PJOxHaikyuu. This one is complete and utter bullshit, but I like both the fandoms. Not much more to say outside of that.

Sea Crow

Following the Second Giant War, Perseus "Percy" Jackson needed a break. A break from the fighting, the surviving, the mourning; all of it. He came out of it relatively okay for a demigod with a fatal flaw of personal loyalty.

He could only cry as his loved ones' pyres burned for so long. It hurt. Like Hades it hurt to watch some of his closest friends finally be sent off to Elysium. Clarisse and Chris, despite all his arguments with the former, were hard to see go. He was slightly relieved (as disgusting as it was) to see them go together.

Connor Stoll died watching his brother's back and all he could do was offer his condolences to Travis. He was happy that Katie was there to keep him grounded.

And Leo. Nobody knew if the little pyromaniac was even still alive, but he refused to let go of hope. He couldn't. Because if he did then it made it all more real.

Perhaps it was naive, but it was what motivated him to keep going even just a little bit more.

And not all of the goodbyes were due to death. Jason and Piper set off on their adventures to recognize the Minor Gods and keep their promises. Hazel was being groomed by Reyna to take her place next to Frank as Praetor where they would hopefully live a long and peaceful life.

Nico was coming out of his shell thanks to Will and running errands for his father. The little goth started to get some color to his skin and meat on his bones, much to Percy's relief.

Annabeth… Annabeth was different. They came out of the Pit different and therefore dealt with it differently. Annabeth absorbed into her work on Olympus and they talked just about everyday via monster-proof phones that Leo left plans behind for. And they would IM on weekends when they could.

But Percy didn't have anything to fall back on, so he decided on a leave of absence from camp. An undetermined leave to spend time with his family and his new little sister.

She became the driving force for him to take better care of himself. With her around, he was no longer plagued by the darkness of the wars and the Pit. The nightmares still came, but with increasingly less frequency, and he was approaching his normal build before the malnutrition from Tartarus.

Just as he was making these improvements too, Paul got a new job as an English teacher. In Japan. Percy couldn't honestly tell if it was godly influence or not, but he was feeling better than he had and if Estelle was going, then he was forsure going too.

The months leading up to the move, he (for once) politely asked a few favors from the Gods. Zeus gave him permission to fly, Athena gave him reading glasses that would translate any text to Ancient Greek so he could focus on his studies easier, and Apollo gave him some intermediate knowledge on Japanese language, culture, and customs.

Apparently, the haikus weren't the only thing he picked up on.

And of course, his father unlocked more abilities as a safety precaution should he run into any mythological problems, in Miyagi at Karasuno-

BRRRRINNGGG

The obnoxious bell brought him out of his musings and signaled the end of class. Percy sighed heavily as his day was finally over and he could return home to do his work and relax with his family.

He didn't have any after school clubs - not yet at least - but he was on the fence about joining the swimming team with the season in June. With another sigh, he finished packing up his materials and made for the door.

Luckily, the stares and mutterings of the students tapered off after the first week. It was rare to get a foreign student apparently, even rarer for one with Percy's image.

Percy wasn't that big of an idiot though. He knew that they were talking about the scars that moderately covered his arms, hands, and torso, if the few that peaked out from his collar were any indication.

Not that he minded too much. He understood that it was bizarre for someone so young to have them, but whenever anyone had the courage to ask, he would just smile kindly and tell them he grew up troubled in New York City.

He did find it particularly funny when they blushed in embarrassment and quickly bowed their apology. It wasn't the cultural significance that he found funny, just how flustered they would become, given that he had been nothing but smiles to those he interacted with.

'Another day. Another peaceful day. This is exactly what I-,' he mused to himself, only to be cut off by a small body colliding with his own.

LINEBREAK

Hinata Shoyo was late. Again. It wasn't because he was studying any harder in his last class of the day - most everyone knew that he didn't study all that hard. He was distracted. Distracted by the soul crushing loss against Aoba Johsai in the Inter High Tournament.

He wanted to win more than anybody (except maybe Kageyama) to finally prove to everyone that he could stand on the court. That his height didn't matter because he could fly. But they came up short.

How ironic Kami-sama truly was.

Scolding himself for thinking so negatively, he physically shook those thoughts from his head and took off through the hallways to get to practice.

'Gotta beat Bakayama ther-,'

"Oof!" Hinata cried as he found purchase on the floor and rubbed his head quickly.

'That felt like I ran into Date Tech's Iron Wall!' Hinata thought before he was broken out of his musings by a deep rumbling chuckle.

"Sorry about that, little dude," the voice said with traces of amusement and Hinata looked up to see a deeply tanned hand with white lines on it. Hinata took the hand without hesitation, only realizing later that those lines were scars.

