These are my three servants. I guess I should have expected this as I doubt that they would summon King Arthur, Cu Chulainn, and Arash for a simple test. They look like copies of the back of the class card: a male knight with a sword, a woman holding a bow, and a man gripping a lance. In the distance I can see faceless soldiers charging at us, around 100 in total wielding swords and shields. Looking at one of the soldiers made an alert sound from my armband.

They were weak. At least compared to my same three servants who are looking to me for guidance. I should be freaking out right now. But I'm not. All I feel right now is a sense of calm. Going with my instincts I give my orders.
"Saber go and meet the enemy head on, make sure none pass you. Lancer, hit and run tactics. Harass them as best you can. Archer, stay by me and provide ranged support for the two. GO!"
And they were off. Lancer appeared to the side of the charging group in a matter of seconds, stabbing one before escaping out of their range and attacking the opposite appeared soon after striking down the first opponent he came across before moving to strike another. Archer meanwhile stayed back and took potshots at the ones in the back. This continued for a few minutes until all of the enemies were defeated, Saber having taken out the most.
As the last one fell I checked my servants stats, and saw that aside from saber taking around 50 damage they were well. This honestly surprised me. 100 soldiers and next to no damage. That was … terrifying. The from where the soldiers appeared came something else. A large rock monstrosity that unleashed a large bellow. Standing close to 10 feet tall, made off jagged stone with a singular eye it made an intimidating sight. Focusing on it made a screen pop up.

I waste no time recalling my servants to my side as. I need to be careful with that thing. It has over double the amount of Health as all three of my servants combined as well incredible strength and endurance. The only upside was that it was slower than them which made this winnable. Making my plan of attack on the approaching monster I order my servants.
"Saber take it head on, make it focus solely on you. Lancer attacks the legs and make sure to not get hit. Archer, aim for the eye of the joints. Bring that thing down. When I give the command all of you to unleash your Noble Phantasms. Now Go!"
With that command they sprang into action. Archer unleashed arrow after arrow into the golem's eye causing it to release a bellow of rage as it loses a good chunk of its HP. Lancer then appeared on its left and unleashed lightning fast strikes to the legs, chipping both the rock and its HP. Then Saber appeared and gave a huge slash to the golems front making a huge gash and draining even more of its health. Strike after strike, shot after shot, blow after blow they were slowly taking it down. It tried to attack back, to crush Lancer in foot, to swat away Saber but every attack was dodged leaving it defenceless. Then, as I saw its health approach the halfway mark I gave them command.
"NOW!" I Yelled at the top of my lungs. As I activated the Music Code I was wearing, buffing all three at the same time.
It happened in an instant. Sabers sword was glowing as it unleashed a single strike bisecting it. Lancers spear shooting though where I guessed was the core of the beast. And Archer, who shot an arrow that blew its head clean off.
They did it.
I did it.
Congratulations

And like that I remember what was going on. I had become Ritsuka Fujimaru. The boy who had become Humanity's last master. And suddenly the darkness is back.
"Fou?"
I hear something
"Kyuu … Kyuu?"
I feel like I should know what that is.
"Fou! Fou … Fou!"
Something is licking my cheek. It takes me a few seconds to remember what happened. It wasn't a dream, was it. I hear footsteps approaching me from somewhere to my left.
"... Umm. Since it's neither morning nor night, please wake up, Senpai."
Was that Mash? Pretty sure that was Mash. Opening my eyes (when did they close?) I am greeted to the sight of a purple haired girl standing over me, her expression mostly blank.
"Where are we." I asked in a voice that I am now just realizing isn't mine. Even though I already knew the answer I still wanted, I needed confirmation.
"Right. That's a simple question. I really appreciate it. This is the passageway from the front gate to the Central Command Room, which is in front of the Marion Chaldea Gate." She answered me.
Nodding to her I realize I'm still lying on the floor. Getting up I still feel disoriented.
"... Ahem. Anyway, can I ask you a question, Senpa?"
Again I nod, giving her the go ahead.
