whispered. Suddenly, the creatures froze in place, as if they were a photograph. Behind Jared, stood Noah who looked just as surprised as the former. A thin blue aura was around his hands as he asked, "What did I just do?"

"I think that's your power," Jared whispered in relief. The others appeared next to them, shocked at what Noah did. However, the creatures became unfrozen and jumped at the Teens. Liam, on instinct, threw his hands above him, erecting a green bubble barrier around the Five. The creatures hit the barrier and bounced off of it. Sonia stepped up as the barrier came down and clapped her hands together, sending a concentrated beam of sound outward, knocking the creatures over.

"Awesome!" Liam cheered as Sonia laughed in disbelief. Alicia felt a jolt run through her body, making her jump in place. In her mind, she felt malicious intent closing in on her.

"Behind us!" She pointed, more creatures coming after them.

"There's too many now," Noah whispered, taking a few steps back.

Hundreds of tiny white and blue orbs appeared in front of the Five and disappeared, revealing Rachel alongside another Teen they recognized.

"Devon Leo?" Sonia asked in disbelief. "You're in on this too?"

"Yup, I'm your Guardian Angel," He winked. "Orbing," Devon motioned upward and winked, referring to the method by which Light-Watchers teleport.

Rachel walked forward and raised her Katana. "Stay here." With that, they charged forward. Devon stayed with the Five as Rachel managed to hold off a good number of attackers in a different part of downtown.

Jared sighed, "She actually told us to stay,"

Noah clapped his hand on Jared's back and said, "Doesn't feel good, does it?" The group ran off, but Jared hesitated before he too followed.

After only a few moments, it was clear to the Five that Rachel couldn't hold out. She swung her katana, sending white wind slashes in all directions. Each slash struck a group of Shadowlites, making them explode into bits of ice. Things got worse when a large, Gargoyle creature showed up.

"A Phantom…" Rachel readied herself. The Gargoyle charged at her, swatting Rachel's attacks away like flies. The Phantom plus the Vampires and Shadowlites overwhelmed her. Within moments, Rachel was trapped in the Gargoyle's grasp.

"Human… Mystic Knight… you will be trouble." It squeezed Rachel tighter, causing her to scream. Wisps of white energy began to leak from Rachel and flow into the Gargoyle's mouth.

Rachel tried to break free, but she felt as if her strength was sapping away. "What're you doing?!"

"I'm taking… your power…"

"Shadowlites!" The Phantom ordered. "Attack the others!"

"We can't just do nothing," Liam pointed out. "Devon, you can't let us sit here."

Devon gritted his teeth and replied, "Hm... If you guys somehow ended up down there with a little 'angelic intervention,' I wouldn't say anything about it."

Rachel was forced to her limits. She wouldn't have held out much longer. But, a wall of green energy rose from the ground and forced her from the Phantom's grip. Liam caught her, with a grin on his face. A flash of blue zipped by and thrashed the Vamps. Sonia lifted her hands and emitted a thin yellow aura, shooting a concentrated blast of sound waves at the fiends, destroying them.

"We came to help!" Noah said as he slowed down.

Rachel was going to lecture them, but an explosion knocked them to the ground. As the four stood up in front of Rachel, more Vampires and Shadowlites swarmed them. Jared stood off to the side, his eyes closed. His fists were tightened and his mind was racing. He finally opened them with minor resolve. Reluctantly, he charged forth.

The Shadowlites advanced on his classmates, but Jared flipped over all of them and landed in front of Rachel. He turned around toward Rachel and closed his eyes.

When he opened them again, his usual brown eyes were red. A strange red symbol appeared under he and Rachel. A blue hole as wide as a CD appeared on Rachel's sternum. Jared raised his right hand and stuck it into the mysterious blue portal.

Streams of beautiful silver ribbon-like structures flowed out of it. Energy ribbons also swirled around the circumference of the symbol on the ground. Jared started to withdraw his hand, but when it came out, it was wrapped in a purple crystal-like substance. By then, his whole arm was out, but the crystal kept coming out of Rachel as Jared pulled.

Jared then jumped back two feet and raised his right arm into the air. The crystal that covered his wrist stretched up to at least three feet. Two streams of energy swirled around the crystal and broke it to bits. When the substance was gone, a three foot silver sword was held in Jared's hand.

"My turn to show you my powers," Jared calmly stated. Rachel was on her knees with her eyes closed. The blue hole in her chest was still there. The sword shot a silver light into the sky and made a high pitched ringing sound. The creatures started to run at Jared. The teen was unfazed, looking like he was in a trance. At a blinding speed, he slashed at them, turning them into dust.

