Well folks, it looks like it's the moment we have all been waiting for! For the next 13 stories, we will be following Mystery Inc on an epic journey, with a Funky Phantom story coming out every two stories. So without further ado, let's get started!
Legend speaks of an ancient chest filled with the most dangerous and hazardous ghouls and when it was locked, the ancient warlock, Vincent Van Ghoul had kept it hidden from the world. No one has touched the chest ever since, until now...
It was summertime in Coolsville, and the entire Mystery Inc gang was meeting at the malt shop for a special announcement from Daphne.
"Thank you all for coming, gang." said Daphne.
"So, why'd you call us here, Daphne?" asked Fred.
"Yeah, and when can we eat? I'm starving." said Shaggy.
"In due time, Shag." Daphne said.
"Well can due time be right now?" He asked.
"Fine." Daphne sighed. "Anyways, my sister is getting married!"
"Your sister? Which one?" asked Velma.
"Donna, the astronaut." Daphne clarified. "We are putting on a big fancy wedding in Hawaii and we want you guys to come!"
"A wedding? Oh, I love weddings!" Madelyn gushed. "Oh, no wait. I can't go."
"Why not?" asked Daphne.
"I'm going over to magic school for the summer." Madelyn explained.
"Yeah, and I've just signed up for the counselorship program at Camp Little Moose." Fred added.
"And of course, you already know we are going to science camp." Velma and Marcie finished.
Daphne sighed as she turned towards Shaggy and Scooby. "I suppose that leaves the two of you to come along for the wedding."
"You betcha, Daph!" Shaggy exclaimed. "We wouldn't miss this for the world!"
"That and Raggy's folks don't want us sitting around the house all day." Scooby added.
"Say Shag, is your sister Sugie interested in coming?" Daphne asked.
"I don't know, I'll check with her." Shaggy called his sister. "Hey sis! Do you wanna come to Daphne's sister's wedding? You can't? Why not? Oh. Okay then, see ya soon."
"What happened?" asked Daphne.
"Sugie can't come." said Shaggy. "She says that Wilfred is taking her on a camping trip with their friends."
"Aw, that's too bad." Daphne remarked.
"Well, I guess it's just the three of us." Scooby shrugged.
"When is the wedding, anyways, Daphne?" asked Shaggy.
"At the end of the summer, but my parents prefer if we RSVP months in advance so she'll be prepared." Daphne said. "They don't like surprises."
"Of course." Shaggy nodded.
"I'm sure they'll love to you have you attend." Daphne said.
As soon as they got to Daphne's house, they told her parents and Donna about everything.
"Absolutely not!" They barked. "We are not allowing those hoodlums at our social gatherings!"
"But they're my friends, Daddy." said Daphne.
"I don't care who they are!" said Barty. "Those two will eat us out of house and home!"
Daphne sighed. "I thought we've settled on this a while ago when I mentioned that I was going to invite my friends to come to the wedding after Donna's engagement party."
"We didn't think you meant these friends." Nan placed her hands on her hips.
"Please mommy." Daphne batted her eyelashes. "I promise they'll behave."
"Oh very well then." Nan rolled her eyes. "But keep an eye on those two, especially that dog!"
"Rog? Where?" Scooby looked around.
Later, Scooby, Shaggy and Daphne went back to Shaggy's house to watch some TV.
"So, Superman can go back in time, right? So, why doesn't he just go back in time to stop himself from releasing Zod?" asked Daphne.
"It would be pretty short movie, if he did." Scooby remarked.
Just then, Shaggy saw a duffel bag on the floor.
"Zoinks! That's Sugie's bag!" He said. "She must've left it here by mistake!"
"Retter call her." Scooby advised.
"Right!" Shaggy called Sugie. "Hello sis, you left your bag here, so you'd better come back and get it! What? You can't? You've just finished setting up camp? Well don't worry, I'll bring it over. Okay. Bye!"
"What is it, Raggy?" asked Scooby.
"Sugie says we need to bring the bag to her." Shaggy explained.
"But how are we going to get there?" asked Daphne. "Freddy took the Mystery Machine when he left for Little Moose."
"We could go over to Dee-Dee's place and borrow the Enigma Machine." suggested Shaggy.
"Then, I suppose we should get moving, then." Daphne said.
A little while later, our heroes were on their way to the woods outside of town.
"Shaggy, are you sure you know where you're going?" asked Daphne. "I don't see the campgrounds anywhere."
"Well, we've dropped Sugie off at the campsite before when she went camping with Wilfred, so I know the way." Shaggy said as they drove past a sign indicating that the campgrounds are ten miles away.
As they drove past, a bush blew off the sign, revealing the words, 'CAMPGROUNDS, NEXT LEFT. RED LION WOODS, TEN MILES AHEAD.'
It didn't take long before they were driving through a very dark part of the woods.
"Jeepers." said Daphne. "Either the days are getting shorter or we just ended up in a very dark part of the woods. Shaggy, are you sure you know where we are going?"
"Like, I'm certain." Shaggy said as he looked around. "Though now that you mentioned it, the trees in this part of the woods don't look familiar."
"I think we better stop and check the map." Daphne advised, prompting Shaggy to pull over.
Shaggy pulled over and the gang started to look at the map.
"Let's see..." They said.
Just then, some sort of bird swooped and grabbed the map with his talons.
"Hey! Get back here!" They said as they chased after the feathered pest.
Unfortunately, the bird was too fast and flighty to catch up with.
"Well that's just great." Daphne placed her hands on her hips. "Now how are we going to get out of here?"
Scooby then saw some sort of glowing light in the distance.
"Rey rook!" He pointed to the light.
"Scooby? What is it, boy?" asked Shaggy.
"Rover there." Scooby pointed. "Rere's a light."
"And when there's light, there's a source and when there's a source, there's civilization, which means we might have found a way out of here!" Daphne proclaimed.
"Then, what are we waiting for?" Shaggy asked. "Come on!"
The gang made it to the source of the light, which was some sort of building.
Shaggy read the sign. "Miss. Grimwood's School for Girls."
"Well, it's better than nothing, I guess." Daphne shrugged.
As they made their way towards the gate, a gust of wind blew the taped sign reading "Girls" off the main sign, revealing the word "GHOULS" beneath it.
Author's Note:
Well folks, it looks like the gang made a wrong turn and to a familiar place. Read "Flim Flam's Gang" and you'll see what I mean.