"You were asleep, but I don't see why you'd sleep in the hall. Can you not sleep unless you're on a hard bed?"
I decided to act as if I don't know what's happening.
"Was I sleeping here?"
"Yes, like a log. It was such a deep sleep, it was almost textbook"
"Fou! Kyuuu! Kyao!"
Oh right. I forgot about the miniature fluff of death.
"... I completely forgot. I still haven't introduced you yet have I, Fou?"
She grabs Mini-Murder and holds it up to me.
"This squirrel-like creature is Fou. He's a Privileged Life-Form allowed to freely walk around Chaldea. Fou le me here, and that's how I ran into you, Senpai.
"Fou. Mmkyu, Fou!"
And with that I breathe a little easier as the beast scampered away. Until I remember the most likely reason why.
"He ran off somewhere again. He does that sometimes, just walk around."
"... What a mysterious creature."
It took a second to respond, trying not to let my fear show.
"Yes, normally he doesn't go near anyone aside from me, but he seems to like you, Senpai. Congratulations. Now you shall be the second caretaker of Fou in Chaldea."
I barely paid her any mind, so focused on the figure approaching from behind her. I made sure to make it seem as I hadn't noticed him as he spoke.
"Ah, there you are, Mash. That won't do, you know, wandering about without permission."
The demonic leprechaun spoke with a smile. Then he turned his attention to me.
"Oh, someone's already with you? You're … I see … The rookie who just got assigned.
I feel a sense of dread as he looks at me. I once again nod my head hoping he will just leave.
"I'm Lev Lainur, one of the technicians employed here. And your name is?"
Also the Demon-God Pillar Flauros but who cares about that. Not wanting to annoy the eldritch tentacle monster I answer.
"My name is Ritsuka Fujimaru"
He just continues to smile.
"Hmm, Ritsuka Fujimaru. So you're the last of the 48 candidates. Welcome to Chaldea. I'm glad you're here."
Probably happy to have another helpless fool to blow up.
"I heard you were selected out of many public applications, how long was your training? A year? 6 months? 3 months?"
He seemed to grow amused as he guessed lower.
"... I'll leave that to your imagination."
The smile never leaves his face.
"I see you already know how competitive it is here. You're going to hide info from your rivals?"
Please just leave. What will it take for you to leave?
"Dr. Lev, Fujimaru's training was less than a few hours. I think it's from embarrassment."
Why you do this Shielder.
"Oh? Well, now … I see. We had an emergency opening for applicants to fill out numbers. So you're one of them? Do forgive me, I was inconsiderate."
You probably knew that from the beginning you smug bastard.
"But please don't be discouraged because you're a public applicant. We need all of you for this mission. 38 elite magus plus 10 talented public applications … Somehow, we were able to gather all possible candidates. That's something worth rejoice over. This year, 2017, all possible candidates capable of Spiritinon Drives were brought to Chaldea."
So you could murder them all at once of course.
"If there's something you don't understand, feel free to ask Mash or myself anytime."
I am staying as far as I can from you you green demon.
"... Hmm? Come to think of it, what were you talking about with him, Mash? That's not like you. Did you know each other before?"
He's fishing for information. Wondering if I had already been part of Chaldea ion secret probably.
"No, I'd never met Senpai before. I saw Senpai sleeping here, so I just …"
She trailed off as if unsure how to continue.
"Sleeping? Mr. Fujimaru was asleep, here?"
Then he laughed as he realized why.
"Ahh, you went through the simulation when you entered right? Spiritron Drives can get to you if you're not used to them. After the Simulation, the gate must've opened and you walked over here before you returned to consciousness. It's a type of sleep-walking. When you fell, Mr. Fujimaru, that was when Mash spoke to you. You seem fine But I'd take you to the infirmary just in case…"
He trailed off as he appeared to realize something.
"Sorry, hang in there a little longer. The Directors orientation is about to start. You should hurry over."
You know that my body is barely functioning right now you asshole. You just want to see me mess up somehow don't you. Still, I need to act ignorant.
