Important Message PLEASE READ: As of right now, I am rewriting parts of this story in order to flesh it out more, make it less cheesy and rushed, along with possibly adding a few new chapters. Currently, the final two chapters, this one and chapter 13 have been rewritten. I'll update this message accordingly with each update. Journey of a Saiyan has been one of my favorite stories ever written and now that I've gained more experience, I want to give it the rework it deserves. Thank you for reading everyone.

"Will he be alright?" A feminine voice called to another in the dark fog of my mind.

"He will Aspara, this planet is one devoid of any hostile life. We'll come for him in one year's time." A deeper voice responded.

"Can I see him dad? One more time?" A younger voice than the two of them asked.

"Of course Cellio, come here." Opening my eyes a little bit, I see two large figures holding a smaller one, the small one reaching out to me.

"I can't wait to see you again baby brother. Be safe, please."

"We'll see you soon, Cherik, my son." The deep voice told me. After that, the three shapes backed up, something rose from below me, turning the world an odd color, then, everything fell away below me rapidly, soon the only things I saw, were blackness and dots, then, I rested.

I woke up to an incredibly loud noise, then many other loud and repetitive noises along with a flashing light. This scared me, causing me to cry, almost drowning out the other noises on my own; eventually, it stopped and I calmed down, something putting me back to sleep once more. The next time I awoke it was because of another loud noise, followed by a sudden stop; then, the small container I was in opened, revealing a new world and a lot of destroyed earth. I sat there, confused for a while, until I heard something, or rather, someone coming, steps being taken carefully and an old voice.

"Well, what do we have here? Some kind of experimental space junk?" I then saw the source of the noise walk into view, making me crawl out of curiosity. "Wait, is that a kid? Are you an alien little feller?" I crawled towards him and when I got close, he picked me up, looking me over. "You got a tail too; I can tell you're definitely not from here, what's your name little guy?" He lifted and looked me over, finally seeing something on the chest of the cloth I was wearing over me. "Cherik? Is that who you are?" I laughed at this and he smiled, laughing a little too. "Well Cherik, my name is Radgas. Why don't you come live with me until someone comes for you? Would you like that? I have plenty of food too." I heard something growl, then felt it coming from me, I looked down and started sniffling, about to cry. "Looks like food it is. I feel like we're going to get along just fine."

That fateful encounter was nearly six years ago, currently, I'm living with Radgas in the woods, it's a rather peaceful life for us, he's told me the story of how he met me and it's still one of my favorites. Our little cottage in the woods barely had enough space for two, so I tended to sleep in front of the fire place a lot of the time, but it was home.

"Cherik my boy, would you be so kind as to get some saber meat for today, we're running low." He asked me from the small kitchen; I climbed down from the roof as I hung to it with my tail, flipping towards the door.

"You can count on me!" I said with a cheery tone; he laughed and ruffled up my hair.

"Attaboy. Remember what I taught you alright?"

"Only take what you need, I know, I know."

"And don't hurt too many of them." I turned back and smiled, giving a thumbs up. Once I walked out the door, I ran full speed into the woods, jumping from branch to branch, swinging around and scouting, until I found what I was looking for, the top predators of the forest, saber tigers, large orange cats with very long teeth, most humans would be terrified to encounter one, but I'm not most humans. I jumped through the branches until I saw one alone, this one looked like it had a lot of meat on it and I licked my lips, imagining the taste of it cooked. Slowly, I hopped through the trees until I was right on top of it, then jumped down onto its back, surprising it; it was about to let out a roar, but I clamped its mouth shut with my arms.

"Quiet, we don't want to alert your friends now." It then proceeded to violently shake its head and body around, managing to throw me off, but I just rolled and stood, facing it. "I like you, you can fight." Something inside me always craved a good fight, it didn't matter against who or what, but as long as it could fight, I was ready. The saber got low, growling at me; we circled each other for a little bit until it made the first move, pouncing into the air at me, claws extended, bad idea. I ducked and ran forward, punching it in the stomach and sending it tumbling across the forest floor, it got up, shook its head and then proceeded to run straight at me, fury in its eyes while I smiled widely. I ran right at it, screaming as it roared, I dodged its paw swing as I kicked it in the side, making it slide a few feet, it barely got a chance to recover before I uppercutted its jaw, then kicked it into a tree, both it and the saber making a cracking sound as it hit, the saber falling to the ground, not moving and the tree having a large dent in it. I walked up to the former predator and poked it with a stick, no response, I couldn't see its sides moving, meaning it wasn't breathing.