"You okay?" the voice asked again, making Hinata register the fact that he was just called little.

"Oi! I'm not that short!" he cried indignantly before finally looking up at the person he just ran into.

The hand belonged to a very tall man with messy windswept hair darker than a crow's feather and mesmerizing sea-green eyes. He was so tall and imposing, yet the gentleness in his eyes and his easy lopsided smile immediately put Hinata at ease.

'He's as tall as Tsukishima and looks scarier than Asahi-san, but he gives off the same vibe as Suga-san!' Hinata thought.

The man chuckled almost fondly again and replied, "my mistake. You're almost as tall as me!" he told Hinata, but it wasn't mockingly like Tsukishima or Kageyama. It was a light teasing tone that had Hinata smiling without realizing it.

Before Hinata could even say another word, he spoke again.

"Sorry about that though. I was lost in my thoughts. I'm Jackson Perseus, but you can just call me 'Percy'," Percy told the small orange-head in front of him.

Hinata finally got his bearings and bowed quickly in apology. "Sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going! Nice to meet you Percy-san! I'm Hinata Shoyo!" he said rapidly and still bowing, but luckily he shouted it so Percy had no trouble hearing it.

"Come on now, up you get. I'm not one for formalities, Hinata-san. Just call me Percy. Where are you headed in such a hurry, if you don't mind my asking?" Percy said with another gentle smile, making Hinata beam at the older student.

Percy swore for a minute that the kid had some Apollo in him because his smile reminded him of the sun.

"Hai, Percy! You can call me Hinata or Shoyo! And I'm headed to volleyball practice!" Hinata shouted again, making Percy chuckle at the kids energy.

"Volleyball huh. What position do you play?" Percy asked, and while it didn't seem like a big deal, it was to Hinata. It was the first time that someone didn't ask him if he was a manager or if he was serious with his height. Percy just simply asked what he played.

That small question simply made Hinata's eyes sparkle with excitement and the fires of determination burn brightly for someone he had just met didn't seem to doubt him for a second.

"I play MB! You're really tall, Percy! Do you play volleyball too? Do you wanna join our team?!" Hinata asked excitedly.

Percy chuckled again, unable to do much else with the little firecrackers energy radiating off of him and infecting everything around him.

"That's cool. You must have a skip in your step to block. Thank you. I like to think my height is fairly average, and I played beach a decent amount at a summer camp I went to in the States. I don't know-," Percy answered, but was cut off by the bubbly tangerine.

"Beach! That's so cool! Come on! I'll introduce you to the team!" Hinata exclaimed and grabbed Percy by the wrist, forcibly dragging him to the gym.

'He might have ADHD worse than Leo,' Percy thought half-amusedly and half-somberly as he was dragged off to the gym.

LINEBREAK

The team was gathered and had just finished setting up the nets and balls for practice before moving into their stretches. The mood was slightly tense, with the defeat in the tournament fresh on everyone's minds and the desire to work harder burning brightly within all of them.

All of them, except their missing decoy.

"Where is Hinata that boke?!" Kageyama yelled, but before Sawamura could answer, the doors banged open and the little blocker ran into the gym.

The team was surprised when they saw the man he was dragging behind him who was sporting an amused expression in his eyes with a small smile on his face.

"Hinata… who is this?" Suga asked gently, eyeing the man that got dragged across campus with curiosity just as everyone else was doing.

"This is Percy! He's really tall! Almost as tall as Tsukishima! He said he played beach in the States! Isn't that cool?!" Hinata shouted in palpable excitement, making Percy chuckle again and rub the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Hi. I'm Jackson Perseus, but you all can call me 'Percy'. I ran into Hinata in the halls - or rather he ran into me, and dragged me along after we talked a little about volleyball. Nice to meet you all," Percy said with a small bow that was reciprocated by the others.

"Percy… the foreign student from America, right?" Suga asked and Percy turned to him with a lopsided smile and a nod.

"Yeah. My step-father just got a job here as an English teacher; Mr. Blofis," Percy told him and Suga smiled in return.

"Did you want to join the team?" Tanaka and Nishinoya shouted simultaneously before they were smacked on the back of the head by Ennoshita.

Percy just chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck again. "Well…" he said and trailed off.

Daichi sighed heavily. "Hinata dragged you here before you could answer, didn't he?"

Percy laughed good naturedly and waved him off. "It's fine, really. My mom was pestering me about joining a club and I was thinking about swimming, but I don't mind watching since I'm here," Percy said easily.

Daichi smiled in relief that, even if they didn't get a new player, they would at least have another fan. Daichi told him he could sit with the coaches while he went to scold Hinata.

