Chapter One

Sword Art Online, a VRMMO game released earlier today. It was created by Akihiko Kayaba. Only ten thousand copies were created.

I was one of the lucky ten thousand, or so I thought. But my world crashed down around me when I realised I was stuck inside this stupid game. If I died in the game, I would die in real life.

I stood there, a shadow over my face. I would have to get stronger. Those one hundred floors wouldn't clear themselves. But first, I needed to get to a different town. It was clear to me that staying here would be inefficient, there were too many players here.

I started to jog towards the gate of the Town of the time I reached the gate, I was full out sprinting.

A new skill was created.

I ignored the pop up and only took a few minutes before I ran afoul of a wild boar. I started to charge up a sword skill. But had to jump backwards, away from the swinging tusks of the boar.

A new skill has been created.

I grabbed one of the tusks of the boar, my HP slowly dropping, and used a sword skill on it. My blade glowed green before I swung down and stabbed the boar. The boars HP dropped to zero.

+25 EXP

+3 Col

"I'm not doing that again," I muttered as I looked at my health bar. Ten percent was gone. I would have to be faster. 'Lets see these new skills'

Four levels for defeating this minor boss. Pretty good. I would have gotten less if I had attacked with a party. Of course considering how much damage I took, I'm gonna upgrade my skills before I attempt something like that again.

The only reason I beat that boss was because of the advantage I had. The boss was a minor troll. It had high attack but low agility and each time it missed it was stunned for ten seconds. I used dash in that fight like crazy.

The drops were pretty good, one iron short sword as the last hit bonus. Did I mention that? Any boss you faced, a last hit bonus would be given out. Likewise the last hit bonus was a fixed item. The other drops were a few health and stamina potions. One hundred col and a peculiar ring.

The ring of luck. Legendary.

Adds 200 luck.

User has to have 500 Vitality to equip.

Yes, peculiar indeed. It was such a good item because you couldn't add stat points to your luck stat. I definitely need it. I think the requirements are added from my luck stat.

Hmm that reminds me, I haven't explained what the different stats do.

Strength ups your attack.

Agility ups your speed and increases your stamina.

Intelligence adds a stat point every five points added to it. It also lessens stamina consumption.

Vitality ups your HP.

Luck ups the chance of finding rare items.

At the beginning of the game each player has five in each stat, except luck, that's randomized, additionally you gain five stat points each time you level up. Likewise you can also increase stats individually by doing different exercises.

Now, let's allocate these stat points.

Just at that moment I tripped on a patch of grass and groaned. This had been happening to me ever since I found out about my luck stat. I had been given the title "tripster". It's also the reason I lost so much HP in the boss fight. I tripped just as I was about to dash and got hit by the troll. It was lucky that I had an HP potion with me.

It had been a month since the death game had begun. Over two thousand people had already lost their lives. I had decided to focus on leveling up my skills.

I had leveled up twice and placed the first six stat points into int, the next level I got seven points and placed those into int as well. Now you may be wondering why, well cause if I have more points in int, I get more stats everytime I level up. At this point in time I had 25 in Int, the two extra was because of the studying I did. Likewise I gained an extra three in strength and agility. What, I like exercising. The agility was from all the running and dashing I did.

My dash had gone up one hundred sp. And my sprint had also gone up one hundred. Likewise I had also created another skill.

Armless coats

250/1000

I had worn a jacket without using the sleeves. It gave me this skill. At first, every step I took my jacket would fall off. Now at mastery 250, it still fell off sometimes and I could not use it in battle.

As for why I would use it in battle… a question for another time. The jacket I wore was a deep blue.

At this moment a meeting was being held by the top players so far.

The meeting was being held in what looked to be a ruined building. I was sitting right at the top of the ruins, behind the blue haired man who seemed to be the leader. The rest of the players were sitting on steps leading down to a small semicircle of stone.

"Clap, Clap. Okay people, now that everyone's here, let's get this meeting started." the blue haired man announced.

The last player sat down. A black haired… girl? Boy?... doesn't matter. He/she had a sword strapped to his back.

"So anyway, I wanna thank everyone for coming. Good to see you. My name is Diabel. And in this game, the job I rolled is knight." That bought a few snickers from the crowd. One even said there wasn't a job system in this game, acting like Diabel was an idiot.

I chuckled. He sure had an upbeat attitude. Diabel then became more serious.

"Right, anyway, here's the deal. My part found the boss room at the top of the tower today." that drew some surprise and disbelief.

I raised an eyebrow. I had found the room a week ago, my luck stat had messed up my teleportation crystal. I was transported to the boss room. Luckily I was able to escape relatively unharmed. I had then decided not to tell anyone where it was because of just how I found it. Way too embarrassing.

"First we need to defeat the boss and make it to floor two. The next step is, we have to tell everyone waiting in the town of beginnings that it is possible to defeat this game. Fact is, it's our duty as the most capable players here. Do you agree or not?"

Muttering once again arose from the crowd, before they all began to clap. There was even a whistle. I noticed the player whose gender I could not identify was not clapping. But he was smiling so that was something.

