At 14 years of age, Izuku was used to varied looks everywhere he went.
He wore the school uniform like everyone else but had his favorite hoodie over the black button up of Aldera. It was completely black with faded grey stripes on the sleeves. His sacramento green scarf coiled snugly around his neck, hiding his mouth. The hood only let a few bangs of his fluffy green hair poke out. He slouched in his seat, relaxing with a lazy smile hidden behind his scarf.
Some, mainly girls and women, found him an odd kind of cute with how he flopped his oversized sleeves everytime he moved. Doing so as a random girl took a seat next to him, and without any knowledge of who she is or purpose behind it, Izuku gave her a childish wave of with a smile. The girl blinked but giggled with the rest of her friends as she gave a little hello in return.
Others found him creepy or unsettling with how quiet he could be. He was far from anti-social and enjoyed talking with people, but never did so unless addressed first in a casual setting. He'd only been in a handful of fights that were well known across the school, and anyone who witnessed them agreed that the shift in demeanor was almost maniacal. Izuku would usually abandon the carefree greens for more malignant ones. They became cold and venomous, like the mouth of a black mamba.
His quirk did make things worse for that end, really all of them, but he didn't care. He would be a hero and that was that.
"Alright, it's time to begin class. Everyone please take your seat, Midoriya don't slouch, and stop using your quirk Yoruyuki."
…
"How was your day, sweetie?"
"Boring. Like always. A few girls decided to sit and talk with me at lunch though, so I guess that was kind of cool."
Inko smiled as she stirred the nikomi udon they were having for dinner. "Well that's good. Are you heading out again after dinner?"
Like always, Midoriya waved his sleeves with a cute mewl. "Just for a little while. I kinda wished there was more excitement today."
"Okay then. Just try to make it back before 9. That damn snow villain is on the move again from what I hear. If only they'd just get All Might on the case…" Izuku smiled again and waited till dinner was over to head out.
The walk was kind of giddy for Izuku as anticipation grew. There was only one place that could get him this happy, aside from U.A that is.
He stopped at the entryway to what appeared like an old warehouse, only there were large openings on a few spots. This hanger-like building tucked deep in the back between buildings was shadowed with hardly a light coming massive steel walls were corroded and chains hung on the left side of the roof, a few workbenches here and there were still left over. The right side was made of bricks, charred from whatever had happened here. It was an eerie, cold, almost macabre space that he enjoyed being at.
It was his only sanctity since he made no attempt at friends, like a madman in his asylum cell.
"Dammit, he's getting away!"
Izuku snapped his head around to an incoming voice. It sounded like he was in a panic.
"This is officer Nakajima calling in! We've got a runner near Tatoin subway station, just east past the Nine-Eye sushi place! We need for this one!"
This piqued the greenette's curiosity and surely enough to officers chasing an armed crook with an alligator's tail slid into the old depot. "Young man, watch out!"
Before they knew it, the criminal holding what looked like a duffle bag aimed his revolver. "You fuckers back. The FUCK. OFF OR HE GETS ONE RIGHT BETWEEN THE FUCKIN EYES! I SWEAR I'LL DO IT! And you, you so much as move a muscle and I'll-...I'll...What?"
The fast paced moment slowed to a halt for everyone. Izuku, through the mayhem, hadn't moved. He stood completely still, looking over his shoulder with a smile and soft eyes. The mischief turned the forest into a sea of Loki's poison. He started leaning backwards, painfully slow until the barrel was pressed near his temple, just behind the eye.
"...Well, aren't you a bold one."
"You little-" Not another word was said and the cops watched.
Izuku spun and ducked into a single leg squat, extending his foot forward and slamming the crook's stomach with the ball of his feet. Before he could fully hunch over, Midoriya spun on his foot and hit the man's chin with his heel. He stumbled back in pain, trying to get his bearings as the cops watched Izuku disappear from in front of him. He reappeared behind their charge and with a single jump, the greenette planted himself on his shoulders. His back flip repositioned them a few feet apart once more. It was like watching a corpse fight.
"ARGH. You little shit! Who do you think you are!?" The tailed criminal trained the barrel on the three once more but Izuku was quick to act since he no longer held the element of surprise.
With the elegance of a ribbon dancer and the skill of a shinobi, Izuku sent out his sleeve, which somehow extended 3 feet more, and wrapped the opening around the gun like a mouth. Anger mixed with panic and fear. This wasn't normal, both his style and ability. He couldn't tell if it was a quirk or not letting this random teen do this.
The hand with the gun was now in the same sleeve as Izuku's left, but the greenette had an idea. The burglar shot a few rounds down the sleeve and didn't get what he thought was going to happen.
"KID NO!...H-How!?-"
The area where Izuku's actual hand was located convulsed in quick bursts. As this happened, he kept the sleeve at its maximum length, tethering him to the villain. With him at the center of his path, Izuku ran for an old workbench and yanked as he did so. The violent pull jerked his opponent forward, causing him to stumble further and right in front of Izuku as he turned around into a backflip. With a graceful descend, he kicked straight into the crook of the man's neck, knocking him out immediately.
The officers were stunned. An armed runaway that nearly escaped two experienced law enforcers was stopped by a random kid with the oddest combat style they'd ever seen.
