Chapter 6: Visit From Fiancé

"Woooohooooo!" May yelled in excitement. She's currently on Rapidash in the backyard of Drew's mansion. There's plenty of room for Rapidash to run and May is having a lot of fun, riding around the backyard.

Drew is sitting on a swinging bench on the back porch, watching May and Rapidash. ("She mentioned to me when she woke up that they're leaving tomorrow.") He thought. ("But...I don't want them to leave. It does get lonely here and...May's good company. But if she wants to go then who am I to stop her?")

Ding Dong!

"Who could that be?" Drew muttered to himself. He just heard the doorbell ring and he walked inside and to the front door.

Drew opened the door and saw three people that he was not happy to see. "Mom, Dad. What are you guys doing here?"

"We're here to visit you of course." Drew's Dad said.

"I'm sure that's not the real reason." Drew said.

"Fine. You got us." Drew's Mom said. "We're just here to let you know that the offer still stands."

"Not interested."

"But Drewy Bear," the eighteen-year old girl said. "What about the wedding?"

"Forget it, Harper. I'm not doing it." Drew said.

"Umm...Drew?" May questioned, walking up to him. Drew looked at May and was mentally freaking out.

"Uhh...could you...stay inside for a bit?" Drew asked quietly.

"But why?"

"Yeah. Why, Drew?" Mom asked.

"I think you should introduce us to her." Dad said.

Drew looked at his parents. "Umm…"

"Don't worry, Drew. I'll do it." May said. "My name's May."

("This is bad, bad, bad.") Drew said to himself in his head. ("My parents chose the worst possible time to visit. I never wanted them to meet May. Now what will they do?")

Harper stepped forward, standing in front of May. "And...what are you to Drew?" She asked suspiciously.

"Umm...what do you mean?" May asked.

"Harper…" Drew said, getting mad at her.

"Are you his girlfriend?" Harper asked, ignoring Drew.

"What? G-girlfriend?" May blushed. "N-no. We're just friends."

"Hmm…" Harper looked at Drew. "And that's true?"

"Yes it is. Now, I'd like you guys to leave." Drew said.

"But Drew, we just got here." Mom said. "And you haven't even told May who we are yet."

Drew sighed. "May, that's my Mom and Dad." He said, signaling his hand to them. He looked at Harper. "And she's-"

"I'm Harper." Harper cut Drew off. "I'm Drew's fiancé."

May's eyes widened. "F-fiancé?"

"That's right."

Drew rolled his eyes. He glared at his parents. "I haven't agreed to that."

"But Drew, you must marry Harper to carry on the family name." Mom said.

"But I said no." Drew said firmly.

"Drew." Dad said.

"I'm sorry, but I don't want to be forced to marry someone."

("He's being forced?") May thought.

"You don't have a choice, Drew." Dad said. "And since when have you and May been friends?"

"Honestly since a week ago." Drew answered. "But I'm saying this again. I won't marry Harper."

"But Drewy…" Harper said.

"Can you at least welcome us into your home?" Mom asked.

Drew sighed. "Fine. Whatever." He took May's wrist and walked her inside the house, letting Drew's parents and Harper inside. Drew released May to close the door.

"Umm...Drew, I'll go to my room, so you can talk to your family." May said.

"Okay." Drew said. May turned around and walked to her room.

"Her room?" Dad questioned. "What's that about, Drew?"

"Don't worry about it. Let's just go to the living room and you can make yourselves at home."

"Drew has a fiancé? Well, I think he does…" May said. "It sounded like he wanted nothing to do with marrying Harper. He's being forced." Rapidash neighed in agreement. "Just like me…"

Knock knock knock.

"Come in!" May called.

The door opened and Drew entered the room. "Hi, May…" Drew said. He sat down next to her on the bed.

"Hi...your...parents seem nice." May said.

"Do they? Not to me." Drew said, looking down at the floor.

"Do you want to talk about it?" May asked.

"Not...really…"

"Oh. It's okay. You don't have to."

Drew sighed. "It's just...they drive me crazy whenever they visit. And they always bring up the wedding."

"So...Harper really is your fiancé?"

"No!" Drew answered quickly, turning his head to look at May. "I mean...I never agreed to marrying anyone. My parents are always trying to convince me to say yes to it, but I don't think it's fair. They say that I need to marry someone to carry on the family name. And also someone who is just as rich and fancy as me and all this." He said, gesturing his arms out to show May that he's talking about the mansion.

May just nodded in understanding. "Harper has a mansion too?"

"Yeah. I met Harper when I first started walking. And we grew up together. And then came the age of fifteen, my parents said that they wanted me to marry Harper. And I've been saying no to them ever since, but they still try to force me."

"That sounds tough."

"It is. And...that's the real reason I wanted to leave my parents' mansion." Drew said. "I lied to you when I said that I left because they would treat me like a little kid. The real reason I left is because I didn't want to marry Harper."

