Episode 6 – Part 3
It had been a few more days and things had finally pulled together for the survivors, life was continuing as normal, they were pretty much self-sufficient now and handling things well. Although they remained watchful, never forgetting the dangers outside the walls, they still allowed themselves to take solace in the new calm in their lives and to enjoy their peace. At the present moment Livia was on the front porch of her own home, hand on her stomach, it surely wouldn't be much longer now until she was due. She wasn't alone either, Mara, Katia Zlata, Britta Ana and Cveta had joined her, all of them enjoying a ladies moment together.
"So, what do you think the baby will be?" Mara asked casually.
Livia smiled softly. "I'm hoping for a boy, that he'll be just like Petr."
The others smiled at that.
"I think you'll be a great mother." Zlata added. "It's scary bringing a new life into this world of course, but here, here there's a real chance."
Katia smiled shyly at that. "I know, Marko and I have been talking, um, we've...we've been thinking about, about having a child of our own."
The others reacted in delight to this news, certainly hopes were high for them all and they couldn't ask for a better situation for their hopes for new lives.
At that moment however they heard something, shouts from the wall, it sounded like there were people approaching.
"Wonder what this is about, let's go and see." Ana offered.
The others agreed and with Ana and Cveta helping Livia up they began to approach the wall, noting the other founders and their families doing the same.
"What's going on?" Niko called up.
The lookout called back. "Two people, say they want to talk to the leaders of this community."
Niko looked around at those gathered around him and smiled. "Guess they mean us. Alright, we'll talk to them."
The lookout nodded and opened the gate and together the group headed outside. They finally got a good look at the two people. The first was a man of around fifty with long greying hair and brown eyes, as well as olive skin, clean shaved. With him was a woman of forty-five with long curly black greying hair, brown eyes, tall and slender with a kind smile and fair skin.
"Hello there." The man said. "I'm Jacob, this is my wife, Natasha, I take it you are the leaders here?"
Niko nodded and introduced himself. "I'm Niko, this is my wife Arica, our daughter Lydia and our son Jonas."
He began to introduce the others too and then, once introductions were done, He asked the obvious question.
"So, how can we help you?"
Jacob and Natasha shared a smile, as if agreeing on something.
Finally Jacob turned his attention back to the group.
"We're part of a larger group, there are ten of us in all. We came alone because we wanted to be sure of things first." He explained. "We have a hideout just past the hill there."
He pointed in the direction.
Arica reacted to that. "Wait, you mean you guys have been there...all this time and we never knew?"
"We've been hiding." Natasha said. "We...we were on the run from that cult. We saw your place here, but we were too scared to approach in case something happened…"
"But then we saw you, go and wipe the cult out." Jacob remarked. "That helped us; we are free from our fear."
"Well, I'm glad to hear that." Niko said with a smile. "Do you wish to join us, we have room…?"
Jacob nodded. "That would be wonderful, before we do however...I was hoping to celebrate with you, my people and well...we were planning on a feast, but don't have enough to feed everyone, maybe just the people here?"
Niko bit his lip at that, unsure. But at that moment, startling everyone, Jonas suddenly turned and ran.
"Jonas!" Niko called out frantically.
Arica craned her neck and revealed. "He's...he's going back to the house."
"I can, go see if he's alright." Livia offered.
Niko looked around at the others and made up his mind. "Alright, please do, if he, if he doesn't want to come out, please, stay with him."
Livia nodded in agreement and made her way back into the safe zone. Meanwhile the others happily accepted the offer of the feast and as the gate closed behind them, they followed Jacob and Natasha to their hideout.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
