Chapter 2 – There is something

POV Raditz

I looked like a stupid person, walking into the archive room with a coffee. Izzy looked up from behind her computer; she was already a little less shy. "Good morning Raditz" she smiled at me. "Good morning Izzy, as promised" and I set the coffee down on the counter. She stood up, otherwise she couldn't reach it. She was wearing standard armor like everyone else, but without shoulder protection. And she had a ruffled skirt under it and high boots to the knee. She picked up the coffee "Thanks" she sat down and picked up something behind her. "Would you look at this" she was holding a binder. "In here are all the scheduled and recorded flights for the month before destruction."

I stood there staring for half an hour, but saw no order for a flight of a baby named Kakarot. I sighed. "Nothing that looks familiar to you?" Izzy looked at me with concern. "This is pointless" I could have thrown the file away, I was angry. "It was a wild guess, but then we've ruled that out. His flight was not planned. But this doesn't mean we won't find out anything". Again she had a confident smile on her face. I was immediately calmer. Her gaze had something soft and reassuring about it. "I'll continue this later. But right now I have to take over some data for Frieza. "She picked up a pile of binders beside her and flipped it open. I caught myself staring at her. She looked up "Is there anything else I can do for you? I shook no and with that I walked away "See you at lunch".

POV Izzy

I was busy retyping data. It was boring work and I had music on through my headphones. Then something came to mind, we also have a file somewhere with the unplanned flights and they were kept manually back in the day. Where was that one again? I turned my desk chair around and walked into the large archive room. Everything was always very tightly sorted. I looked for the V of Vegeta. But something wasn't right. I was missing a complete box of documents. The box from the last year before the destruction. Something is being covered up, but what?

I was walking toward the canteen when I saw Raditz and his team walking up a little further. Should I tell him things were missing? Maybe not wise to anger a Saiyan, he might have brought her coffee but he is still of a brutal race. I was so lost in thought that I bumped into someone. "So-sorry" I immediately put my head down and wanted to walk away. "Hey girl, saying sorry doesn't help" a soldier called out to me. I wanted to walk away, ignore it but he grabbed me by the arm. "Honey, you hurt me. Or yes not hurt but you could have. You have to make up for it". The man looked at me with a grimy smile. "She doesn't have to do anything" I recognized that voice!

Behind me stood a large figure of six feet tall. He had his arms crossed and he was looking sternly at the soldier. "Oh does she belong with you Raditz?" the soldier sounded almost afraid. "Beat it" was all Raditz had to say to the soldier. I sighed deeply and turned around. "Thank you, this is the second day in a row you've saved me." He smiled "How have you managed all this time without me?" We both started laughing. "Just stay close to me" he joked. "Doesn't that take away your tough guy image, being seen with a boring archive girl?" We walked into the canteen together.

POV Raditz

We walked past the food together with our trays. I could see that she wasn't putting down much food. Extraordinary that you can live on so little. But then again, she didn't have those intesive trainings and missions. "I'm going to sit in the quiet corner; I don't think your friends would like me to sit with you." Nappa and Vegeta did not look happy "I'll keep an eye on you" I winked at her. When she walked away I looked at her again. She was slim and her pleated skirt danced when she walked. I shook my head and sat down with the men. "Girlfriend?" joked Nappa. "At least I don't scare away a girl just by looking at her" I snapped back. "Men" Vegeta rolled his eyes.

At that moment, a soldier arrived with some kind of letter. An order. A total destruction order. All three of us were in a good mood right away. We're leaving this afternoon. We gulped down our food and jumped up. Clearly Saiyan`s were made for this. I looked up at Izzy, who was quietly poking away at her food with a fork. She looked at me and gave me a thumb up with a big smile. Then I looked at the soldier who had been harassing her. With my hand I made the gesture that I was watching him. He had trouble getting his food down his throat.

POV Izzy

I had forgotten for a moment that he was a brutal Saiyan. Somehow I forget that about him every time. I think it's because of his search for his little brother. I want to help him so much. I myself have little family left. Most of them are still on my home planet. I was not made for hard work in the fields or in the mine. This was a better choice. But I miss them terribly. I cleared my tray and walked back to the archive. When I got to the front desk, there was still hot cup of coffee there. There was only one person who brought me coffee. Did I feel a butterfly in my stomach? No way!

Through my headphones I heard music. I sat comfortably typing away data. Softly I sang along. I was cheerful; when someone came in I greeted them happily. I didn't know what caused it. I was simply happy. I came across a document about Raditz last mission, a smile came to my face. I started to type. It was dry stuff, Departure time, vehicle type, mission type etcetera. I typed over the names who had left, who had returned. Who had died during the mission. There were fifteen in total. I stared after the number. That was fifteen soldiers. I had better not dwell on it too long.

POV Raditz

My eyes had fallen shut, I always fall asleep during a trip is a space pod. It was boring. But this time I couldn't fall asleep as fast as usual. I had walked over to Izzy once more with coffee. But she wasn't there. I wasn't worried or anything, she'd been managing for five years. She danced unobtrusively between the soldiers. But did the other men see what I saw? She had beautiful long legs, eyes like rubies and she looked so innocent. Normally I liked a busty tough woman, but why can't I get this one out of my head. She was obviously smart but sometimes she seemed other-worldly. And she believed in me and my quest. She wants so badly for me to actually find Kakarot.
