The Breakdown

Chapter 14-Sasha

Sasha knew Tom was struggling with the revelation of Mike and Maddie's relationship. It was a little shocking, but from what Sasha knew; Mike was thrilled, especially where his baby daughter was concerned. She didn't know Maddie well, but she knew some of Tom's issue was not knowing her. Mike was due to be released within a day or so, so Sasha decided to take Maddie out for lunch, as a way to get to know her. Through texting, they agreed on a place for lunch and a time. When Maddie walked in, she was obviously starting to show.

"Thank you so much for this! I was craving Chinese food." Maddie said after she got settled and they'd ordered their food.

" Your welcome. I wanted to get to know you better. You're showing. I didn't think you were before." Sasha remarked.

"Yeah; Mike said I was blossoming. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but we've found out it's a baby girl, heard her heartbeat and she's starting to kick. I guess it was only time that I would start showing." Maddie answered.

"Congratulations! You ready for Mike to be home?" Sasha asked.

"Yeah. I've been going in daily once he was released from the psych hold. He's going to have to rest up because the pneumonia has really taken it out of him, but he's excited, really excited about Felicity." Maddie answered.

"Is that her name? Its beautiful." Sasha asked.

"Yes. Felicity Grace." Maddie said.

"I like it. Will you have a baby shower?" Sasha questioned.

"Probably. Azima wants me to have one. I don't know that many people and would hate to ask people for things for our baby." Maddie admitted.

"Well, we don't know you too well, but we want to know you and we all love Mike. You'll have a baby shower. I'll get with Azima and plan it. I know Mike is planning on building the furniture, so what else is needed?" Sasha asked.

"Mike tells me babies go through a lot of diapers and wipes. I plan to nurse her, but he requested a pump so he could also get in on some feedings, as well as bottles. I suppose we'll need clothes for her. Her room is going to be painted navy blue with white woodwork. I found a pink bedding set, and the furniture will be while. I really like peonies, so that is going to be kind of an accent, I guess. I'm not much of a decorator, and Mike tells me that she will end up being in with us for the first year. We'll need a bassinet." Maddie explained.

"I don't have kids, so I have no idea. Sam and Ashley were half grown when Tom and I got together." Sasha said as their food arrived.

"I am a little terrified. I've never even held a baby. Mike says I will know how to do it all naturally, but I'm not so sure. Babies are so tiny." Maddie admitted.

"Did you want kids? I know Felicity wasn't planned for." Sasha asked.

"I did. She might not be planned for, but she is a godsend. Especially for Mike, but me too." Maddie answered.

"I never knew Mike as a dad, but I do know that a lot of kids really look up to and love him. I suspect he's a bit of a teddy bear with them." Sasha said.

"Its hard to imagine but I suspect you're right." Maddie said with a smile. It made Sasha realize that Maddie was deeply in love with Mike, and she could only hope that Mike felt the same, and wouldn't be afraid to admit it. Maddie deserved that, and so did Mike. To love and be loved back.