Jared jumped into the air, literally hopping to different aerial locations by forming red energy stepping stones. He swung the sword and sent a long silver stream through the Shadowlites, destroying them. The sword then burst into purple lights and re-entered Rachel's chest. When it did, the portal disappeared and Rachel woke up.

The Gargoyle monster growled, "You Five are powerful... Let me have it!" He charged at the Five, catching them off guard. He blasted the Five away and onto their backs. The wind knocked out of them, they struggled to stand.

"It won't end like this." Noah said, some sort of flame sparking in his heart.

"It's not over." Jared added. "We're not going down!" The Five reached into the sky on instinct and let their energies fly. Immediately, their auras erupted with power. Jared's was red, Noah's was blue, Alicia's was pink, Liam's was green, and Sonia's was yellow. Orbs materialized in front of them, each glowing just as bright. Within each orb, was a sprite of sorts, more like miniature versions of the Ancient Warriors.

Meanwhile, at Jared's home, the Chandelier in the hallway began to erupt with even more white light, causing Cody to look in from the kitchen and gasp.

Rachel was still conscious, and she saw the spheres reacting. "It's feeding off of their emotions." She smiled. "Dr. Bly, are you seeing this?" She asked into an earpiece she wore.

"It's unbelievable!" Xander replied. "Hold tight, it's time to send them their Morphers."

From the Command Center, Xander whispered a spell that created an energy sphere between his hands. He sent a mental message via a spell to the Five as he teleported the sphere to them. When it arrived, the energy split off into pieces and wrapped around the wrists of the Five, forming blue Morphers. The Morphers had twist dials attached to rectangular touch screens.

"What are these?" Sonia asked.

"Take those spheres and connect them with your Morphers!" Xander instructed.

"The Spirits!" The Phantom realized. "NO!" It charged at them, but Rachel sprinted forward to protect her comrades, who all appeared to be in a trance. She got in the Phantom's way as he threw a claw forward. The claw struck her and swatted her away.

"You pest!" The Phantom tried to advance on the Five again, but he was blown back by a rainbow light.

Jared whispered, "If we merge with them, it'll give us power. So… let's do it."

The five lined up and pressed the crystals to their Morphers. Each sunk into the devices, making them glow. With the last of her strength, Rachel quickly got up and got back the side of her comrades, "Guys! I'm giving you the last of my Mana to fully activate your Morphers and release the bindings on your powers."

"What will that do to you?" Alicia asked, worried.

"It'll probably cause the rest of my own powers as a Magic User to disappear, at least for a while. But you guys are more important." She closed her eyes, having made up her mind. She let her Mana seep through her and emanate as a white aura. "Release," She beckoned, letting the energy wrap around the Five.

Their collective vision flashed with white, and they were in a white room. Five cloaked figures walked toward them in unison. They stopped a foot away from each teen and held out their arms. As if in a trance, the teens grabbed the cloaked hands.

Back in reality, the teens looked up. They pointed their Morphers forward and turned the dial. Rachel stepped behind her friends and waited.

A female voice, one that sounded like The Pink Emissary's, announced, "Awaken."

The Five crossed their arms in front of their chests in an 'X', extended their right arms forward while lifting their left arms, in 90 degrees, to their sides similar Time Force's movement, then they pulled their right arms back to press their middle and pointer fingers on the main button of their Morphers.

As they did this, they called out, "Spirit Legend, Awaken!" They pressed the touch screen behind the dial.

- Morphing Sequence -

Jared is standing in a neon red space that is moving downward. A circle of red energy appears at his feet and moves up his body, scanning him. As it goes along, it leaves small, red orbs of energy. When the circle gets to his head, it disappears, and the energy particles flash into Jared and burst outward, forming his ranger suit.

From left to right, Noah, Alicia, Liam and Sonia are going through the same process, but the spaces share their Ranger colors.

- End Morphing Sequence -

"Spirit of Fire: Legend Red!"

"Spirit of Water: Legend Blue!"

"Spirit of Wind: Legend Pink!"

"Spirit of Earth: Legend Green!"

"Spirit of Lightning: Legend Yellow!"

"Ancient Spirits Unite! Power Rangers: Next Legend, Start up!"

Rachel grinned and weakly said, "They did it..."

"Okay, guys! Let's go!" Jared called out.

"Right!"

"X-Defender!" Jared materialized a white, black and red handgun. He fired at the Gargoyle and hit it repeatedly in the chest. His teammates followed suit.

"Vampires, attack!" Twilight possessed Vamps appeared and charged.