"Orientation?" I asked with as much fake confusion as I could.
"Yes, to greet the Master candidates assigned here today like you, Fujimaru." Mash answered me.
"In other words, it's for the big boss to welcome the careless newbies. Since the Director is not the type to forgive and forget, if you show up late, you'll be on her radar for the entire year. The orientation begins in five minutes in the Central Command Room. Go straight down this hall. Hurry!"
"Dr. Lev, do you think I'll be allowed to sit in on the orientation, too?"
Now the bastard is curious.
"Hmm? Well, if you stand way back in a corner, I think she'll look the other way… But why?"
Because she is a good person who care about people.
"I just thought I should take Senpai to the Commands Room. It's possible that Senpai might fall Asleep on the way again."
See.
" … If I leave you alone like this the Director might yell at me… I should tag along as well, eh?"
No you shouldn't. Go far, far away.
"Well, if that's what you want to do, Mash, go ahead. You okay with that Mr. Fujimaru?"
A single nod. Am starting to get over my fear of his presence, if only to make way for my new hatred for his fucking smile.
"If you have no other questions, let's head to the Command Room. Is there anything else you want to know?"
"I have no questions." Just shut up and let's go.
"All right, let's get going. Stand up straight, but remember to relax, okay?
We made our way to the Command Room, passing a few technichens and other employees as we made our way there. The entire walk I can feel his gaze burning a hole through head. As we got to the room I saw all the other master candidates. I spy the future Crypters as well as what looks like the female Ritsuka in the room
"This is the Central Command Room. Your number, Senpai … Singel did get you're in the front row. Take an empty seat In the front row." She told me after checking her tablet.
I nod but as I start to move I feel a huge wave of fatigue hit me causing me to stumble.
"... Senpai? You're looking a bit pale…" she said, actually sounding concerned. That's nice.
"Sorry, I'm spacing out again…" I told her as I sat in my seat.
"It's an after effect of the simulator. I wish I could take you to the infirmary…"
She trailed off as she noticed someone staring at the two of us. Lev, who I managed to forget was there, somehow spoke up.
"No more small talk. See, the orientation has already begun."
It was then I noticed everyone staring at us. Great. Waving mash away the other two walk to the back of the room. It was then that Olga finally decided to speak.
"Well that wasn't on time, but looks like we're all here now."
The Fatigue came back in force. It's getting harder to focus.
"Welcome to Special Organization, Chaldea. I'm the director, Olga Marie Animusphere. You have been selected, or discovered from each nation for your rare-"
And like that I couldn't hold it back anymore. I slip into darkness for what felt like an instant and for eternity.
Aaaaand I'm being slapped. Holy crap that woman is strong. Then I'm thrown from the room. This is perfect.
Once again I find myself lying on my back looking up at a concerned eggplant above me.
"Are you alright, Senpai?"
No I am not Mash. No I am not.
"... was I asleep?" I managed to get out as I got up.
"Yes. It seemed like you were in REM sleep… Anyway, the Director's slap seemed to wake you up completely. Thank goodness. You've been left out of the first mission, Senpai. I was taking you back to your room —Oh!"
The Fluff of Death was back and decided to latch into Mash's face.
"You have a squirrel on your face." I manage to say, the exhaustion I felt drowning out the fear of the murder machine in front of me.
"No, no, this is normal. No problem at all. Fou likes to attack my face, slide around to my back, and settle on my shoulder.
"So you're used to that, huh?" I mumbled but it appeared she heard me
"Yes. It's been a year since Fou came to live here."
"Fou. Kyuu, Fou! Fou!"
"Hmm, hmm. Apparently, Fou's embraced you as one of his own, Senpai. But can a squirrel who sees humans as rivals exist in this world?"
Does she know what he is?
"He sees me as a rival?" I asked slowly hoping that it was a joke.
"Well, knowing Fou as I do, I'm pretty sure he'll forget it by tomorrow. Actually we've reached our destination. This is your room, Senpai."
What. When did we arrive here?
" … I see. Thanks for coming all this way Mash."
