Episode 7 – Part 4
Within the cult's main hideout, the captives still struggled in fear, not knowing about the conditions of the others, just their own groups. All they had been able to glean from the gloating of their chief captors was that the other groups were present in the building and also captive. Within the room they were held captive in, the kids tried to free themselves, Ivano thrashed in his bonds, shouting into his gag, but to no avail. Meanwhile Misha and Sergei, who were in adjacent cots, tried to move closer, trying to get some sort of angle that would allow them to free themselves. A tearful Kalina squirmed against her own bonds while Iskra tugged at hers and kept looking over at Lydia in shock. Lydia's eyes were closed, she seemed surprisingly calm, despite all that happened. Her movements were small, almost hard to see.
'Just like you taught me, mom.' She thought. 'Careful, precise, analyse...find weaknesses.'
So it was she continued to do so until she felt it.
"YGG!" She cried out in delight.
That caught everyone's attention, even Ivano stopped struggling as all eyes turned to Lydia. There, before their very eyes, having finally found what she had been looking for, Lydia got herself free from the bonds around her wrists. Sitting up she removed the gag and got to work freeing her legs.
"Just hold on guys, we'll find everybody else and get out of here." She told them.
The other kids felt calmer now, the fact Lydia had accomplished what she did ensured they would be able to do something about their imprisonment now. Soon she had herself and then everybody else free and together, grabbing whatever improvised weapons they could, they opened the door and slipped outside.
Within their own prison, the women continued to struggle, desperately trying to get loose. Due to not actually being tied down, they were move active in trying to help each other, one benefit of this was they'd been able to remove their gags, so could actually converse and plan.
"It's no use." Zlata hissed. "The ropes are too tight, we'll, we'll need to find some other way."
"You got another way?" Britta shot back, grunting as she tugged at her bonds.
"Sadly no."
Ana shook her head. "Guys, please, we need to stay calm, or we're gonna…"
Katia sighed. "We know what'll happen if we don't escape, but Ana's right. We need to stay calm and focused. Any luck Mara?"
Mara was back to back with Katia, trying to remove Katia's bonds. "Almost, there I think-"
She stopped, eyes wide as suddenly, with careful movements, Arica wriggled out of her bonds and stood up.
"Sorry it took a while, they were pretty tight." She explained. "C'mon, let's get outta here."
As she said this Mara finished untying Katia's wrists, allowing Katia to free Mara and herself while Arica freed Cveta, Britta and Ana. Soon they all free and shared a worried look.
"What do we do now?" Cveta asked.
Mara bit her lip. "The kids, the kids are all in danger, you heard her."
Katia nodded. "The guys too, we, we have to find them, save them."
Arica looked around and, picking up a steel pipe, nodded.
"I quite agree, arm yourself with whatever you can find and let's deal with these punks." She said.
The others heartily agreed and soon they were ready, all armed and slipping out through the open door, ready to seek their comrades to save and the cultists for revenge.
In the final room, the male captives struggled desperately to get free, with Bruno killed and set to turn, put in position to immediately attack Ansel, they had very little time. They had no idea how long it would take Bruno to turn after all. Ansel naturally was the most desperate, struggling in a vain effort to move away from Bruno's corpse. But then they heard it, the low groans that told them Bruno was turning, was about to awaken as a walker and attacked.
"MMMMMMMMMMMM!" Ansel cried out, terror filling him.
Grozdan responded to his boyfriend's fear, in an unexpected but effective way. Even as all eyes turned fearfully to Bruno, to Ansel, trying desperately to find some way to save Ansel, Grozdan fumbled a little at first but soon got the straps undone. With his prosthetic hand falling off, the ropes couldn't hold his wrists anymore. Then, acting in desperation, seeing it on the floor by his foot, Grozdan grabbed the sharp stone that looked like it had been chipped out of the hard floor through simple wear and tear. He then lunged over Niko, just as the undead Bruno roared and attempted to bite Ansel. Everyone froze, staring in shock as Grozdan fumbled to get his gag off, Bruno's now lifeless Walker corpse pushed away from Ansel, the sharp stone pierced right through the side of his head, into the brain, killing him for good. Finally getting his gag off, Grozdan gasped.
"I...God, hold on guys, I'll get you out."
He managed to finally free himself, then Ansel and Niko and then together they freed the others while Grozdan fitted his hand back into place. Almost as soon as he had done, Ansel embraced him.
"Dude, that was...thank you." He whispered.
Grozdan smiled and returned the embrace, gently kissing him.
"There will be time for that later." Niko said, although not unkindly. "I'm sorry Bruno, but don't worry, you'll be avenged."
He nodded to the others and, like the other two groups, seized whatever weapons they could and, avoiding the walkers along the walls, opened the door and made their escape.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