"X-Sword!" The Rangers materialized white, black and red swords in their opposite hands.

Jared shot a Vamp and sliced another. Noah super sped through the crowd, slashing as he went along. Liam low swept a vamp and sliced it. Alicia and Sonia stood back to back, sniping the dark creatures down.

In a matter of minutes, the Vamps were dust.

"Then how about this?" The Phantom asked. "Shadowlites, attack!" Grey humanoid foot soldiers appeared and attacked.

"Rangers!" Dr. Bly's voice came through communicators in their helmets. "Use your personal weapons!"

"Spirit Weapon: Legend Sword!" A red hilted sword appeared in Jared's right hand. He slashed down three Shadowlites and blocked a strike from another.

"Spirit Weapon: Legend Staff!" A blue staff with a curved blade on the top end materialized. Noah grabbed. "I can use this like a lacrosse stick." He jumped into the air and sliced a Shadowlite down the middle. He spun in above and jabbed another Shadowlite through the chest.

"Spirit Weapon: Legend Bow!" A pink and silver bow appeared in Alicia's left hand. She focused her energy into her right. The Pink ranger created a pink arrow made of energy and strung it. She let it fly and it ripped through many Shadowlites.

"Spirit Weapon: Legend Axe!" A green and black handled double bladed Axe appeared in front of Liam. He grabbed it and swung it into a Shadowlite and sent it flying into other Shadowlites.

"Spirit Weapon: Legend Daggers!" Sonia grabbed the twin daggers and struck down two Shadowlites. She front flipped forward and sliced another.

Within minutes, the rangers were only faced with the Phantom.

"I'm gonna have to take your spirits after I kill you!"

"Just try it!" Noah challenged.

"Let's go, guys!" Jared said. He jumped forward and slashed at the Phantom's arm. He screamed in pain and sent his other arm to swat at Jared, but Alicia shot an energy arrow into the hand. Liam jumped up and sliced it off. Noah and Sonia dashed forward and drove their weapons into the Phantom's chest.

"Guys, clear out!" Jared instructed. Noah and Sonia jumped away and Jared made the tiger hand sign. A small sphere appeared on his joined fingers.

"Soul Fire, Ignite!" The small sphere erupted into a full blown blast of fire. It clashed into the Phantom and set him on fire.

"No! Curse you, Rangers!" He disappeared in a burst of red lights. The Rangers cheered at their first victory as they helped Rachel to her feet. Together, they de-morphed, feeling the energy of the Grid leave their bodies. Though they weren't wrapped in it, they still felt a connection.

Little did they know, a pair of eyes watching from a semi-safe distance saw the entire battle. "No way..." Tobias whispered to himself.

- Dark Void -

Cepheus was shocked as he observed the battle. "Power Rangers? And using the Ancient Spirits, no less?

Roxas was shocked as well. "I should've known there'd be resistance..."

Medusa said, "They're rookies, though. We can easily beat them..."

Phoenix said nothing, he only observed Jared and grinned. He thought to himself, "A possible challenge..."

- HQ -

"Will Rachel be okay?" Alicia asked Devon. They stood in the infirmary around Rachel, who was in a bed unconscious.

"Yeah, she needs to rest. Her powers were stripped from her after all." Devon and the others walked back into the main bridge where Xander was.

Noah cut in, "I know this may be inappropriate, but how awesome were we?"

Liam laughed. "We were pretty good."

"Yeah," Jared said with a heavy heart. "But guys? You haven't seen anything yet."

Noah draped his arm around Jared's neck. "Let's worry about that later. For now, let's hang for a bit."

"Are you serious?" Jared asked, surprised.

Dr. Bly walked to the doorway. He said, "Jared's right. The fights will only get more dangerous. But, I'll be here to help you. You'll be able to handle it. From here on, your Legend starts now."

Alicia nodded. "Then we'll meet it head on."

The others nodded as well, with conviction in their hearts.

As the Five teleported back to the city they walked down the street together. A black cat watched them from a tree. It said to itself, "Was giving those five the Ancient powers really a good idea? Only time will tell."

- Gordon Manor -

"We'll see you tomorrow," Noah fist bumped Jared as he walked through the front doors.

"Definitely," Jared grinned, seeing his four friends off. The sunset light peered through the stained glass windows of the doors. The colored stains filtered the lights into dancing shades of red, blue, green, pink, and yellow, signaling a new hope for the world. Jared stood there until his friends disappeared down the street. He backed up, and took a breath. With a wider smile, he made his eyes glow red, he raised his right hand, and let silver ripples of energy pour out of his palm. The ripples danced around the doors, making them close.