"It's fine. If you ask me, Senpai, I wouldn't mind if it's treating you to lunch."
Was she asking me out? No, she probably just wants to talk.
"Kyu… Kyu!"
Yes. I see you raccoon of doom.
"Fou says he'll look after you, Senpai. That sets my mind at ease."
And makes mine panic.
"Now, then, I'm off. If we're lucky, I think we'll meet again." And with that she runs off.
Turning to the door I mentally prepare myself for who I know is on the other side. Opening it I'm treated to the sight of a man in a doctor's coat eating cake on my bed.
"Okay, I'm in here … Wait? Whaaaaat? Who are you? This is an empty room! It's where I slack off! Who gave you permission to come in?"
Ah. The good doctor. The Grand Castor as a human. The man who supports you until the final battle with Gotia. Who sacrifices himself so you could win. Doctor Romani Archman.
My throat suddenly feeling dry I responded.
"I was told this was my room…"
"Your Room? This Place? Oh… I see, so the last one finally showed up, huh?"
He's suddenly smiling and I can't help but sample back.
"Well, nice to meet you, Mr. Fujimaru. Didn't think I would run into you like this, but let me introduce myself again. I'm the head of the medical department, Romani Archman. For some reason people just call me Doctor Roman. I don't know why, but it's easier to pronounce, so go ahead and call me Roman. Fact is,. Roman has a nice ring to it, no? It sounds cool and vaguely sweet."
Honestly this man here makes me feel better just by being in his presence. Smirking lightly I respond.
"Oh, so you're the fluffy type?"
"Fluffy? Oh, you mean my hair? I'm normally pretty busy so I just let it grow"
Not what I meant but sure. Then he looks on my shoulder and notices the killer bunny.
"Huh? On your shoulder - is that the mysterious creature I've heard so much about? Whoa, nice to meet you!"
He seemed so shocked at the mere sight of the beast.
"Mash told me a lot about him, but I didn't really think he existed … Hey, why don't I teach him some tricks?"
I wanted to laugh but that would ruin it. Settling on a nod I vowed to bring this up later when Roman realizes what it is.
"Okay, shackle hand. If you do it well, I'll give you a snack."
Fou was not amused. He just turned and snuggled back into my shoulder.
"Huh, what? He gave me a really pitying look and then completely ignored me… A-Anyway, I think I get what's going on. You're the rookie that just got here then on the Director's bad side?"
How did he know about that anyway. It literally happened only a few minutes ago. Or did he just guess.
"Then you and I are alike. Just so you know, I got yelled at by her too. You know the Rayshifts experiment's about to start, right? The entire staff's been sent to help out. But since my job is to look after everyone's health I had nothing to do. The machines are more accurate at reading vitalos of mages who are in the Coffins. The Director said "When you're here, Romani, everyone slacks off!" Then she threw me out. So I've been sulking here. But that's when you showed up. This is what they called a blessing in disguise right?"
More than you know Roman. It probably saved your life.
"Since we both have nowhere to go, why don't we spend some time and deepen our friendship!"
He honestly seems so genuine. This is the man who was once a heartless king. Even knowing what will happen any moment I smile.
"Sure. This is my room anyway."
He brightened up at that.
"Yeah. So that means I'm visiting a friend's room! Woo boo! I've made a new friend!"
His joy was infectious. I laugh a little. Sitting down next to him we both start eating the cake as he starts to explain Chaldea to me.
We had to have been here just talking and relaxing for over an hour now.
"… so thats the structure of Chaldea. An underground workshop built on a snowy mountain 6,000 meters above sea level…"
He was a treasure trove of information about Chaldea seeing as he's been here from the start. From him I gained the basic layout of Chaldea as well as many of the divisions working here. However the information gathering was cut short by a beep from Roman's comlink
"Romani, we're going to start the Rayshift soon. Could you come in case there's an emergency?"
I freeze at the voice. Right. Flauros. The bombs will go off any minute. Roman seems to notice my stiffening but doesn't say anything.
