Was thinking the 2nd chapter could've been split into two chapters it was so long. Making the Goku bit it's own chapter but really wanted the cut from Barbari in the chapter. This chapter was going to be longer but decided to pace myself a little more cut it off for next chapter.
Let the the tea brew for 3 minutes after heating it, don't think about Gowasu banishing you off the planet. While it sits prepare the rest of the crockery while praying he doesn't have Rumsshi destroy you for your insolence. Stir the tea, controlled, calm, serene, panicked, trepidation.
I was dreading my conversation with Gowasu following the prior days events. I had spent most of the night yesterday planning my conversation with Gowasu and how to apologize. I'm aware Gowasu isn't so spiteful as to have Rumsshi destroy me but I've heard tale of failed Kai losing their positions and becoming little more then ogre attendants.
With the tea, condiments and such prepared, a little more sloppily then usual due to my panic, I make my way to Gowasu. Today we would be having our tea at Gowasu's favorite spot on the planet. A small table set by a large tree created to resemble the great Kaiju tree of the Core World. While only a replication of the true birth tree, the aura around it was strong, able to soothe the hearts of those near it. Hopefully that would help me now as I see the tree and table in the distance.
Approaching the tree I could feel the energy from it calming my fears. Unfortunately upon seeing Gowasu, eyes closed and hands clasped, my heart turned as if the calm feeling was a false sense of security. Steeling myself I pushed the cart foward and called out to Gowasu and bowed. "Master I have prepared the tea for today."
"Thank you Zamasu, you may carry on." If he was upset with me he was hiding it very well. Pouring the tea into the glass I could feel my nerves under my skin, if not for my years training as Supreme Kai I may have been a nervous mess. I don't think I've been this nervous serving tea since my early days as Gowasu's apprentice.
As Gowasu took a drink of the tea, he simply took a second look at it before setting it down. My body tensed as he simply motioned me to sit down without a word. Doing so it felt like an eternity before he finally spoke.
"Zamasu did you repair the wall as I asked?" He asked plainly not letting anything show and I did my best to so the same.
"Yes master I repaired the damage I caused to the temple to the best of my abilities." It had taken me 3 hours to repair the damage to the flooring and wall with my limited abilities in creation and even then a indent had remained where my attack had made contact.
Finally thats when Gowasu asked "Zamasu why did you attempt to kill the Barbarian?"
Because he was a disgusting cretin who needed to be punished for his sins. That was probably not the answer Gowasu wanted hear but all my mediation hadn't another to give. With my silence Gowasu choose to go on.
"I can understand you acting to defend me Zamasu but the power you used would've ended his life. All we had to do was simply leave, even then you should very well know that the Barbarian posed no threat to us."
It was then I found my voice "Master yesterday we watched 3000 years of the Barbarians future. We watched them take from one other, kill for their own selfish desires, misuse the knowledge we gifted to them. It's true we witnessed some growth before we left the planet but does that undo the sins of their race? Does justice simply turn a blind eye?"
"Is that what that was Zamasu? Where you bringing justice upon that Barbarian?"
I stood up and placed my hand on table."Yes master. I take it as my duty as a god to bring divine justice on those who commit such crimes!"
Gowasu closed his eyes, took another drink of his tea and stood up and met my eyes. "Zamasu I choose you as my apprentice because of your clear sense of justice. As Kai it is of upmost importance that we carry it with us to watch over mortals and see to it they follow it aswell. However in alignment with our justice we must carry compassion." Gowasu began walking away beckoning me to follow, putting my hands behind my back I did so. "Zamasu it is important for you to understand this, without compassion for mortals your blade of justice will lead to nothing more then self righteous slaughter."
Self righteous slaughter. Gowasu's words wondered around in my mind.
"Zamasu for as long as you've made my tea theres always been one thing the same. No matter the flavor, whether delicious or tree bark, it was always defined and unclouded. Today however it was as if two seperate teas where mixed together, your soul seemed clouded it's direction lost."
My irritation turned to mild alarm at these words, my soul clouded? What did it mean? Were my actions yesterday a result of my soul being impure? Amidst my panic Gowasu asked a simple question.
"Zamasu, when we saw the Barbarians yesterday, when the elder arrived and qwelled the fighting amongst his brothers what did you feel?"
What did I feel? I could barely remember it, that event was possibly the last thing I remembered from yesterday. But the feeling from that moment was still clear. I was filled with anger I wanted to strike down those Barbarians, then Gowasu pointed out the Elder Barabarian and then? I was filled with another feeling, something that tried oppose my anger and left me stunned at the moment. I had felt distinct feeling welling in my chest.
Was I proud of those Barbarians?
The very thought stopped me in my tracks. Proud of those Barbarians? Proud of those dirty, sinful mortals? I suppose after seeing 3000 years of them killing eachother the very glimpse of progress would be a sight to behold. But even still I had felt pride in my chest at the sight of what those Barbarians had accomplished. My face must of answered for me as Gowasu smiled softly.
"Is that our ultimate goal master? How do we accomplish it if we simply observe?"
"As I've told you we don't simply observe, we watch over them, learn from the mistakes we made as creators and carry it over to the next world. As experienced as I am I knew well enough those Barabarisns would succeed and in record time no less."
