Emily is immediately hit with a strong wave of terror. She does not want to be questioned. She does not want to be trapped in his office. She does not want to be alone with him. She wants to be normal, to be okay. She uses all her strength to compose herself and enter his office, sitting in a chair in front of his desk. She winces in pain as she sits, a sight that does not escape Hotch. He closes the door which causes Emily to tense greatly. He notices her shift in demeanor, she seems afraid. Afraid of him? His heart ached at the thought, but the door needed to be closed with the conversation they were about to have. "Prentis…. Emily." he starts gently as her eyes rise to meet his. "How are you feeling?" Emily is taken aback by this question, it is kind and open and not what she expected. "I am okay, Hotch. Just sore but I guess that's to be expected." Hotch internally sighs at the half truth she shares with him but lets it be. "I saw you when Reid put his hand on your shoulder. Even before he made contact you were deep in a memory, one that seemed very painful. Your reaction to his touch was concerning. I know you do not want to feel vulnerable. I want you to know that we know you are strong Emily. This does not take that away. We all struggle after we have been violated." She winced at the wording he chose and tried not to panic that he knew what she withheld. "I know Hotch. I am working through it, I will be fine. Until then I need to be here, to keep working and be around my friends. You guys make me feel safe." Her cheeks burn at the admission but after he had seen her distraught state earlier there was no use in lying. "Emily, I want to tell you something that I have never shared with anyone. Something about Foyet, is that alright?" he asks her hesitantly. There is a pain in his voice she had rarely heard before. "Of course, Aaron. You can tell me anything?" she tries to state matter of factly though an inflection in her voice is questioning where this is going. "When Foyet was attacking me, I remember what happened. I lied when I said that I was unconscious." Emily's eyes widened at his admission, although it does not truly shock her that he would not want to share intimate details of his most vulnerable moments. They where alike in that way, she thought. "When he was stabbing me, he was sticking in the knife and pulling it out slowly and methodically. He told me that he knew profilers cited stabbing as a sign of impotence." Emily could feel his voice become less strong and controlled as he got obviously more tense. She feared what his revelation would reveal. "He said he was going to change my mind on how we profiled…. He undid my belt and pulled down my pants." He stated in a detached manner. His eyes were on the wall behind Prentiss, but his mind was elsewhere. He was back on that floor and she knew it. She placed a hand atop of his as a silent encouragement to keep going. "He fondled me, and when he was done stabbing me he, he sodomized me with one of Jacks baseball bats."

This revelation hit Emily like a truck. Her heart was pounding in her chest, a mixture of the new information about what Hotch had survived and memories of her own assault swirling around her head. "Hotch, I didn't know. I am so sorry. Why didn't you tell us? Why didn't you tell me?" Her voice was soft and kind but the trembling of it matched the shaking of her hands. Hotch could see her body tense and shaking just as his was. He sighed, "Why didn't you?" He asked her.

This took Emily aback and she sharply inhaled. "What, what do you mean Hotch? You suffered something terrible. I cant imagine wha-" "Emily, stop it." His voice commanded in his usual hard tone before softening. "I see your tensed body, your shaking. You jumped out of your skin when Reid touched you. When I closed the door you felt trapped and afraid. You wince in pain every time you sit. I am not judging you Emily. I was where you are. If you don't reach out this is going to kill you." He states matter of factly, voice breaking as if he were warning her of his own fate. "Nothing happened Hotch. I was just roughed up." "Then pull down your collar Emily. Let me see your neck. I have never seen you in a turtleneck and yesterday you wore a hoodie out of the hospital pulled over your head. Let me see, please" he pleaded gently.