("That's like my story…") May thought.

Drew exhaled. He then gave a small smile to May. "It actually feels good to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening. I know we've only known each other for a week, but I really feel like I can tell you anything." He blushed slightly.

May blushed and smiled. "You're welcome, Drew. I'm glad you feel that way."

From around the corner, Harper has been spying on them. She's been against the wall next to the doorframe, listening in on their conversation. She furrowed her eyebrows at May, but of course May isn't looking at her.

("I won't let that May girl take Drew away from me.") Harper thought. ("I need to try and get her away from him.") She watched as Drew pet the Rapidash that's in the room. ("She has that Rapidash though…")

Harper thought of the perfect idea. She entered the room. "Oh! There you are, Drew."

May, Drew, and Rapidash all looked at Harper. Rapidash glared at Harper. "What is it, Harper?" Drew asked.

"It's almost lunchtime. You're going to cook for us, right?"

"Of course." Drew said. He looked at May. "I don't suppose you'd want to eat with my family…"

"I'm fine. Thanks." May said.

"I'll bring you your lunch when I'm done cooking it." Drew said. He stood up. "Let's go."

"Wait. Shouldn't Rapidash go with you for food too?" Harper asked.

Drew and May both looked at Rapidash. "Did you want to go with Drew, boy?" May asked. Rapidash neighed in agreement. "Then go for it. I'll be fine here."

Drew and Rapidash left the room, leaving Harper alone with May. Harper and May looked at each other.

"So...you're Drew's friend…" Harper said.

"Yes, that's right." May answered.

"You two seem close, considering you only met him a week ago."

"I guess we do. He's a good friend, letting me stay here and all."

Harper walked closer to May. She leaned down, her fists on either side of May's legs, and her eyes glaring into May's. "And...why did he let you stay exactly?"

"Umm...because my leg was injured." May answered. "Drew saved me and my horse from bandits and then he brought me here to help with a wound on my leg."

Harper backed up slightly and stared down at May's leg. She looked back at May's eyes. "That was nice of him."

"Yes, it was."

"Now, I'm going to make this very clear to you." Harper said. "Stay away from my fiancé."

"But Drew told me that he didn't agreed to-"

"I know!" Harper cut May off. "Just keep your distance from him, or else."

May furrowed her eyebrows. "Or else what?"

Harper smirked. She backed up and kicked May's leg on her wound. May winced, feeling a lot of pain.

"Oww…" May said, holding her leg with both hands. She looked at the wound and she saw blood start coming out of it again.

"Now, that's a warning. I can do way worse to you if you want me to." Harper said.

May looked up at Harper. "Someone like you doesn't deserve Drew."

"Oh really?"

"Rapidash." May muttered. "Help."

XXXXXXX

"Help."

Rapidash looked up after hearing May's voice. He then immediately walked out of the kitchen without Drew noticing.

Harper held up her fists about to punch May when Rapidash came barging in. "Rapidash!" May called. Rapidash neighed, standing on his hind legs about to crush Harper.

Harper fell to the floor in fear of the giant horse. She crawled backwards a bit. Rapidash put his hooves down and called out to May.

May stood up, ignoring the pain in her leg and the blood. She climbed up on Rapidash, grabbing the reins.

"Rapidash, let's go." May said. Rapidash dashed out of the room and down the hall.

Drew and his parents heard the loud sound of the horse running in the house. Drew quickly stopped what he was doing in the kitchen and he left the kitchen and ran to the entryway on time to see May and Rapidash run outside. He quickly ran out too.

"May!" Drew called from the front porch.

Rapidash was running to the gates of the mansion and May looked behind her at Drew. She ignored Drew and focused her attention on the gates.

"She won't make it over that." Drew muttered. "May, stop!" He called.

May ignored Drew. "Ready...and...jump!"

Rapidash leaped into the air, probably around 16 feet high. Cleared. They cleared the large jump over the 15 foot tall gates. Drew's mouth opened in shock.

"Good boy." May said. "Now, out of town." Rapidash neighed loudly, running out of the city.

"May...you just...left?" He muttered. "Will you be back? You said that tomorrow is when you were going to leave. Where'd you go?"

"Drew."

Drew turned around and faced Harper.

"Why did May just run away?" She asked. "I thought you two were friends."

"We are friends." Drew said. He looked at the gates. For some reason, his eyes got watery, but he kept himself from shedding a tear. Harper should not see that side of him.

"Well, she's gone." Harper said. "It's just you and me now."

Drew faced Harper. He glared at her. "Did you make her leave?"

"What? No. Of course not. I appreciate all the friends of my future husband."

"I'm not your future husband!" Drew yelled. Harper flinched a little from Drew's yell. Drew then walked past Harper and entered the mansion.

Harper smirked after a moment. "No more May...I can't have someone around that Drew might think is prettier than me, now can I?"
