A/N: Ooooo here we go! Here we go! The good stuff! Enjoy! :D
Shadows fell upon a small town in Connecticut. It was just another mid-September sunset... or was it?
Behind the town's High School, on the Football field, ran a teenage boy. He was about fifteen years of age, a sophomore, and was average height. He had light skin, icy blue eyes, neat brown hair and wide shoulders. Right at that moment, he was running for his life. His football jersey was covered in a purple substance and his jeans were ripped.
"Kenny, this way!" Came a voice. He turned to see his Light-Watcher, a Junior, motioning to him from the bleachers. His Light-Watcher was a bit taller than him with raven black hair. He had tan skin and dark brown eyes. He too had the purple substance on his blue plaid button down, which wasn't buttoned revealing a ripped white undershirt. His shorts were a bit ripped as well. In his left hand was a curved dagger.
"Tommy, who are they?!" Kenny asked.
Three figures moved together at a steady pace, following the teenager.
Tommy the Light-Watcher teleported to his charge and grabbed him. As the blue and white orbs warped them into thin air, one of the figures shot an arrow at the two, nailing Tommy through his back and out his stomach.
The Junior fell to his knees. "Run, Kenny." He whispered as he struggled to his feet.
"No, I'm not leaving!" Kenny whispered.
"Go..." Tommy shakily stood tall and raised his weapon. Letting the tears fall from his eyes, Kenny took off down the football field.
Naturally, his Light-Watcher was no match for the three figures and in seconds Tommy lay motionless on the ground.
Kenny kept running until he found himself surrounded by numerous trees. Focusing, his ears were on full alert in the near darkness.
A twig snapped behind him and he felt a heated blast nail his back sending him flying against a tree.
Before he could get himself up, he felt something cold and metallic wrap around his throat and lift him into the air.
"Got him." Said one of the figures.
"Took us along enough." Said the bow wielder, who had a malicious female voice.
The last figure, who also had a female voice, said into her wrist, "This is Twilight Yellow. Target has been captured."
Twilight Red's voice came through the communicator. "Alright. Bring him in."
Kenny struggled against the rod that kept him suspended against the tree.
"Black, time to go." Yellow said.
"I wish I could make him hurt more." Black replied.
The bow wielder, Twilight Pink, punched Kenny in the gut and knocked him out.
"Let's just go." In a flash the three with Kenny the mysterious boy were gone. Tommy the Light-Watcher still lay on the Football field bleeding out, hoping for a miracle...
(Cue Opening)
~Slade's Temple~
Twilight Black dropped an unconscious Kenny onto a pedestal.
"Ok Slade, that's the 8th one this week."
Blue stepped in. He sadistically asked, "Are we gonna kill them or what?"
"No, not quite." Slade answered as he adjusted his mask which revealed only his left eye. "I have a plan for these children."
Pink questioned, "So what are they? They're not the average Supernatural children."
"Not at all. All will be clear in due time. Twilight Red, how are our guests of honor?"
"Let's see." Red answered, snapping his fingers. The sandstone wall to the right opened to reveal five people strapped to the wall... The five hybrid humans who helped Jared.
Jackson was the only one awake up to that point.
Yellow was surprised. "This came out of nowhere."
Slade nodded. "I have kept this between Twilight Red and myself for quite some time. We tracked these five down to capture them. We are now compromising their powers."
Jackson coughed and glared at his captors. "You can't use our full powers now."
Blue replied, "And why would that be?"
"We transferred all our powers to someone you'll never find. He's out in the world."
Black was getting irritated. "Explain what's going on!"
Slade grinned behind his mask. "I know all about the blood ritual. We'll just need to track down your brother, Jackson. He is the only vessel to obtain your powers."
Jackson's eyes widened in shock.
"Yes, Jackson I am aware. When you helped the Slayer control his Lion Phantom, you knew that it would be a matter of time before you were all captured... So you pooled your powers together and transferred it to the younger sibling of the strongest Hybrid in the group: Jackson. Believe me when I say we will find this boy. But for now, you will remain here and we'll suck you dry of your remaining energy."
"You won't get away with this." Jackson threatened.
"My boy... I do believe you are in no position to make that call."
~ Bayview Graveyard ~
"It's around here." Jared told his friends as they walked through the cold graveyard. The moon was dazzling in the sky and the trees swayed in the wind.
Sonia whispered to Alicia, "Where's Bobby? Shouldn't he be joining us?"
"No." Alicia answered, "He has another migraine. Ever since the Bounts left he's been having these major pains and he won't accept any help. I'm worried."
"He'll be fine, I'm sure." Sonia replied.
Noah nudged Jared with his right elbow and said, "I bet you I can dust this next Vampire before you can."
"Oh it is so on." Jared shot back. The two started to sprint forward like children.
Asher sighed and Jules giggled. Liam put his face in his palm, obviously irritated at the behavior.
Jules stopped for a bit and no one noticed. She felt her head pulse and she started to cough. Liam turned and ran back to his friend, beckoning the others to go on.
"Are you okay, Jules?" Liam asked.