Gowasu walked over to me amd looked me in the eye. "Zamasu your actions yesterday could've very well ended your time on this planet with me." My heart nearly stopped but Gowasu continued. "But as your teacher and friend I'm choosing to pardon you."
"Thank you very much master Gowasu, I won't let it happen again!" I quickily bowed my head and nearly shouted as I spoke, but quickly picked it back.
"However because of your actions it's become clear that further training is needed. Zamasu I need you to learn to trust the mortals and temper your justice with compassion am I understood?"
Trust mortals and temper my justice. Never had a more simple task been put on me that I would be more at odds with. But I wouldn't allow myself to falter not after Gowasu's kindness and pardon. "I understand master."
Just as the two us were about to continue to the temple a grating voice yelled out and caught our attention.
"We're finally here!" Looking up I saw three figures appear in the air just for one of them to fall with the grace of a sack of rocks. The other two beings descended down and from their attire I immediatly recognized them as a Destroyer and Angel.
As the two landed Gowasu greeted them with a bow and I followed suit. "Well this is unexpected, Lord Beerus and Whis it's been quite a while has it not?"
"Hi." Lord Beerus simply waved his hand and gave a redundant wave. If I hadn't known prior that most Destroyers were this flippant I may have been annoyed by the simple greeting.
"It has been too long since our last visit hasn't it Gowasu?" The angel said with a nod.
"This is my apprentice, Supreme Kai in training Zamasu." Being introduced I took that as the proper moment to speak.
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." This was my first time meeting another Destroyer or Angel aside from Cus and Rumsshi. This pair seemed more refined, ofcourse most gods do when interacting with foreign gods. The conversation likely would've remained quiet and respectful if our 3rd guest hadn't climbed out of his crater. Running up to me and Gowasu he gave a wide grin to us.
"Sorry bout the landing!" I immediately sensed the lack of God Ki in this one as he rubbed the back of his head. A mortal? What is he doing with a Destroyer? "Hey Whis give me a heads up before we arrive next time!"
"Now Goku I had announced our imminent arrival but you were simply preoccupied talking about fighting Zamasu." Fighting me? Was this mortal intent on challenging me? "Now introduce yourself properly."
"Oh right." Then like a trained dog this Goku stiffened his back and bowed in front of me like broken board. "Sir greetings your Supreme Kai'ness sir it is an honor sir and pleasure to make your aquatince sir this fine day! I give thanks to you sir for facing the weather to be here today! Sir Kai'ness." Then he picked up his head and bowed again for no reason, I swear I saw Lord Beerus and his angel stifling laughter.
"Well atleast he made an effort." Gowasu acknowledging the catastrophe of an attempt of a proper greeting.
"Yes well good day to you as well Goku." I replied trying to hide my distaste for the mortal, I wasn't expecting to be interacting with one right away.
"In Universe 7 this one hails from Planet 877 in the heart of 4032 green." Whis said explaining where this mortal was from.
Lord Beerus added "Yes Earth a delectable little planet with quite the delicious pallet."
So I know where he's from but why is here standing amongst the gods? Before I could say anything the mortal started observing me and walking around me.
"Well you see pretty strong for Kai, you must do a lot of training huh?" He struck a fighting stance "Say how about you and I go a quick round?"
"You want, to fight me?" I was confounded by this mortal's lax nature speaking to a god. That poor attempt earlier hardly earned such a request.
"Yeah! I heard that your the strongest of all the Kai so I just gotta try you on for size!"
"Show some respect mortal, you don't just come to the planet of the Kai and make such requests!" The mortal simply straightened his back and grinned.
"Ah, yeah I guess it's a bit rude huh?" The mortal rubbed the back of his laughing to himself.
"We're on business you two can have your little fight later." Lord Beerus walked up from behind and launched Goku into the sky. I was quite grateful for that.
"Of course tell me Lord Beerus what brings you to our planet today?" Beerus simply nodded at Whis and he spoke for him.
"Well you see we've had a little incident in Universe 7. A strange individual appeared sporting a Time Ring, and even more perplexing this fellow was not a Supreme Kai."
"Someone stole a Time Ring?" Though I only just learned of their existence even I could see the dangers of one being stolen.
"That would not be possible only a Supreme Kai can travel with the Time Rings." Gowasu looked alarmed at the news as Lord Beerus answered back.
"Supreme Kai or not he appeared quite good at using the ring" Beerus pointed upwards "and even stranger he was a dead ringer for that one up there." Gowasu and I look up suddenly intrigued by the mortal, only to see an orange dot in the sky. "Give him a few minutes, but you wouldn't happen to know anything on the matter?"
"Well that is all quite bizzare isn't it, unfortunately i'm not aware of anyone who could be responsible or any missing Time Rings." As Gowasu responded I thought I saw Lord Beerus glaring at me for a moment.
"All the same could we have a look at your time rings just to make sure they're in their proper place."
"Ofcourse, come Zamasu." Gowasu called to me, the 4 of us began make our way to the temple, just as that Goku landed infront our the temple entrance, well I say land he crashed again and no doubt left another crater for me to repair later.
