Chapter #1
It is morning. Daddy Pig is reading the newspaper. Peppa Pig walks up to him and asks, "Daddy, can I play with the lawn mower?"
Daddy looks at his daughter with the utmost disgust and replies, "No, go play with the wood chipper." He goes back to reading his newspaper.
Peppa looks at him, and then goes outside to find the wood chipper. Freddy Fox walks up. "What are you doing?" Freddy asks. "And whatever it is, can I play too?"
"Sure," Peppa says, "I'm playing with the wood chipper." This attracts the attention of Susie Sheep, who is walking past. She trots up to Peppa and Freddy and plays with the wood chipper alongside them.
George sees all the commotion happening outside and decides he wants to play with the big kids.
But when he appears where they are so dangerously playing, Peppa, Susie, and Freddy yell in unison, "This is for big kids. You are just a baby." George cried because he could not play with the wood chipper.
"And," Peppa adds, "I am a grown-up. I have more right to play with this than you do."
"But Peppa, we're only five! Grown-ups are waaaaay older than we are!" Susie exclaims.
"And besides," Freddy added, "I'm not an adult and I am four months older than you."
"Whatever. We should leave. I will get in big trouble if I make George cry for the 197th time."
The three walk over to Rebecca Rabbit's house. She welcomes them with open arms, and then says "Get out. I'm walking to the playgroup. You can follow me if you so desire."
When they get to the playgroup, Candy Cat, Danny Dog, Ellie Elephant, Pedro Pony, and Zoe Zebra are already there and are loudly and horribly playing musical instruments. Madame Gazelle is in a corner, thumping her head against the wall. As soon as Peppa arrives, she asked Madame Gazelle if they could sing the Bing Bong Song. "Why not. It may get rid of the awful noise. Boys and girls!" she replies, with a rise in volume at the end, so that the children could hear over the "music", "Peppa has asked to sing the Bing Bong Song. Do all you children want to sing it?"
The response is deafening. The children sing the Bing Bong Song over and over again. Madame Gazelle is trying with all her might to control the children, and failing miserably.
It was so loud, it attracts the attention of Mummy Pig, who is driving home from work. She says to herself, "There's playgroup today? I should go ask Daddy Pig if and when I should pick up Peppa." She continues to drive home.
When she arrives, she goes straight to Daddy, not noticing George prostrate on the lawn. "You didn't tell me there was playgroup today! You dropped off George and Peppa?"
"No, I just told Peppa to go play with the wood chipper!"
"She's not there! We have to go get her!" Mummy runs to the playgroup house, not bothering with the car.
Daddy jogs all the way to the bottom of the hill, then stops, because he is too fat. "I'll catch up to you soon! Just give me… three hours?" Mummy is already more than halfway to the playgroup, not even hearing him.
Madame Gazelle gives up and stops playing her guitar to the Bing Bong Song. The children are so loud, so wrapped up in singing, and so childish that they don't even notice. As she strides over to the window where she keeps her Aspirin, she notices Mummy Pig running towards the playgroup like her hair was on fire. She thinks Mummy Pig had gone crazy, so she does what anybody would have done in the situation. "Boys and girls! Hide in the instrument closet!"
