Chapter 79

With the first aid kit they had on board of the transport ship, one of the doctors on Captain Marks team was able to stabilize the Queen of Naboo for now. Meanwhile some of the other crewmembers were trying their best to repair the systems of the ship, because if they all could agree on something then that was the thing that Captain Mark had said during his little motivational speech:

"I know that situation looks bad right now, but just sticking our head in the sand and do nothing would be the worst thing to do right now. It is all hands-on deck now, as we try to repair the systems of the ship as good as possible and of course to get the impulse engines online again has to be considered as one of the priorities. "

Captain Palleon didn't waste any time with giving the order to the Star Destroyer, which was the closest to the Planet Florrum at the moment: The Death's Head. He knew for sure that Captain Harbid and his crew were the right people for this mission:

At the end there will be another win for Grand Admiral Thrawn and we're going to be one step closer to get rid of the New Republic once and for all. He thought with a big grin one his face and knowing that he had been on the winner side since the start of this war was such a good feeling.

Meanwhile the New Republic Military Flagship was still twenty minutes from the current position of the damaged transport ship and as Leia didn't want to be that pessimistic, she couldn't help but ask herself the question: Will we be able to reach the Planet, before some other pirates attack the ship or will the Pirates of Florrum already have grabbed the little transport ship to take it apart and maybe sell the parts?

As quickly as that last part of the thought had come to her mind, she tried her best to ban it from her mind again as quickly as possible. She needed to have faith in the abilities of the team, that was on board of the transport ship with her mother at this moment and believe in the fact that they would together be able to come up with some kind of plan to get themselves out of this mess before it was too late. Dressed in her comfortable white robe, which she had worn since her days as a Senator in the Old Republic Mon Mothma also thought a lot about the current situation that her long-time good friend had found herself in, after she had just kind of risen from the dead unexpected and Chancellor of the New Republic did have mixed feelings about it: Of course she was glad to have her friend back, but at the same she was also shocked at first and didn't know if she ever would be able to comprehend how this whole thing could happen in the first place.

I don't know how but deep down I know that you will find a way to get you and the rest of the crew out of this no-win situation. Then she stepped by Leia's side, who stood right in the center of the control center of the Flagship and hadn't left the bridge for a while:

"Even if I already know, what you're going to say I'm still going to say it anyway. I know how important the well- being of your mother is and believe me when I say that I feel the same way, but I'm a little worried about your well being right now and you should take a little break at least."

Leia knew that she looked pale, because of the fact that she had been working so much the past weeks as the New Republic wasn't doing good in the war against Grand Admiral Thrawn's Forces. The past weeks she had allowed herself such little sleep, as she had become kind of obsessed with figuring out why the New Republic was doing so bad in battle and how they could turn things around in their favor before it would too late to save their young democracy.

"I'm aware of the fact that I've been working non-stop for a while now, but I think that you're familiar with the old saying that desperate times call for desperate measures and after this is mission is over, I will take a little break as I can delegate some of my work to my Chief of Staff Greer for example."

As sign of a support, Mon Mothma put her hand on Leia's right should and she was glad that her colleague and good friend saw the error in her ways but at the same time the amount of dedication, which she had for her work reminded her so much of her mother.

"That is good to hear and now let's get back to rescue our people before they fall into the hands of the enemy." Mon Mothma then said, as she was aware of the fact that the area of the space where their ship was stranded was a very dangerous one, because some the criminal individuals that you didn't want to mess with had their base of operations there.

Of course, Leia had been so thankful for all the support, which Mon Mothma had given her in the past and she definitely had been a great friend since they had first met each other during the start of the Galactic Civil War against the Empire.

Back on the damaged transport ship, the crewmen on the two consoles in the cockpit of the little transport ship were already quite busy with doing some minor repairs so they could at least get the impulse engines the sensors operational again.