"Aww, I was hoping you would last longer. Oh well." I lifted it onto my shoulders, the thing easily being ten times my size, but it wasn't too hard to carry it. Sabers used to be a problem before for Ragdas, but once I came along and started playing and fighting with them, they all knew to stay away from our cabin. I dropped the large body on the ground in front of the cabin, then walked in. "I got a reeeaaaaalllll big one this time." Radgas looked at me with surprise.

"Did you now? Come, show me." I walked out and pointed at it triumphantly, I looked up at him and his face showed actual shock.

"How did you do this? This is the biggest saber I've ever seen in person. It's not an alpha, but still. Good work kiddo, I'm impressed at how strong you are." I jumped in place and clapped at his praise, giggling a bit. After dinner that night, before bed, Radgas set me on his lap to talk for a little bit.

"What did you want to talk about Rad?" I asked him, looking up at his kind old face.

"Well, I think it's about time you go to school little one." I tilted my head confused.

"What's that?" He laughed at me, then explained.

"A school is a place where a lot of kids go to learn about things, more than just in these woods. I don't want you growing up only knowing about you, me and the animals, I want you to experience being a human for a little bit."

"You mean there are others like me?" I asked, my eyes widening with wonder and excitement.

"If you mean young, then yes, there are others like you, but if you mean this," he tickled my nose with my own tail, causing me to laugh and pull it away. "then no, you're still the only one." I felt sad for a bit, then it passed as the happiness of meeting more people took its place.

"That's ok, I just want to know how other humans are. I want to know if they can fight." His face turned into one of worry, then slight disappointment.

"I was afraid of that. Look, Cherik, most humans don't fight, they're not like you and a lot are really weak, so you're going to have to learn to hold back alright? And don't pick fights with everyone you see."

"Alright fiiinnneeee." I said with a pout; I then felt Radgas' hand under my chin, making me look up at him.

"Look, you're a special one Cherik, no human alive can punch out a saber like you can, we're weak beings without some kind of tool or weapon, just give this a chance alright? Please?" I looked at the man who took care of me, his request staying in my head for a bit, then I nodded with a small smile.

"Ok, I'll try Radgas." I then hugged him and he hugged me back.

"At least you know how to hold back on that, that's a good start." I then went to bed, wondering what the other kids would be like and when I could meet them.

It took a few months and some preparation, Radgas made me hide my tail and I learned how to restrain my strength pretty well in order to fit in, though he did say showing off a small bit wouldn't hurt anyone. He enrolled me as his grandson and so I began my school life at Woodside, a school that went all the way up until 12th grade, it wasn't super big and was kind of remote, but it was nice, I liked it. Over the years, I learned a lot at Woodside, basic math, science, history and I got along with a few people, though I never really opened up to anyone about who I was, afraid they'd call me a freak or something. On the bright side though, I was really well known since I was the strongest and fastest kid at school, easily breaking every record set from the past, though I did hold back a bit so that it wouldn't be too outlandish for someone else to break them sometime in the future. As I grew up, I wanted to explore more about where I came from, so I explored more of the pod I landed in, finding a suit of armor that seemed too small at first, but I quickly realized grew to match my size; I decided to test out the strength of the armor by throwing rocks at it, letting sabers claw it and with Radgas' help, I shot it with his hunting rifle, not even a scratch on the thing. It felt like plastic, but was more durable than anything on earth, it was white with a blue logo on the left chest, it also had flaps to cover the legs and shoulder guards. Upon closer inspection of the hip flaps, I saw that they were interchangeable and connectable, so for three days, I pieced together my own puzzle, turning the flaps into full on leg armor.

One other thing I found in the pod was an odd device that had a piece of blue glass in front of it with a metal and mechanical body that it was connected to. I tinkered with the device for a few days before figuring out how it worked, though the language it was in was unreadable to me, until I fiddled around more and found a translator so that I could read it clearer. This thing had so many settings, calculator, gps, phone, but its most prominent feature was that it judged how strong someone or something is by giving them a power level, I had so much fun reading powers, seeing how things stacked up, I was a very excitable 12 year old; basic animals like deer, wolves and bears scaled between 6-9, sabers usually had a power level of about 10-12 and I had a power level of 18.

"Radgas, this is so cool, why didn't I search for these things earlier?" I told him as I pressed the button on the side, reading his power level, he smiled at me as per usual before coughing a little bit, something that had been happening as of the past year.

