Sam woke up slowly. Most of the nightmare's effects were gone but the cold feeling still lingered, making shivers rack his body. It took him a few minutes before he realized he was against something warm. He sat up slowly and realized he had been sleeping on Dean's chest. Great, that's blackmail material right there. He thought as he checked the time. It was only 4 in the morning. Sam got up slowly and quietly, grabbing his tennis shoes and walked down the stairs. He tied his shoelaces and headed out the door to go for a run. It would be nice to run knowing nothing was gonna be chasing him.

He got to the end of the road when he spotted a sleek black figure up ahead. He smiled when he realized who it was. "Imp! Come here boy!" Imp pumped his legs and tackled Sam down. He licked his face all over with joy. "How the heck did you get out?" Sam asked. "Me." Sam looked up to see Tray, smiling widely at him. Tray walked over and dragged him into a hug. "Why did you bring him with you?" Sam asked, pulling away from the hug to take in the sight of his friend.

"I figured you'd be missing him, plus he started to whimper the second you walked through that gate." Tray looked expectantly at Imp, making hell's canine cock his head. Tray laughed and scratched the top of his head fondly. "You closed the gate right?" Sam asked, all hell would break loose if other demons got through. "Yeah, I closed it. How was the reunion?" Sam sighed and brushed a hand over his face. "They haven't asked questions yet, but I know they will." Sam paused and scratched behind Imp's ears. "Other than the upcoming interrogation, it went great."

"That's good." Tray said, turning to Imp, "We should probably go and find a place to hide out. Unless your family wouldn't mind a hell hound and a demon staying the night." Tray said sarcastically, making Sam chuckle. "I'm sure they wouldn't." Sam teased back. He watched them turn and blink away. Running, that's what I need to do.

Sam slowed to a stop after running to the end of the second stretch of dirt road that connected to Bobby's driveway. He was winded and tired even after last night's sleep. The nightmares had kept him just on the edge of actual rest. He raised his arms above his head to catch his breath and then turned to run back to Bobby's, no doubt about to get hammered with questions. And the worst part was that he didn't know if he would be able to answer any of them. It's not like Dean had gone into detail about his visit to hell.

He kept running and didn't stop for the break that his legs were screaming at him for. His thoughts couldn't even begin to organize his memories of time in the cage. He couldn't even separate his time in the cage from his time outside of the cage. It was hard after the first year to tell the time difference. Even keeping track of the time back on earth was hard. He was so used to hell time that he hadn't even realized how quick he had gotten to Bobby's after he got out of hell. He felt like he had only slept for a few minutes last night instead of the whole seven hours.

It would take him a while to adjust back to normal, if what his life was could even resemble normal. He didn't even realize he was on Bobby's porch until he was walking in and heading up the stairs. His whole body tensed when he heard the sound of chains dragging behind him. His hands clenched and raised as he turned around. He didn't even realize who he grabbed until Dean was grabbing at his wrists. "Sam, it's just me man." He said, pushing Sam's hands down.

Sam took a few deep breaths and forced his body to relax. He wasn't in hell, he was home. "Sorry, didn't know you were there." Sam said, not missing the confusion in Dean's eyes. "I'm gonna take a shower." Sam said, turning and heading up the rest of the stairs before Dean could protest.

Bobby walked to the bottom of the stairs at the sound of Dean's controlled panicking voice. What the hell? Sam had two fist fulls of Dean's shirt with a far off look in his eye. He thought he was gonna have to walk up there until Dean got him to focus. Sam mumbled something and turned to head up the rest of the stairs. Turned around defeatedly and stomped down the stairs. "I don't know what to do Bobby. I don't even… He had a different tour in hell than I did. I don't know how to be there for him." Dean rambled as he unconsciously followed Bobby to the kitchen.

"Sit down." Bobby said, walking over to the fridge and grabbing him a beer. He set it down in front of Dean, who took it with numb fingers. "You know it's not even the afternoon yet." Dean said, twisting the cap. "Oh, stop bitching and drink the damn beer." Bobby huffed, sitting down across the table. At least he made Dean chuckle with humor. "This is very uncharted territory Dean. We won't know what to expect. We just have to be there for him no matter what." Bobby said, starting to wish that he had grabbed a beer for himself.

"You've gotta have questions. I mean hell. I wish he would tell me about everything that happened down there, but he won't. Because I didn't." Dean said, leaning back in his chair. Bobby watched as the young hunter thought about what to do next. He sure as hell had no clue himself. Here he was thinking he would never see his boy again. But there's Winchesters for ya. He had both his boys back. And damn it felt good. He didn't care how broken Sam might be, he would help mend the pieces back together no matter how long it took.

"You said he called you from a payphone in Shindler right?" Dean asked, breaking Bobby away from his thoughts. "Yeah, it's a few hours away from here." He said, sitting up in his set, about to go ahead and get a beer. Or a whiskey bottle, he hadn't decided yet. "I think we should go check it out eventually, make sure nothing else came out with him." Bobby nodded his head in agreement. It would be bad news if others got out when Sam did. That would mean something real fugly pulled him out.

Sam stepped out of the shower, every ounce of his being dreading going downstairs. He grabbed the towel and wiped down his face and body. Pulling on his jeans he caught sight of the mirror and looked at the scars that littered his body. He froze, he had told himself he wouldn't look in the mirror. Flashes of memories pushed their way to the front of his mind. He gripped the counter and slammed his eyes closed, forcing the memories back in their lock box. Taking deep breaths, he opened his eyes and threw on his shirt. He opened the door and walked downstairs before he could change his mind.

Walking down the hall he readied himself for the upcoming questions. Once he reached the bottom of the stairs and turned into the kitchen all of that prepping he did flew out the window. Bobby was leaning back in his seat at the table with a beer in his hand. Dean was… well Dean looked beyond jittery and nervous. This conversation was going to dredge up some unwanted memories for him too. He avoided Bobby's eyes and walked towards the cabinet with the liquor. He didn't need to be sober for this.

Grabbing the bottle and cup he turned on his heel and forced his legs to move to the table. He sat down and screwed the cap off the bottle, not missing the surprised expression on Dean's face. Yes, he already knew that he never really drank like this, but that was before he spent 120 years in hell. Taking a heavy gulp straight from the bottle he poured a generous amount into his cup. He can tell that neither Bobby or Dean know what to say, so he speaks up. "What do you want to know?" Sam asks, sitting back in his chair.

Bobby swallows another swig of his beer and clears his throat. "How'd ya get out?" Sam sighs and tries to figure out the best way to put it. "One of hell's gates. There was a little opening. It was enough for me to get through." Sam says, lifting the drink to his lips and taking a sip. "I thought you were in the cage." Dean says from his side of the table. "I was, but then I got out of the cage and was trapped in the rest of hell." Sam answers, like it was that simple. It was simple, but it hurt. It took him forever to heal back up, since Lucifer didn't reshape his body like he normally did.

"Okay." Bobby says, scooting his chair out, "I need another beer."