"Hmm. For shame good sir...For. Shame~."
The man, Nakajima if he remembered correctly, nudged his partner. She holstered her gun and walked towards Izuku cautiously. "E-Easy there, kid, um...shit! L-Listen, just get-get o-off the punk and we'll look you over. Did your quirk h-help you do any of that?"
"Sort of. I'm naturally stronger and more durable. A little faster too. I'm not hurt."
Nakajima gave an exasperated face of surprise. "Kid! He shot down your sleeve. I'm going to ask you later how the hell you did that but we need to get you some help. I've got no clue how you're still standing but quirk or not, those bullets need to get looked at!"
"Please stop calling me kid. It's a little demeaning. I'm Izuku Midoriya." He said nonchalantly, his eyes neutral as if they were examining them. "Also, the bullets never hit. Look."
The duo were sure their faces would forever be frozen in a daze. Izuku let the extra foot of cloth hang down off his hand, where 5 of the 8 bullets sprinkled the floor. The green scarf hid Izuku's small smile, content at his reflexes.
"Wow…"
"Holy cow… and a-are you barefoot?" They got a nod from him but were confused when he held up his arms.
"Aren't you going to arrest me?"
"A-Arrest you? For what?"
"I didn't use my quirk but I did intervene in the apprehension of a criminal."
The officers understood where he was coming from and although they should do as he suggested…
"We won't. Just his once." Izuku blinked and Nakajima's partner couldn't help but find it cute.
"Eh? But...isn't it the law?"
The officer found it in him to smile at the innocent understanding. "Normally, I would have to take you in but you didn't use your quirk. You said sort of, so I can tell it acts like a mutation and you don't really decide when it happens. We can let you go this time, but only this once."
He turned to his partner who was in the process of getting the robber on their feet, holding him by his waist since she'd already cuffed his hands. "You'll have to come to the station, though. We'll file it in as self-defense. He did threaten to kill you after all."
Izuku nodded, although he was aware how much this would scare his mother. He was thankful the officer was being extremely generous by finding a loophole in the events so quickly, let alone putting it into action. It was going to be interesting riding in the back with an unconscious criminal, there was at least that to settle his nerves.
Inko speed walked through the Police station, not even waiting to hear the officer tell her where Izuku was. She spotted him sitting in a chair, lotus position, while talking to a man in a beige coat. Not a single moment was wasted before she plowed into her boy.
"Izuku, I was so worried! I told you to be safe! Oh god, I'm not letting you out of my sight for a week."
The teen smiled into her shoulder from behind his scarf, followed by the returned embrace with his floppy hoodie. "I'm alright, mom. If it gets you to relax, then I don't see a problem with keeping me home for a while."
The detective cleared his throat, although the scene was both heartwarming and amusing. "Excuse me, I'm detective Naomasa Tsukauchi. I just took your son's statements and we'd like to discuss some things about the arrest he was involved with."
"A-Arrest? Is my son going to prison!?"
Tsukauchi chuckled. "The exact opposite, he's being commended with a warning. Ironic for them to both be in the same sentence. Come in, we'll recount events to clear it up. You should be proud of him, Ms. Midoriya."
And so, Inko sat through the story of her son's impressive battle, horrified by its start. She was soon beaming with pride and a gleam in her eyes told them she was aware Izuku could do all these things. Izuku was sitting in the lotus position on the floor this time, keeping the lonely desk receptionist company. She giggled at his silly waves and cute speech patterns. It took all her heart's will not to crush him in a hug once more.
The petite mother knew the façade Izuku played at. Having his quirk alone was an experience she couldn't imagine for him, even more so since the fickle behavior most knew him for was part of the act. Innocence was all he could turn to when he embodied the monsters under everyone's beds.
"Ms. Midoriya, I know this seems strange considering the complexity of how this all happened. I'm sure both your days went from 0 to all this and it's a lot to think about. However, there's something you can take as a benefit from all this. We haven't told him yet since we need your approval above all. Still, his love for heroes will most likely get a yes from him."
"R-Really. This...this seems too good to be true." Stuttered Inko.
"Considering the talent your son displayed, it's appropriate more than anything." Retorted Tsukauchi.
"Normally, circumstances would have us take in your son for his actions, but the loopholes in this can bring that down to a strike on his record as aggression in self-defense. With that said, Izuku can enroll with a hero of his choice under a delinquency program. Technically, we can set this up with the other charges he has on his school record. Not only will he learn under a hero, we can technically forego the usual practices since he did nothing wrong in all these situations."
Inko was ecstatic, yet incredibly confused. "This is real? But if Izuku can't be at fault, how do you set him up in the program. He isn't a delinquent in that case."
"This is fairly new and is only going based on record information so he passes in. So how about , take a loophole this once?"
Tsukauchi and Inko usually didn't like playing with the rules and taking advantage of things, but this was too good to pass up. "...You need to know my son's quirk, no?"
The both beamed. "That would be good ahead of time."
Inko turned to look over at her son. His silly movements had now attracted 3 other female officers, one of which was coddling him, petting his fluffy hair. It was such a far cry of what actually lay inside him. Without moving, her eyes returned to Tsukauchi.
"His quirk, if I remember correctly...was called Black and White."
