Episode 8 – Part 2

Enlivened with their allies arrival, for soon the Pogoren militia entered through the breech and opened short bursts of gunfire, a few cultists died, others panicked and tried to run. The survivors took their chance and began to fight back. Outraged Jacob and Natasha began shouting, trying to rally their supporters. It was turning into a bloodbath. Having to be careful not to hit any of their own people, the Pogoren militia had to be careful with their gunfire. But their superior firepower was allowing them to push into the building, taking down more cultists.

"No, we cannot let this be the end!" Jacob yelled. "We are the true chosen ones, kill them, kill them all!"

The survivors fought back, trying to make direct contact with their allies, if they could just get some actual weapons they would likely face a better chance themselves. Taking down another cultist, Niko cringed as he noted at least two of their people were already dead, arrows had struck true sadly. But they still fought on, they needed to stay strong, it was their last chance.

"Everyone, rally together, fight on, we can win this!" He urged his people on.

They refused to give up, the cult was fervent, furious, but ultimately overwhelmed. But they had to make sure this stopped here, if any of the cultists escaped, the whole cycle would begin again. They needed to be finished off here, once and for all.

Finally regrouping with their people, Niko nodded as he accepted the gun and knife.

"Alright, let's finish this." He said.

Natasha glowered. "Finish this, you are all fools, you think you can just walk out of here and-"

"We're not walking out." Niko snapped. "This ends now, we're fighting until there are none of you left to threaten us."

There were shouts from the cult, a few panicked, but most sounded outraged, Natasha turned pale, startled, clearly not expecting that answer while Jacob remained unmoved.

"You can do nothing to us." He taunted. "You're weak, you don't have it in you to kill us all."

Niko quirked an eyebrow. "Oh really...open fire!"

With that he and his people began to shoot, killing more cultists, greatly reducing their numbers. Once more shocked and clearly not used to being proven wrong, Jacob let out a roar of rage, before fleeing to the upper level.

"Finish them off!" Niko yelled. "He's mine."

With that he ran as Natasha aimed her bow, trying to kill him, but Arica was too quick and swiftly took her down, a single shot to the head. With one leader fleeing and the other dead, the remaining cultists began to lose morale and it didn't take long until finally, they were all dead.

"What now?" Mara wondered.

Arica bit her lip, but then sighed. "We wait outside for Niko, he can handle this."

So, after a moment's hesitation, they all stepped out, keeping an eye out for Walkers, waiting for Niko to join them, Jacob was all that was left and they trusted him to finish things off for good.

Continuing to pursue Jacob, Niko rounded the corner, just in time to see Jacob enter a room just down the corridor. Hurrying after him Niko readied his gun and bust into the room. He cried out as it was knocked from his hand by Jacob lashing out. Niko gasped upon seeing the room and swiftly grabbed at Jacob, trying to use his knife instead. But Jacob managed too hold back the knife and soon knocked it from Niko's hand.

'Dammit, can't use the gun here.' He realized.

It was true, the gun was not a good idea, the room was filled with gas cylinders after all. He struggled against Jacob, trying to find some means to keep him down long enough to retrieve his knife and finish this, without igniting the cylinders and blowing the whole room up.

"You fool, you will die here." Jacob spat.

Niko grimaced. "Not today, the only one dying here, is you."

With that he shoved Jacob down and dove for the knife, grabbing it he scrambled to his feet and his eyes widened.

"No, don't-!"

Jacob had the gun. Simply acting, Niko dove at Jacob, grabbing the gun, the gun went off and then came the explosion.

Outside, while waiting anxiously, everyone yelled in shock, many dropped the ground, as the explosion rocked the building, blowing out a window on the upper floor, through which two bodies came flying through and landed on the ground.

"Niko!" Arica cried.

She ran up and hauled the badly burned corpse of Jacob off her husband, she checked him over, he was still breathing, but there was no response.