Percy introduced himself to Coach Ukai and Takeda-sensei as well as Kiyoko and Yachi, even going so far as to help them with the waters, while the team talked during their stretches.

"What do you guys think?" Daichi asked softly as they stretched, all of them inspecting the guy.

"He looks about as tall as Tsukishima and could hit harder than Asahi," Yamaguchi replied while others nodded.

"He looks more intimidating than Tanaka, but has the same aura as Suga," Narita added.

"He said he played beach though. That's pretty different from indoor," Suga critiqued gently, making the others reflect.

"He seems… strange. The way he moves and watches everything it's really… odd," Tsukishima commented in slight confusion, only further confusing the rest of the team.

"He's so tall though and he looks strong! I'm sure he'd be great!" Hinata whisper-yelled, not a bit phased by the others' comments.

"Enough. We'll just have to wait and see. For now, let's focus on practice!" Daichi called and received a round of acknowledgement from the team.

LINEBREAK

One thing about the new guy, Percy, was that he was observant. Frighteningly so. It seemed that he was picking apart every single aspect of everyone's game while still being conscious of the ball.

The run up approach for Kageyama's jump serve, Hinata's approach for his spike and quick, Nishinoya's receives; he didn't seem to miss anything.

Coach Ukai and Kiyoko took notice of that quickly and were rather impressed with his ability. Although, none of that would matter if his own skills were up to par.

Yet that was just another thing they noticed. Not once did he seem surprised (other than the slight uplifting of his eyebrows and the twitch of his lips at the freak duo's quick attack) and he carried himself with a confidence that most grown men didn't have. It was a curious thing.

The practice had winded down and the team was about to start their cool down stretches when Percy turned to Ukai.

"Coach, I know I'm not in the proper clothes, but could I try to copy the moody one's jump serve? And maybe a few blocks and spikes?" Percy asked politely, slightly surprising those that heard him. Ukai less so since he knew it was hard for a competitive person to simply watch others play volleyball.

"Sure. Nishinoya! Percy wants to try a serve. Would you receive it?" Ukai asked and Nishinoya hopped up with a big smile.

"Hai!" he yelled and got into position while the others cleared out to watch.

Percy carefully removed his sweater and tie from the school uniform, unbuttoned a few buttons from the collar, and rolled up his sleeves as he approached a ball on the ground.

A few of the players closer to him noticed some of his scars, but chose not to address it, both out of respect and fear. Who really had that many scars at their own age?

Percy carefully kicked it up with his foot and palmed it to test the weight and feel. He copied the steps of Kageyama's approach, making the boy stiffen in recognition.

He threw the ball high into the air and approached confidently. His arms swung back to parallel with the ground. He planted his feet and took to the skies.

Only to catch the ball on his way down.

"Sorry about that. Gimme a few more tries to get it right," Percy said with a minor tinge of embarrassment, making some chuckle and others smile encouragingly.

He went again, throwing the ball into the air, running up, and jumping, but the ball was too low. His eyebrows were furrowed in thought when he hit it, it went straight into the upper third of the net.

The others told him not to mind, but he was already gathering another ball that Kiyoko bounced to him as he gave her a gentle smile.

The smile never left his face as he set up his approach, making Ukai realize that he had it figured out.

Percy took a deep calming breath with his eyes closed and when they snapped open, he slapped the ball between his hands, startling the crowd with the boom.

Ukai saw the smirk on his face and couldn't help mirroring it on his own.

'Three attempts and this kid already figured out how to correct his mistakes,' he thought excitedly.

The ball was tossed into the air, higher than the last two, and Percy approached. His arms swung back with his chest still mostly upright as the ball reached its peak.

Percy planted his feet and sprung off the ground, similar to Hinata's jumps, making the team's eyes widen at the height.

Hinata was watching it all as if it were in slow motion. Percy's arm pulled back and made contact with the ball, sending ripples across the elastic sphere.

BOOM

Like the cannonball he shot at the school bus on his fifth grade trip, the ball blasted to the other side of the court in the blink of an eye and found purchase in the back right corner, just inside the line.

The dull thuds of the remaining bounces were all that could be heard in the gym as Percy looked at his reddening hand.

It wasn't as if he was hooked on volleyball that very moment like Hinata and Kageyama were. But at that moment, an even bigger lopsided grin found its way to his lips. A grin of satisfaction, of joy, of stress-free fun.

Percy looked up at the gaping expressions of the team and chuckled a little, breaking them out of there frozen states.

"Okay, that was pretty fun. Let me try some blocking and I'll talk to my mom tonight," Percy told them and received smirks and grins from all of them present.
