Later that night, after putting the girls to sleep, Bandit and Chilli got into bed, with the latter saying:

"I'm so proud of you, Bandit. Today, you accomplished your dream of getting your doctorate. And you did all that with nothing but your effort and work."

"You helped me a lot, Chilli" Bandit told. "If it wasn't for your support, I wouldn't have made it."

"You're just saying it…"

"No, I'm not" Bandit said. "Chilli, you gave me the support I needed to focus on my work. After all, you help me with the kids and you always motivated me when I needed it. You and the girls are, without a doubt, the secret of my success."

Those words really touched Chilli's heart.

"Oh, Bandit… That was so sweet" she said, who then noticed something strange on her husband. "What's wrong? I can sense you're not telling me everything."

"It's not that I'm hiding anything, it's just… I wanted to tell you when we were alone" Bandit told. "Dr. Cooper gave me a research project of my own."

"That's amazing!" Chilli exclaimed, giving a kiss to her husband. "That's something you always wanted."

"I know, but…" Bandit started. "I need to go to Darwin in a few days and… I don't know how long I'll stay there. It may be days… or even weeks. You know I hate being away for so long. That's the reason why I've limited my time on the field as much as possible."

"Come on, Bandit, you know I never told anything about your field work" Chilli said. "I know that's something you love to do."

"I know, but… I just don't like being away from you and the kids" Bandit said. "And I can imagine how hard it must be for them to not have me around. I still remember how I used to count the days my dad was away, during the times he was deployed. I don't want that to happen to Bluey and Bingo."

"Bandit, your father used to be away for months" Chilli said. "Probably, you won't be away that much time. I know it's going to be hard for the girls, but we can manage it."

"Are you sure about that?" Bandit asked. "Those two already do anything to prevent me to go to work… at the museum."

"No worries, everything is going to be fine" Chilli asserted.

That caused Bandit to make a big smile.

"Thanks, Chilli" he said. "That means a lot to me."

"Now, how about you just relax and you let me take your worries away?" Chilli asked, while she started to massage her husband's shoulders.

"That sounds… really nice" he replied."

And lied down as Chilli proceeded to give him a massage that made him forget about all his problems.

A few days later, Bandit was ready to get on board of the plane to Darwin and was saying goodbye to his family, while holding his backpack on his back. However, it was being hard for the kids to say goodbye, especially to Bingo.

"No!" she exclaimed, while holding to her father's leg tightly. "I don't want you to leave, Daddy!"

"Oh, Bingo, I also don't want to be away from you, kiddo" he replied.

"Then don't go" Bingo said, with tears on her eyes. "Stay here with us."

"I can't" Bandit said. "Daddy needs to go do his job."

"But… but…" Bingo sobbed.

Bluey then approached her sister Bingo and said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Come on, Bingo, you need to let Dad go."

"But, Bluey…"

"I know, I will also miss him a lot and Dad will also miss us too, but this is important for him" Bluey said. "His job can sometimes take him away… but it's for a little while. He will return to us."

Bandit couldn't help but smile at Bluey for what she just said. He remembered how he once told Bluey about his job and how she expressed some sorrow for feeling to be the reason why he didn't do his favourite part of his job as much time as he used to. Ever since then, Bluey came to have a better appreciation for her dad's job and that's what was allowing her to talk with Bingo like that. She, hearing Bluey, let go of her dad's leg, saying:

"Okay… You can go now, Daddy."

Bandit made one of his tender smiles. He kneeled down and then embraced his two daughters.

"I love you two, squirts" he said. "You're the best daughters I could ever ask."

"We love you too, Dad" Bluey replied, as she and Bingo went to hug their dad tightly.

The three of them stayed like that for some moments, both wagging their tails, while Chilli observed them with a smile and tearing up on one eye. After the hug, Bandit got up and, after waving his family goodbye one last time, moved away.

After sometime, Bandit got on board of the plane, sitting on his place. He looked through the window, right to the airport, hoping that his family was also there to watch him take-off. Soon, the plane took off, starting its journey to Darwin, its destination. Bandit just hoped that trip didn't last too long so he could return back to his family.

Meanwhile, Dr. Cooper was analysing the resumes of potential candidates to occupy the position of facial reconstructionist they needed. He had already found a palynologist and sent him already to Darwin to help Bandit on the field. It was then that he found someone that caught his interest, due to all the recommendations presented in her resume. He started contacting her.

"Hello… Is this Miss Huskin?" Dr. Cooper asked. "This is Dr. Cooper from Brisbane. I'm calling regarding your resume you sent for a job as a facial reconstructionist for a project of ours. I've been reading it and I have to say I found it rather… impressive. You've really caught my attention. So, are you still interested on the job? You are? Most splendid! Then it is yours. You don't need to worry in coming at the moment. The lead researcher I have on the project is still on his way to Darwin. There's no worry. I shall contact you once your presence here is necessary. I know how inconvenient it must be for you to come to Australia from Los Angeles. Very well, I'll call you back then."

He then put down the phone, ending the call, and then came to look again at the resume he has been seeing, with it containing the photograph of a beautiful black and white husky with mismatched eyes and her name could also be read: Emily Huskin…
