Sonia dashed out of the back of the school. It was late in the afternoon, but she decided to stay in and practice her guitar. She was waiting on Jules, who was supposed to come and play the flute, but an alert from Jared brought her out of the practice room.

"Guys, I'm on my way!" Sonia called into her Morpher. She turned the corner and stopped. Jules was having a heated argument with her mother. She was keeping her arms at her sides, trying to stay under control. Her left hand was tightly gripped around her flute.

"Mija, you can't keep this up forever!" Mrs. Sanchez protested.

"Mom, you don't understand. I need to do this! My friends are counting on me!"

"But at what cost?!"
"Just leave it alone, Mom!" Jules shoved her flute into her Mother's hands and ran away. Sonia waited a few seconds before running to catch up.

The girls arrived to see their friends engaged in battle with two demons. Both wore black suits and had pale, blue skin. Their eyes were sickly green and their teeth were jagged and sharp. Noah kicked one, but it blocked his foot and threw him into the air. The other waved its hands, causing a blue aura to erupt around Noah. It then clenched its hands, making the aura choke Noah in midair.

"Noah!" Liam cried, raising his X-Defender. He took a shot and injured the attacker, forcing him to drop the Blue Ranger. Jared blasted the demons back with some fireballs while Alicia and Asher jumped in for a close fight. However, the demons got the better of the Rangers and blasted them away.

"Guys!" Sonia shouted about to advance.

Jules grabbed Sonia's hands and said, "Stay calm and breathe."

Sonia did so immediately. She then felt a chilling feeling wash over her. Jules let her purple and black energy flow out of her and into Sonia's body. Sonia felt her energy grow tenfold. Feeling her active powers growing, Sonia lifted her left hand and pointed them at the demons. A larger than usual burst of sound erupted from her palm and knocked the demons over.

"Woah!" Sonia gasped.

Jules said, "My powers can augment yours and the others."

"That's amazing!"

"Ready?" She asked, materializing her Morpher.

"You bet," Sonia nodded.

"Biomerge, Spirit Legend!"

After the battle, Jules returned to the school where she found that her mother left her flute in the girl's locker. She sat in the practice room playing her favorite song, "River Flows in You."

Sonia slowly walked in, entranced by the melody. Jules sensed her friend and stopped playing. "Oh, hey, Sonia."

"Jules... Are you doing okay?" Sonia sat down next to her friend.

"Yes, of course. Why?"
"I'm just a little concerned. Earlier, I saw you and your Mom arguing."

"It's nothing, really." Jules denied immediately. "Just regular Mom and daughter stuff, you know?" Jules gripped her flute, trying to keep her breathing under control. No, she wasn't okay. She felt as if she were about to burst. The weight of the world, it seemed to her, was heavily resting on her shoulders.

"Okay... but if you need to talk... I'm here."

At that moment, Jules felt a rush of emotions flood her. She wrapped her arms around Sonia and cried into her shoulder. "Things are just... hard..."

"What's wrong?"

"I'm scared, Sonia... I'm scared I won't be able to live up to expectations that were set up for me... I... I..."

"Hey, hey... No one's expecting you to do anything. Well, not us, you're friends. You have no idea how lucky we are to have you."

Jules hugged the Yellow Ranger again. "Thanks, Sonia. You're a true friend."

"Anytime..."

Jules suddenly let out a coughing fit, worrying Sonia.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"I'm fine!" Jules held her free hand up as the other caught what she was coughing up. She looked at the hand she pulled away and saw black bile on her palm. "I'm okay... still sick..."

Sonia nodded and began to walk to the bathroom to get tissues.

"Sonia?"

"Yes?" The girl turned around.

"If anything happens to me... anything at all. Please... keep moving forward."

"What brought this up?"

"Nothing... you know... Ranger stuff... It's dangerous. I just wanted someone to know how I feel."

"Of course... But you're not going anywhere. No one is."

Jules sighed and nodded, "I know. We're in this together."

"We are!" Sonia laughed, "After all, purple and yellow make a good combination. Our battle name is 'Violet Lily."

"Violet Lily?" Jules repeated, smiling.

"Liam made it up," Sonia laughed. "You know how he is."

"Yeah," Jules thought about the boy and felt her cheeks heat up and her stomach churn. "I know very well."
