Disclaimer: I don't own Pirates of the Caribbean. Disney does.
Jack's jaw almost dropped. It really was her. Lady Felicity Jones. She was just as beautiful as he remembered. Her auburn hair was tied back but it shone in the sunlight while her sky blue eyes were twinkling with mischief. But one thing that had changed was her sense of style. Instead of being dressed like a lady she was looking just like a pirate. He almost didn't recognize the woman. She looked stunning.
He was flabbergasted about how she managed to get on his ship without his knowledge. Why wasn't she in Port Royal? He would have thought that she would have settled down with some gentleman by now and maybe even had kids of her own. "Lady Felicity! How are ye? How'd you get onto the Pearl?"
"Hello Captain. I am perfectly fine, as you can see. I saw you drinking in Tortuga last night and followed you back to the ship. You were so drunk that you didn't even notice me. I decided to stow away because I wanted to join the crew but I wasn't sure if you would accept a woman." She lied. The reason was so that she could simply sail with him. Not necessarily to join the actual crew. She didn't exactly know what that would entail. Or what would be expected of her if she did. She just hoped that she wouldn't be used by the men for their own entertainment.
Lady Felicity Jones was very happy to see the pirate again. She immediately noticed that he didn't look any different from the last time she saw him. "Why aren't you in Port Royal?" Jack asked her. "Wouldn't you have been happier there?" Felicity grimaced. After the disastrous marriage proposal she had refused she knew she would never be happy there.
"It's a long story. One I'd rather not talk about right now. Or at least not in front of everyone." She admitted.
That intrigued the captain. He wondered what she meant by that. So he invited her into the captain's cabin.
Felicity looked around the room. She found it impressive. "Sit my lady." Jack said, offering her a chair. At first she was tempted to refuse but decided not to. She figured that if she wanted to stay it was in her best interest to just do what he wanted.
"Thank you."
"Now will you tell me this long story?"
Jack listened patiently while she spoke. He didn't interrupt. He wanted to wait until the end of the story before saying anything.
"Well shortly after you left Port Royal a young man started to court me assiduously. He seemed nice enough at first. But as time went on he began to show a more violent side of himself. I admit that it frightened me and to be honest it still does sometimes."
"Eventually he proposed to me. Knowing about his violent side I refused him. He snapped. It was clear he wasn't expecting to be turned down. But with his behavior I just couldn't accept him. Then without thinking I murmured out loud, "I would much rather be with Captain Jack Sparrow."
"His eyes narrowed because he knew your name and who you were. Then unexpectedly I felt a sharp pain across one of my cheeks. He had slapped me. It was the first and only time he had gotten physical with me." Felicity let out a sigh before continuing. "Then he shouted at me for preferring a pirate over a 'proper English gentleman'. After that he stormed out of the manor. Soon after he left my father came to find me and demanded that I accept the other man's proposal. I said no, went up to my room to pack some of my things and then later that night I left. Checked the horizon for any sign of your ship and when there wasn't any I made my way to Tortuga. Which wasn't easy. I've been there for months trying to make a living and did ok. Then yesterday you finally showed up. And then like I said on the deck I followed you back to the ship."
She sighed after saying all of that. Jack was stunned. He didn't expect any of that. When he stayed silent she spoke again. "Please don't send me back. Please."
Finally he spoke. "You've been very brave. I wouldn't mind if you wish to stay. But you will be helping. No special treatment. Though I will make it clear to the men that you are not to be touched."
Felicity nodded gratefully. Glad to be able to stay.
"Go take a walk on the deck. You look like you need the fresh air lass."
"Aye." She smiled.
While she did that Jack thought over her story. Then he noticed something that she said that he didn't really take notice of before.
She said that she wanted to be with him specifically. Not the crew in general.
