Happy new year to you all! You guys know how much I love this story and I will continue to update for as long as I have inspiration. I never had a plan for where this was gonna go when I started writing this but I have a lot of ideas I want to play around with, who knew I'd still be writing this many years on! Please keep reviewing and messaging me your ideas and feedback it's always welcome. Here's a little teaser of what's to come xoxo

The sound of tires spitting gravel across Ace's drive, had barely left her ears by the time she began to gather her things. The taste of over sweetened coffee had turned sour across her tongue as she threw on a mismatch of clothes, tripping over her sneakers as she desperately tried to catch up with the fleeing car.

It was a long way to Back Harlow Road, but Irby's was only a ten minute walk away and Alex was ready to run. Although it took her mere minutes, the sound of her rushing blood swelling around her ears made time pass a lot slower. The door was locked when she got there but the beating of her fists against the glass door alerted Irby from the back room. His haggard scowl soon changed when he saw the look of white fear across her eyes. Alex explained as fast as her lips and heaving lungs would allow her.

"I'll do anything please get me to Back Harlow and I swear I'll clean floors, wash glasses anything!" she begged until the corners of her eyes pricked with tears. 'Cobras don't have feelings' Ace's words rang in her ears causing her heart to ache even more.

"Look Alex" Irby rubbed the back of his neck squinting his eyes "I would love to help but I gotta run the bar." Alex's heart rose to her throat "but I mean, I have the truck out back if you reckon you could get it back to me in one piec-" Alex cut him off by throwing her arms around his neck.

"I'll never forget this" she breathed. It took a few attempts to get the keys into the ignition as she struggled to control the panic coursing through her. As the engine roared to life, she took a deep breath and tried to remember every lesson she had learnt watching Ace's reckless manoeuvres around town, then she stamped on the accelerator.
