As for this story itself, I have been wanting to write it for a long time. I hope you enjoy it! :)
Chapter 1 Let's-a Party!
While Bowser's Castle was often a place of silence and peace, now it was filled to the brim with noise. Roy had posted on one of his social media accounts that he was throwing a party, so naturally people flocked to his humble little home like moths to a flame. It was amazing, seeing all different kinds of people show up. It made Roy feel like a celebrity.
Roy smiled in satisfaction as he admired the work that he had done. The throne room of Bowser's Castle was overflowing with people who had come to the party. Koopa troopas, goombas, and Dragon koopas were bouncing up and down to the music that was barging out of the humongous speakers. A disco ball was in the place where the chandelier usually went, and it was sending glittering rainbow lights all around the room. Everyone was whooping and cheering like there was no tomorrow.
"Hey!" a voice shouted from Roy's left. Roy turned and saw Wendy. She looked a little uneasy, but only a little. Otherwise, she was grinning like a crook.
"Hey!" Roy yelled over the music. "How's my party treating you?"
"Great!" Wendy responded as she gave Roy the thumbs up sign. "This has got to be the best party you've ever thrown!"
Roy swelled with pride. Granted, it was the only party he had ever thrown. But still, those words meant a lot coming from his sister. Wendy turned toward the dancing crowd.
"All these people seem really happy too! I almost want to go join them!"
"Well, why don't you?"
Wendy put on a nervous expression. She glanced back at the crowd, biting her lip as she did so.
"I don't know about that..."
"Oh come on, Wen!" Roy started to gently push his sister toward the crowd. "Go on! Go dance!"
Wendy seemed to be fighting Roy's gesture, obviously afraid of going out onto the dance floor. But really, she had no reason to be! Dancing was easy and fun! Roy himself was a master at dancing, especially the moonwalk. If he could do it, so could she! He pushed harder.
"Go on, sis! Go dance your troubles away!"
With one more hard push, Wendy stumbled into the crowd. Roy cast her a reassuring smile, which caused her to start dancing. Watching Wendy dance was like watching a race car. At first, she was barely dancing, only swaying her hips back and forth in a slow motion. After a while though, she started to speed up. She moved her arms, bobbed her head, and shimmied her feet. Roy gave her a thumbs up. Unfortunately, right at that moment, Wendy tripped and fell into one of the partygoers. She laid on top of them, her cheeks turning sunburn pink.
"I am so sorry!" She yelled over the music. The koopa who she had landed on looked ready to bite her head off. He gritted his teeth and got into his shell. He started chasing the poor Wendy around, causing her to scream loud enough to be heard over the music.
Roy chuckled. Yeah, clearly he was the master at throwing parties. Really, why wouldn't he be? Throwing parties was what all the cool kids were doing! And considering that Roy was the leader of the cool kids, it would only be natural that he would be awesome at it.
Suddenly, the music came to a stop. Roy looked over at the DJ table in confusion. There he saw Lemmy, wearing a frilly orange clown suit and a beaming smile. He spoke into the microphone he was holding with a voice that would help him win the happiest Koopa in the world contest.
"Hey, everyone! Who wants to see the Amazing Lemmy do some tricks?"
A good chunk of the crowd cheered. This caused Lemmy's smile to grow even brighter. He ran out from the DJ table and hopped onto his Circus ball. Grinning, he got into a handstand position and started to roll the ball around the throne room. Roy laughed and clapped.
"Great job, Lems! Woop woop!"
Lemmy beamed with confidence. He started to do all sorts of acrobatic tricks on the ball, such as flips and cartwheels. When he finished and dismounted his ball, all of the partygoers cheered. Lemmy bowed.
"Thank you, thank you!" He chortled. "I was having a true 'ball!'"
Some portion of the crowd laughed, others booed. Either way, the smile did not disappear from Lemmy's face. He skipped over to Roy, a giddiness that only he could produce causing his face to shine.
"Hey, Roy!" he said. "I can't thank you enough for throwing this party! This was a great idea!"
Roy smirked.
"Of course it was!" He puffed out his chest. "All of my ideas are great ones!"
Lemmy burst into laughter, hugging his sides as he did so.
"Oh, Roy, that joke was hilarious!" He turned toward Wendy and waved at her. "Wendy! Yoohoo!" The sole female Koopaling slowly came back over, a thankful and flustered look on her face.
"Thank you for doing that, Lemmy," she said. "You really saved my hide back there."
"Hey, it's what I'm here for!" Lemmy exclaimed. His eyes twinkled. "Ooh, are we going to break out the cake anytime soon?"
Roy waved his hand, smirking as he did so.
"Pfft. Please. Who needs cake when you've got awesomeness?" He swept his hand across the scope of the room majestically. "Everyone here is doing just fine without some silly cake!"
"Aww," Lemmy said as his shoulders drooped and his face fell in disappointment. Wendy took a step forward, frantically wiping any dust off of her front side.
"I am still surprised that we managed to pull this off." Her eyes filled with fear. "I mean, Bowser has made it perfectly clear that he would have our heads if we throw a party while he's away."
The music started right back up again. All of the partygoers jumped up and down excitedly. Roy exchanged a look with Lemmy. While Lemmy looked worried, Roy just brushed it off with a snicker.
"Wendy, don't worry! Bowser isn't going to be home until tomorrow! He'll never find out about this!"
Right at that moment, the door burst open. A record scratch sound carried around the room as the music stopped. All of the dancers turned. Roy felt his heart drop into his stomach when he saw Bowser standing in the doorway. The Koopa King stared at the rainbow lit scene in shock.
"What's all this?" he cried. The partygoers all turned toward Wendy, Roy, and Lemmy. Every last one of them pointed a finger at the three Koopalings.
"They did it!" they cried in unison. With that, each and every single one of them rushed out the door. Once they were gone, Bowser stared at his adopted children. His scarlet eyes formed into slits. Steam shot out of his nostrils.
"What did I say about throwing a party while I was away?"
Wendy and Lemmy gulped so loudly that Roy was able to hear them, even while he was moonwalking away.