"I'm fine, Liam. Thank you."
"Last time one of us brushed off sickness during a graveyard hunt, she ended up in a hospital bed. Are you sure everything's fine?"
Jules gave Liam a reassuring and playful look. "I'm fine, really." She repeated.
A small explosion could be heard a bit away and the two looked over at the source in alarm. However, the smoke quickly cleared with a wave of pink highlighted wind. That was immediately followed by a small argument between Jared and Noah.
"Dude, I totally blew him up!" Noah half yelled.
"Um, no! I blasted the creep with fire. That's how he got dusted."
"No, I vanquished him!"
"I did!"
"You wanna go?!" Noah challenged.
"Bring it on Blue-Boy!" Jared shot back.
This little bout of bickering caused everyone else to laugh. Jules laughed with contempt but in her heart, she knew she was far from okay...
She looked up at the moon and closed her eyes...
~Flashback~
A younger Jules, aged 10, stood under the night sky on a grassy hill. A tan skinned man with a black goatee wearing a cloak stood in front of her.
He somehow looked beautiful in the moonlight.
"Julianna, tonight you will start your training as Slayer."
Not knowing what to say, Julianna could only nod.
"This is where your world changes..."
~End Flashback~
~The Next Day, Bayview High~
Liam, Noah and Jules sat in a row together in last period Chemistry. Their teacher, Ms. May, droned on and on about atomic numbers and using dimensional analysis.
Jules looked over at her friends and giggled to herself. The sight was exactly what she expected. Liam was busy scribbling in his notebook while Noah was full on asleep.
She guessed that Noah's little friendly competition with Jared took a number on him.
Turning her attention back to the white board, her head pulsed and she grabbed her right temple in pain. Ms. May turned on the projector to show a video.
Trying to work through the pain, Jules forced herself to stare at the projected screen. Of course, this didn't work. Instead of seeing a scientist explain the periodic table, a picture of Slade appeared on the screen and he was staring right at her.
She turned her head away and grabbed her other temple. The girl felt as if electricity was running through her head in a cycle.
That was when Jared set up a telepathic link and told his friends, "There's trouble."
~Bayview Park~
The Bayview Park was a scenic area and was covered in green. There's a giant water fountain where people often throw in coins for wishes. There were park benches, trees, wild life... and a Phantom.
This Phantom was rather tall and looked like mummy. Sticking out of some of its bandages were purple tendrils. It raised its arms and fired off numerous shots of bandages. These projectiles stuck to trees, people, animals, practically anything.
A blast of wind and electricity knocked the Phantom off its feet.
"Show's over, Mummy freak." Jared called out.
"We're putting you under wraps." Noah added.
"Clever." The Phantom scoffed. It sent energy blasts their way, but the seven scattered.
"Noah!" Asher shouted creating a ball of light between his palms.
"Right!" Noah answered creating a circular shield of water. Asher threw the ball at Noah's shield and the light was absorbed into the water.
Liam then added rotating rock discs into the mix. Sonia electrified it and Alicia raised her hands, making wind spin the shield faster and faster.
She chanted, "Pudnayawa!" and sent the combination shield at the Phantom and knocked it into the air. The Mummy landed on its feet and entered a high speed battle with Jared, the two moving rather quickly. Jules stepped in with her X-Sword and slashed away, but kept missing.
Cornering the Phantom against the fountain, Jules was going to make the finishing blow when a zap of pain rushed through her head. She winced, and the Phantom knocked her away, causing her to demorph.
"Jules!" Liam shouted, running to his friend. Before he could get to her, Jules let out a cry. It wasn't exactly a pure battle cry, because Liam could sense that it also had tinges of pain and sadness.
Jules's eyes turned pitch black and gas that was just as dark spouted from her mouth and arms. The gas condensed into shadows and pierced the Phantom, causing it the explode into dust.
Knowing what she had done, Jules ran the other way, leaving her confused friends in the dust.
~Jared's Backyard~
"Ok, what's going on with her?" Alicia asked.
Asher said, "I think we've all noticed by now."
Noah rubbed his head. "You mean her coughing? Yeah she always gets sick, right?"
Jared disagreed. "I think there's more to it than that. I don't know about you guys, but for the past few weeks, Jules has been refraining from using her active powers whether it be that shadow-gas thing or her control over darkness."
"Maybe it's a training thing." Liam offered.
"Pretty extreme." Noah said. "It's only the fate of the world we're talking about."
Sonia suggested, "Maybe we should talk to her mother."
Everyone gave Sonia confused looks.
"I guess I should explain. I was leaving school from a late night rehearsal when I saw Jules and her mother arguing in the parking lot. Her mother said something about Jules knowing the risk of fighting. They ended the argument as soon as they saw me."
Alicia nodded. "So we go see Mrs. Sanchez."
"Let's find her..." Jared said. With that, the six set off to meet Jules's mother.
Jules sat alone on a hillside that overlooked the beach.
"I knew the risk... I knew the risk..." She kept whispering to herself.
Suddenly, six Shadowlites appeared from the ground around her.