"The A Team's in perfect condition, but B Team on down is less experienced and they are displaying some slight abnormalities. It probably comes from anxiety. The inside of the Coffin is like a cockpit.
You just want an excuse to bring him to you so he gets blown to smithereens.
"Hey Lev, I feel bad for them. Why don't I give them some anesthesia?
"Yeah, hurry up, will you? If you're in the infirmary,m then you can get here in two minutes."
With that he ends the call. A little over two minutes. That's how long we have. Hiding my panic I ask Roman a question.
"This isn't the infirmary is it?"
"Whoa … please don't mention that… it's gonna take five minutes from here, no matter what… well, I think they'll forgive me for being a little late. A Team has no issues anyway."
He was safe from the bombs and so was I.
"Oh, that guy's named Lev Lainur. He;s the mage who created the Near-Future Observation Lens, Sheba — A telescope used to observe that pseudo-planet, Chaldeas. Sheba not only observes Chaldea, but also serves as a surveillance system for most of this facility."
Oh god. That explained how he got the bombs planted. Be has control over the security system, cause he built it.
"Also, it was the previous director who built the Summoning/Unsummoning System, which is the foundation of the Rayshift tech. To actualize that theory, the Pseudo-Spiritron Calculation Engine, Basically a super computer, was provided by the Atlas Academy. All these different talents have been gathered to carry out this mission. It's pointless for an ordinary doctor like me to be there, but if I'm summoned, I must go. Thanks for chatting with me Ritsuka! When you get settled in, come by the infirmary. Next time we'll get some more cake!"
As he finished the power went out.
"What's this? The Lights are out. Did something …"
BOOOOOM
Whatever he was going to say was cut off by the sounds of multiple explosions. Oh god it's starting.
Emergency. Emergency. A fire has broken out in the Central Power Station and the Central Command Room. The Central Area's containment wall will activate in 90 seconds. All staff must evacuate from Gate 2 at once. Those remaining in The Central Area, evacuate immediately.
"Was that an explosion just now?! What on earth is happening! Monsters, show us the Command Room! Is everybody all right!"
The Monitor in my room flickers on and shows the Commands Room. It's entirely in flames, debris everywhere.
"Command Room, what about Mash?" I say in horror. I didn't think it was this bad. There was no guarantee she survived.
"Ritsuka, evacuate right now. I'm going to the Command Room. The Contaionment wall is about to close. Get yourself out before it's too late!" He says before running out of the room
Fou suddenly lands on my shoulder staring at me.
"I know. Let's go save Mash!"
"Fou!"
I rush out after Roman, easily catching up. He turns and started yelling
"What are you doing! Wrong Way, Gate 2's over there! Don't tell me you are coming with me? Sure the more helping hands the better, but .. Oh man, there's no time to argue! Make sure you get back before it's too late.
We soon arrive at the Command Room and I can only stare. Everything is burning, the only thing that seems intact is Chaldeas.
"... No survivors. Only Chaldeas is safe. This was where the explosion originated. This was no accident, it was sabotage."
I know. And I let this happen. How difficult would it have been to tell Roman what would happen. How difficult to alert Olga. Well not that she would listen but that's not the point. I could have done something but instead I sat back and watched because I didn't want to mess with the plot.
And now people are dead.
Generator operation stopped. Power Level Critical. Switch to backup generator.
ERROR
Please make the switch manually. Containment wall will close in 40 seconds. Those remaining in the Central Area, evacuate immediately.
" I'm heading down to the underground power station. We can't let Chaldea's light go out. Hurry up and go back the way we came. You can still make it. Listen, don't stop anywhere on the way! Go outside and wait for help!" And he was off.
I can't go back for multiple reasons, the main being there is no outside anymore. It's gone. And… I need to make sure. To see whether she is still alive. I make my way deeper in looker for her

"Come on where you!"
Then I spot her. She was trapped under a huge piece of the ceiling, bleeding heavily but still alive.
"... oh"
"Hang on. I'll get you out!" I try to grab the rubble but. It is tangly burned my hands, making men pull back.
