I first would like to thank you all for taking your time to read this! I like how it is turning over in my head, but I should warn you all that this story is not pre-planned, it's just random thoughts put together. Hopefully it will turn out good.. Anyway, on with the disclaimer of me not owning the Harry Potter universe, I don't.

By the way, the rest of the story, unless pointed out ahead of time, will from now on be in the P.O.V. of Basilah.

I smiled softly as we headed home from school supply shopping. It had been rather fun, not counting the incident where Draco made a fool of himself getting his robe fitted… the prat. Sometimes I've wished it were him who was mute. It would have saved us a lot of trouble from the big mouthed brother of mine.

Back at home Father and Mother were trying to tell me gently, for the thousandth time, to not let anyone get to me, telling me I was with magic and deserved a chance to learn it just as much as them. The night before we were to depart, Father had pulled me aside just after dinner.

"Basil, I want to thank you. Thank you for being in my life. You saved me. You and your brother both have. I promise, I'll be the best father you could ask for, and love." I smiled, and with tears in my eyes tackled my father into a big hug, thinking all along, I love you already father, so so very much!

Draco charged the bare wall ahead of us, and slipped through without notice. I glanced nervously around before following his lead. I saw him talking to his friends Crabbe and Goyle, or who I had fun calling his security squad. Having no real friends myself, I went ahead of him onto the train, after my goodbyes to our parents. I found an empty compartment, and sat down on the bench, first day nerves making it impossible to stand any longer. After a few minutes, right before I could see if it was possible to fall asleep on the train already, the door opened, showing a very recognisable redhead and a boy with black hair and glasses. I smiled and waved as they turned to look at me. Now I may be a Malfoy, but I've judged people on who they are, not their name or blood status. So I made no decisions on either boys character, even though I could tell one was a Weasley child.

"Got any room for us?" Glasses had spoken up, prompting me to nod an affirmative. Both boys plopped down on the bench across from me before starting their introductions. I was right about the Weasley, this one named Ron, and found out Glasses was really the oh so famous Harry Potter himself.

"So, what's your name?" Ron had asked. Pulling out my chalkboard, and chalk magiced to never run out, I wrote out, Basilah, and I'm mute. Both boys visibly jerked back at the news, and sent me horror stricken faces. I just sighed and shook my head before going back to my chalkboard, It doesn't bother me much anymore, I've never been able to talk. And most likely never will…

Before either boy said any more, my dear, dear brother opened the door to the compartment, chest puffed out.

"So it's true, Harry Potter is here…" I saw his eyes had drifted towards Weasley, then towards me with shock. I shook my head and he shook his like he didn't care to find out. "You better be careful with what company you keep Potter…"

"I think I can make my own decisions on my friends, Malfoy." Potter responded with a smirk, glaring at my brother. He preceded to huff and lead his goons with him out of the hallway. Weasley looked towards me,

"Make sure to stay away from them Bas, that was Draco Malfoy, and his lot would eat you alive concerning your muteness. Rotten family, the whole lot of them. Death eaters who deserve Azkaban..." My face slowly shifted darker and darker with negative comment, and the dumb redhead didn't notice. Potter did, and he had looked concerned. I scratched out on my board, My name is Basilah, Basilah Malfoy, and that was my twin brother you just dissed, to my face… His face morphed to horror and he stood up, pulling his wand out on my at the same time. Instinct had me whipping out my beautiful alder wood wand with dragon heartstring. Magic sizzled in the air as we stood facing each other, before Potter stepped in the middle.

"Now… just, just calm down people…" He said nervously, I glared at Weasley over Potter's shoulder, before suddenly storming off with my trunk that father had shrunk for me. I heard as I sped down the hall,

"Good riddance… Malfoys are bad, all of them"

I had somehow stormed all the way to where my twin was, and preceded to throw myself on him and start crying. Of course silently, but my shaking shoulders and his closed becoming wetter gave it away. He said nothing, just moved his hands to my back to hug me.

"Umm… Care to share who she is Draco?" A voice said, making its way to my brain in a haze. I barely heard him share our relation to each other. But I did hear him warm the other occupants of our car that I was indeed mute, and to be left alone or they would feel retribution. I lost all care as I felt my brothers hands rub my back in circles to calm me. I had even ended up falling asleep on him.

Something softly shook me awake, and my eyes had opened to Draco's face near mine, telling me it was time to change for our arrival at school. I nodded and sat up, looking around. There were two other girls in the car, and another boy besides Draco's meat shields.

"Daphne Greengrass" Introduced the blonde girl.

"Pansy Parkinson" Continued the raven haired girl. The other boy who was unknown smiled, puffed out his chest, and started to open his mouth, when Draco jumped ahead.

"That's Blaise Zabini, a playboy" Said playboy deflated and denied. Us girls had kicked out the boys so we could change in our robes. I smiled at the feeling of a new life heading my way.

After following the half giant man on the boat and to the school doors, we were greeted by the woman who signed our letters, Professor Mcgonagall. She struck an imposing figure for sure, but I was too hyped to care much. She lead us through the dining hall, and I heard a girl pipe up about how the ceilings were enchanted, and how she read in in Hogwarts, A History. I shook my head as we came to a stop in front of the room.

An old dusty hat was placed on a stool, and I knew that it was the sorting hat, since our parents had told us ahead of time. It sang a song about the houses and such, I hadn't paid much attention, I was too nervous and happy at once, I didn't even hear any words, by anyone, until,

"Malfoy, Basilah!" I jumped to attention, and moved to the stool. Once the hat was placed on my head, I felt it's magic move around inside my very mind.

"So, a mute Malfoy, where should I put you I wonder…" I could only think Slytherin over and over. The hat chuckled but agreed, stating that I would do the house wonders, before loudly proclaiming, "SLYTHERIN!" My twin followed my lead an another slytherin, and the sorting continued till its completion. Once over, and after some very, unique, words from the headmaster, our food appeared. I started tucking in, and mentally preparing myself for some hell to come, knowing that I was at a distinct disadvantage. I could only hope all would go well for me.