"I'm glad to see you're having fun Cherik." My face went from a smile, to a concerned look as I saw his power at 4, but it slowly dropped, 3.99 3.98 and so on.

"Radgas, are you ok? This thing shows you getting weaker by the minute." He looked at me, his smile dissolving into a sigh before he sat down.

"Come here little one." He motioned me over to sit on his lap and I did, gently, taking off my level reader and setting it aside to look at him. "I'm afraid I don't have much time left with you, but I want you to know that these years we spent together, I shall treasure forever." My eyes began to well up with tears as I hugged him close.

"No, Radgas, you can't go, I don't know what I'd do without you." He placed his hand on my head and spoke softly.

"Yes you do. Explore the world, use your inner power to make something of yourself. You have so much greatness within and with a good, smart head on your shoulders to carry that power." He hugged me as I cried into his chest, eventually falling asleep due to it. I woke up on the couch like every other morning, but this was odd, it was nearly noon and there were no signs of him. I knocked on the door to his room, no response. I knocked again, no response. Quietly, I opened the door to see him lying in bed, but there was no movement, no sound. I walked over to him and touched his hand, it was cold and using my level reader, I saw the worst, power level unreadable. Taking it off, I held his hand, knelt down and cried harder than I did the day prior. I buried Radgas atop one of our favorite hills to go to when we went for picnics, overlooking the forest and the city in the far horizon, marking his grave with a sapling from one of his favorite trees, a willow.

I'm 16 years old now, top of my class at Woodside, single handedly brought the bullying rate to zero since anyone who got picked on would immediately get defended by me and nobody wanted to fight Cherik. During these four years, I took Radgas' words to heart, building up my inner power, eventually realizing I literally did have an inner power, a sort of energy if you will; I learned to fire it out in small bolts, create an aura around me that also served as a self heating and light source as well as allow me to fly; every day after school and homework, I would train into the late hours of the night, building up my skills more and more, even fighting against alpha sabers, the strongest of their species, twice as big as a normal one and their power levels were each 20 or above, the perfect training partners. My life was on a pretty steady pace, until one fateful day during gym class, someone was posting flyers up, the student council president, who upon seeing me, handed me a flyer directly.

"I feel like you'd get the most benefit out of this one Cher." She said, then walked off to post more things across the school. I looked down at the flyer, seeing it was an advertisement for a world martial arts tournament, the first one of its kind, fighters from all over the world gathering around to face each other to claim the championship title and $5,000,000 dollars or equivalent in their currency. My mind was racing while staring at this flyer, so many people to fight and a lot of money to gain from it, I was so distracted, I didn't even realize the basketball that bounced right off my head, only noticing when the guy who did it walked up and apologized.

"Huh, oh, it's alright, don't worry about it. I got a hard head." I joked, then stuffed the paper in my shorts, finishing class and changing discreetly like usual. I have no idea how I was able to hide my tail after all these years, but it kept working. I paid nearly no attention during my final three periods of school as I was distracted at the opportunity presented before me, so many fighters and such a large prize pool. Once the final bell rang, I rushed on home faster than ever before, once I cleared anyone's line of sight, I flew all the way back with a massive grin on my face, about to make a plan for training. Over the weekend, I tried to battle more alpha sabers, but they were too far below me now, not to mention most of them were scared, especially lefty, I call him that because during one of our fights, I accidentally took out his right eye, leaving only his left intact. On Monday, I made it to school early to see if they had any martial arts research, eventually finding one about famous masters and legends, maybe something in there could help me. Throughout the day I read through the book, learning about a bunch of dead old guys who used to be amazing martial arts masters, some of them claiming that they had mystical powers, an internal energy or even magic deep within them. Eventually, I came across one that really got my attention, the legend of Korin, a legendary master who lives atop a large tower that looms over the clouds; should one climb said tower and train with Korin, he will bestow upon them the sacred water of the gods, granting the drinker incredible power. Claims of this legend date back as far as 200 years ago and many say Korin is still alive today to train any soul brave enough to climb.

I returned the book at the end of the day and as I walked out of those double glass doors, I looked back at the large purple W on the front of the school.

"Sayonara Woodside, it's been fun, thank you for everything you've taught me." I then adjusted my backpack, walking home to prepare me for a long long long journey ahead.

Author's note: This was the updated first chapter. I basically used the original intro as a skeleton, took out some useless bones and finally put some real meat on it. I hope you guys enjoyed this rewrite and be on the lookout for more. Peace.
