Arrowcave Bunker, Night

"Hey. Are you ok?" Laurel asked noting how upset Oliver seemed.

"John and I had a difference of opinion." He revealed clarifying the conversation they saw earlier.

"About Andy?" She guessed.

"I confronted Andy, and Dig walked in." He revealed.

"Mmm." She noted in a disapproval tone.

"Yeah. Probably should have taken your advice, district attorney Lance." He mentioned with a smile.

"I'm still just an A.D.A. I'm turning down the promotion." She revealed to him, having made up her mind about the offer.

"Because it's being offered by Ruvé Darhk?" He guessed.

" No, because ... because of all of a lot of reasons, Ollie." She huffed as she put her purse on the table.

"I got some time if you want to list them out." He suggested.

"Well, for one, being the DA means giving up my spot on this team; something I'm not ready to do anytime soon." She told him with a bright smile. "Second, I'm not sure if I "really" want the position."

"Why wouldn't you? I mean being the district attorney has been your goal the last three years since you joined their office." He pointed out puzzled by her statement.

"True, that was my end goal since day one. And I'm not saying I haven't done a good there, as far as I know, all the right criminals are still behind bars-" She came to a slightly longer pause.

"But."

"Do you remember when I first joined the DA's office? All the politics and bureaucracy." She reminded him.

"Like when you prosecuted my mother?" He brought up.

"Again, I'm very sorry about that." She winced.

"It's okay, you were just doing your job." He reassured her.

"Yeah, well. That was the first sign I should've left. And all the crap I was put through by Donner and Spencer, didn't actually help. And, even though things did better once they left ... every now and then I think about the positions they had and I'm not sure I want that; I think it gets in the way of actually helping people." She went on to explain.

"Things'll be different with you in charge." He reminded her.

"Maybe. You know it's moments like this that I really miss my days at CNRI." She said with a smile at the memory. "I mean, it wasn't always easy but there I knew I was actually helping people. And that everyone else was there to do the same. No politics, no public appearances, just-just providing legal aid and support for those who needed it.

"Guess it's a shame, that CNRI isn't around anymore." He noted.

"Yeah, I guess it is." She replied but slowly her the wheels in her mind began turning as she began to form an idea.

Felicity Smoak's Loft, Morning

Hearing knocking, Felicity went to go answer the door and saw Laurel as she opened it. "Laurel hey good morning," Felicity asked in high energy.

"Morning, hey do you have a second," Laurel said flashing a smile.

"For you always," Felicity replied as Laurel walked in, then closed the door. "So I heard Darhk busted out last night, sorry."

"Oh, don't worry we'll get him. We always do." Laurel assured her. "But that's actually not why I'm here. Felicity, um, I don't how to say this other than just to say it. I have a business proposition for you."

"Really?" She said intrigued.

"Last night, I was talking to Oliver. And, well, one thing led to another and I got this idea ... I want to reopen CNRI." Laurel said.

"Your old legal aid office? Why?" Felicity asked.

"Cause I realize that while being the next District Attorney is tempting, leading my own legal aid firm sounds so much better to me," Laurel said excitedly. "I mean, it's a long road. I'll need money, lots of money, and investors but ... but I want this. And I think it'll be really good for this city." She finished still carrying her enthusiasm but Felicity just looked down, considering Laurel's proposition. "Oh, I'm sorry I shouldn't have brought this up so suddenly."

"Oh no, no, Laurel. Actually, I think this is a really good idea, I want to do it. There's just one little catch." Felicity brought up.

"Which is?"

"Well, how would you feel about me being like a partner of something?" Felicity suggested.

"Partner?"

"Yeah, I mean if I'm giving you money and I'm gonna give you a lot of money; I think being a partner is a small compensation, especially since I was voted off by the board," Felicity revealed nonchalantly.

"What? What happened?" A stunned Laurel asked.

"Well, long story short. The board disapproved of my ideas of mass-producing the chip in my spine for something a little less profitable ... that and dividing my time between the board and the Team ... and Oliver-" Felicity babbled on.

"I'm sorry. Would you like some help suing them?" Laurel offered.

"Aww, that's sweet of you. But I'm actually already plotting my secret hostile takeover." Felicity joked. "Anyway, they were decent enough to give a sizeable farewell package but sooner or later I'd like to invest it into something worthwhile so I can have a source of income."

"Felicity are you sure? 'Cause I was only asking when you had more money than God, but if your finances are limited-"

"Laurel, just take the check please," Felicity suggested as she cut her off, as the newly formed partnership began.

Several Months Later

Office of CNRI, Day

In the following months, Laurel was surrounded by her employees and her company's newest clients. The building that she had purchased was between the Glades and Penny Town, briefly, she considered getting CNRI's previous building but decided against it for a number of reasons. It was a two-floor building, surrounded by office desks and cubicles on the first floor. While the second floor, with an open staircase and an elevator that led to it. This floor had offices for Laurel herself, the accountant of her CNRI's finances, and two of her senior employees who would be in charge whenever she was out as Black Canary.

Sitting in her office, Laurel was going through some paperwork on her most recent case when she suddenly heard knocking and looked up to see Felicity. "Wow, I was expecting a move lavish office." Felicity brought up.

"I'm on a budget." Laurel reminded her.

"Well, do you have some free time for lunch with your silent partner?" Felicity requested.

"Always," Laurel said happily as she grabbed her bag and left with her.

"Also, I have some ideas for the company if you don't mind." Felicity brought up suddenly.

"I'm starting to think you don't understand what the word "silent partner" means." Laurel sassed.

Author's Notes: Another good idea for Laurel if they didn't stupidly kill her off, would be restarting CNRI and leading her own law firm. I actually like the idea of Laurel leading CNRI instead of being the District Attorney considering she was a lot more content there, especially considering all the crap the DA's office put her through especially in Season 2.