"Glad to hear you're all with me on this. Now, let's figure out how we're gonna beat the boss. First off, we'll team up into parties of six. A typical party doesn't stand a chance against a floor boss. We need a raid group, made up of multiple parties."

I once again noticed the black haired player alone near the top of the stairs. The player was looking around frantically. Then the player scooted closer to another player that was hidden with a cloak.

Wait I didn't notice her enter. Interesting. Looks like they have partied up. I found my party. I stand up, only to fall off the building and land behind Diabel, head first. My jacket fluttered down and landed on me.

"Hey guys look, it's the tripster!" Some random guy shouted.

"You alright there?" A large dark skinned man walked over and asked.

"Yeah I should be good. Not the first time this has happened." I groaned and stood up.

"Hey, you two!" I called up to the black haired player and the hooded player i was observing before. "Can I join your party? Two player party is not a good idea, you will have more of a chance with three players!"

"Uhh," that was the black haired player. "You good with him joining?"

"Yes"

I grinned. A screen appeared in front of me with the request to join the party. I pressed yes. So their names are Kirito and Asuna. Then I walked over to the steps, well I tried to. I tripped and stumbled before I fell down, right on to the bottom step, where I sat. What luck. Oh wait… there goes my HP… only five points? Must be my lucky day.

"Alright, looks like everyones teamed up. Now then-"

"Hold up a sec!" a voice cut off Diabel. A figure jumped down the steps, making his way down to the bottom before he skidded to a stop. "My name's Kibaou, got that? Before we take on the boss, I wanna get something off my chest. We all know about the two thousand people who died so far yeah? Well some of you need to apologise to em right now!"

More muttering broke out of the crowd. I looked on in interest.

"Kibaou, I think I know who you're referring to. You mean the ones who were ex beta testers, right?"

"Course I mean them, the day this stupidass game started, the beta guys just up and vanished, right? They ditched all of us beginners. They snagged all the good hunting spots and they grabbed all the easy quests too. They were the only ones getting stronger in here, this whole time they've ignored us like we're nothing. Hell I bet there's some of them here! Come on out beta testers!"

Kibaou then pointed to the right. "We should make them apologise to all of us."

He then pointed to the left. "And we should make them give out all their money, and the items they got. They can't expect the party to trust them if they dont trust us, why should we?" He folded his arms.

I noticed kirito grit his teeth.

"Can I say something?" the heavy built dark skinned man, who asked if I was okay before, stood up. He then walked over to Kibaou. Kibaou took a step back when he saw the intimidating man.

"Hey, my name's Agil. Kibaou right? I wanna make sure we're on the same page. You say the beta testers should be blamed for the deaths of the rookies cause they didn't help them and you want them to apologise and give up all their winnings. I leave anything out?"

"No, you didn't." Kibaou answered. Agil grabbed a book from his pocket.

"The item store hands these out for free, it's a guide book. You got one didn't you?"

"Sure I got one, so what about it." I nearly released a laugh. It was all so amusing.

"You know who was handing these out? The ex beta testers." that started another lot of muttering in the crowd. I groaned too many surprises today.

Kibaou grit his teeth, anger apparent on his face.

"Listen up," Agil turned around. "Everyone had equal access to this information. Even so, lots of players still died. Now I didn't come here to point fingers at anyone. I'm here cause I want to learn from those players' deaths. I'm here cause i wanna find out how we're gonna defeat the boss."

Agil turned around, back to kibaou. Kibau glared up at Agil and let out a huff. Then he walked over to the stairs and sat down, his arms and legs crossed, a scowl on his face.

Agil sat beside him.

"Okay," Diabel grabbed a guide book out of his pocket. "Can we get back to the meeting now?" the crowd nodded as one.

"For info on the boss, it's all in here." Diabel held up the book. "The latest issue of the guide book you just heard about." Everybody gasped, and Kibaou opened an eye to look incredulously at diabel. I tuned out of the rest of the meeting as I had already read the book. This information was the stuff from the beta test. Wait, didn't it take a month to find the boss room, even though there were a thousand beta testers?

"Excuse me!" I yelled out, drawing everyone's attention. Most of them groaned at another interruption. "Didn't it take over a month to find the boss room?" I heard affirmations all around me. "Didn't we also have a thousand beta testers? If so we should have found the boss room in less than a week. However I believe that since the boss room changed locations, couldn't other stuff change? We need to be careful even with this information, it could be wrong."

That drew even more gasps. Now, I'm not saying ignore the information, but just be wary of it. Continue."

The meeting proceeded without any other interruptions.

Next time on Pales Adventures the fight between the boss and the players will commence.

This chapter has a lot of it taken from the original story line in the anime.

An: Hi guys, this chapter will be updated, but i would like some constructive criticism for this story. Point out where I made mistakes and what I could do to improve the story. At this moment I don't have much of a story line, but that's because the idea came to me only a few days ago. I also won't be adding in the exact amount of damage the characters do. This is because I'm too lazy to actually do math. Also Pale will be getting a unique skill from one of his stats.