"I don't wanna deal with this." She muttered. She readied herself and let them come to her. She took the first Shadowlite and tossed it over the cliff. She kicked two in the head and another in the gut. She flipped the last two on their backs and backflipped away.
The six got up and started to glow.
"What now?" She asked.
The figures started to dissolve together and formed a ten foot tall Shadowlite.
"I'm gonna have to morph."
The Mega-Shadowlite threw a solid punch at Jules, but she rolled forward and morphed. She stuck her Pike into the chest, but it had no effect. The Shadowlite then picked her up and squeezed her with its strong hands.
To add on to that pain, Jules's headache came back. The overwhelming strain caused her to demorph.
Being in contact with the massive Shadowlite evoked something deep within her. Her eyes turned pitch black and her vision fell away into a premonition. She saw everything within seconds. When her eyes returned to normal, she felt like she wanted to cry.
"This is how my destiny is? I'm supposed... I'll be... No... NO!" She let the black gas emerge from her pores and mouth and completely destroyed the Shadowlite.
She fell to the ground and huffed in the air as she struggled to her knees.
"I knew the risk... but the consequence is too major..."
~Jules's House~
As Mrs. Sanchez opened the door to meet the eyes of Jules's friends, she nodded.
"I knew you'd be coming." She informed the teens, letting them in.
"Wait, you knew?" Asher asked.
"Yes... I've known since we moved here, Jules and I. Please sit down. We have much to discuss."
Jared nodded. "Can you explain what's going on with her?"
~With Jules~
"I wish things weren't like this..." Jules whispered as she fell unconscious, only to be found a bit later by a couple who called 911.
~Slade's Temple~
"What was the point of that attack?" Red asked Slade.
"I wanted her to see the truth. I am fully aware of her secret. The problem is, I am still in the dark about how events will play out."
~Jules's House~
Mrs. Sanchez explained, "Jules is sick."
"We know that much..." Noah informed.
"You may know, but you do not know what she's sick with."
"We don't understand." Sonia said.
"Jules...is going through Spiritual Rejection."
Everyone's eyes widened.
"Spiritual Rejection?" Liam asked. "What is that?"
Mrs. Sanchez sighed and let her long hair, which was similar to her daughter's, fall over her left eye. "Spiritual Rejection is pretty simple. It's when the body attempts to force out foreign spiritual activity."
"But what could cause it?" Alicia asked.
"It's the same source that makes you Power Rangers: Your Spirits."
"What?!" Liam asked standing up quickly. "How can that be?"
"The spirits you six have inside you do not face Spiritual Rejection because your Spirit wavelengths match that of the Ancient Warriors. Jules however... doesn't match hers."
"But she was able to morph!" Sonia pointed out.
"Jules got as far as she did through her willpower and through her potential power as a slayer."
The truth shook the six to the core.
"Jules..." Noah trailed. "...was never meant to be a Ranger."
Nodding, Mrs. Sanchez went further. "Our family has been charged with guarding the Spirit of Darkness for generations. But when she was very young, Jules let loose a large sum of her shadow gas, the tendrils she can control, and hospitalized a quarter of Madrid including most of our family. So, we took the spirit and fled. Shortly after arriving in America, we were visited by an astral projected relative who told us that Jules would have to fight."
The six rangers clung to every word.
"Our relative only told us that Jules would need the spirit. But we knew it would have negative side effects after a short while. She hesitated for weeks and soon after moving here, she told me she was visited by a Wizard from a different dimension. He gave Jules her belt and let her bond with the spirit. She claimed he gave her a prophecy."
"And what is the prophecy?" Asher asked.
"When the darkness floods the skies and the moon blood red, a great evil will confront you. You must not shy away from it. As the messenger of darkness, you will lose your way and rise up as a complete warrior. You will ascend and complete your true quest."
"Messenger of Darkness? True quest?" Noah echoed.
"There has to be more to this!" Jared said.
"And there is..." Mrs. Sanchez said. "All this time, I have felt this guilty burden... A truth I have been keeping from you ever since we arrived a year ago..."
"What is it?" Asher pressed.
"The worse Jules's illness gets, the stronger a certain Phantom grows."
"Who?!" Alicia asked. "Why?!"
"Again... our family was charged with protecting the Spirit of Darkness. Protecting it was a decision made by our family as retribution for our... checkered history. I believe that Jules's malfunctioning energy is a herald..."
"For what?" Jared asked.
~Slade's Temple~
"You see, my minions..." Slade explained. "Ms. Sanchez's illness is not only tied to her body rejecting the spirit, but her family's mistakes connected to the Twilight. Just say, her deteriorating state is a herald." Slade clapped his hands together, and the unconscious bodies of Kenny and seven other teenagers started to rise. Each stirred within their semi comatose state. Black and silver armor started to surround slade. Over his own black, silver and orange armor came heavy plated black. A giant gladiator helmet came over his head and a silver visor covered his mask.
"For what?" Yellow asked.
~Mrs. Sanchez and Slade at the same time~
"The end of the world."
A/N: The secret is out! Next time, it will end!
