This is not good, this is not good, Cara's mind repeated as she fired upon trooper after trooper from her post on the hill. Din had been inside the base for almost fifteen minutes, and so far Cara had disposed of at least twenty troopers. She had seen many of the troopers run into the base, which could only mean that they were alerted to Din's presence. The ones that remained outside still had not located her, but it was only a matter of time before they did and she'd have to retreat.
Cara willed herself to focus as she downed yet another trooper, this one falling from the platform and landing on the rocks with a loud crack of his white armor. Come on, Din, hurry up, she thought as she pinged a shore trooper right on his helmet.
Suddenly, all of the troopers turned their attention away from finding her and towards the entrance of the base. She noticed many of them falling to blaster fire as a man in full silver Beskar plowed through their forces with a detonator in his hand. Cara looked through her scope as Din pressed the detonator, only for a blaster bolt to hit his shoulder immediately afterward. At first Cara was unconcerned; Din's armor had always protected him from any and all blaster fire. But she grew worried as she watched him stumble more than he usually did from the blow, allowing a nearby death trooper to tackle him.
And the first charges at the back of the base were already exploding.
"No, no, get out of there!" Cara shouted in fear, despite the fact that no one could hear her from this distance. She was tempted to take the shot at the death trooper who was currently wrestling with Din, but she would risk hitting her friend.
Before she could decide whether to pull the trigger, Din shot the black-armored trooper through the heart and got to his feet as the base high up on the mountain continued to explode faster than Din could run. Cara's heart jumped to her throat as Din sprinted to the edge, ready to leap off the platform and fly to safety.
That is, until a fuel canister too close to Din for comfort exploded, the force of it throwing Din off of the platform before he could jump.
Cara could only watch in horror as Din fell, praying his jet pack would activate in time to get him to the ground safely. She could see him fumbling with his vambrace in a desperate attempt to ignite his jet pack's thrusters. For a blessed moment, Cara's heart surged with hope as she saw the orange fire emerge from the thrusters, but it was far too late. Just as the jet pack finally activated, Din slammed into the rocks halfway down mountain side, cutting off his jet pack's ability to buffer his swift descent. Cara started running towards the mountain side, desperate to do something to stop the inevitable, but Din was tumbling down the rocks at such a rapid pace that he crashed into the grass before Cara could even shout his name.
