Chapter 1

Matthew POV

Jurassic world, how can I not remember going there for the first time. I remember going there while it was being built back in 2003 and now that it was on the verge on being complete in early or late summer of 2005. And while I do have respect for the new owner, he still has a bit of Hammond inside. The only difference being that he is taking more safety precautions and does not take the whole spare no expense to serious. But I still do not like the idea of bringing the whole park back. Not after the tragic event that cost both my uncle and my fathers' life in 1994 and 1996.

In fact, it did not really help the parks case after what happened in 1999. The whole T-Rex rampage because some idiot thought it would be a good idea to bring them to the mainland in San Diego, California. At that point, I just wanted someone to just kill them. Did not care how they do it, they have no right to be here and are nothing but mindless creatures.

But then after hearing about my cousin disappearance, I was desperate for clues and the only thing I got was where he was last seen.

Flashback

Driving to the fisherman's house was hell, because of how hard the rain was poring down. I had to spot, get of the car and push it a bit cause of how slick the mud was. And the wheels I got did not have good traction. But hey that's Costa Rica, which is crazy of how far my cousin has traveled.

I soon arrived at the location where a man would be waiting for me, and right beside me is Orik who volunteered to help me look for any evidence of Carlos' disappearance.

"Welcome boys, how can I help you?" shouted the man as thunder begins to rumble.

"Sargent Matthew, this is my friend Orik were here for Carlos Muldoon."

The man soon asked, "You must be Matthew then, right?"

I shook my head yes before shouting, "You know where they are maybe?"

"I sure do but go inside before some gets a cold.", was all he said before heading inside.

Once all of us got inside, Orik started to walk up to the back of house, while both the man and I sat down to talk.

"John wasn't really much of a talker but after loosing his son passed away in 1990 because of a car accident, both he and his wife ended up divorced. Yeah, it was rough, that's when he sees the lost child poster of your cousin."

I soon interrupted and asked, "He tried to run away?"

"Oh yeah, I'd heard from John that he's done it for several years now. They didn't really explain why…"

"Can we get to the point please?" asked Orik getting a bit frustrated.

"Right sorry, so John ended up adopting Carlos back in I believe in 1999 and two of them had a great time. But then they decided to move here in Costa Rica.", he soon got a map of the country out, "Now, he is a business fisherman and is looking for the best location. Which would be here."

The man circled where they could possibly be, which was just 200 miles from Isla Nublar. But then there was another island just further down from Nublar.

"They first stopped at Isla Nublar and break there for a few days and then headed down in between the two islands. And that's when we lost contact with them."

The man soon started to hear his tea pot whistling, so he got up to get his tea ready.

"Orik?" called the man, "Do you mind, giving me a hand with a few things?"

"Sure, why the hell not.", was his response before the two of them head outside quickly.

After looking at the map for a good minute, I just could not really get what this other island was, since it was labeled restricted. The only person who can answer that is John Hammond himself. Which is impossible since he passed away a few days ago, but the new owner should know what this place is.

"Hang in there Carlos, I'm coming for you." Was all I said before leaving the house with the map.

End of Flashback

"Easy, the last thing we want is to have happen is someone getting hurt.", said James and the two of us started moving down the slippery, muddy hill. With the ran pouring down hard, it was not really making it any easier to carry things.

Its been a few months since we have been stuck on the island, and deep down I am really hating myself for getting almost all my soldiers killed. What I am not looking forward to is to explain to those good men's family members about what happened to them.

Daniels soon slid down the hill a bit before getting back up off the ground to help James out with keeping the materials dry.

"We have to find shelter; we can't allow these materials to get wet!" shouted Daniels.

I soon got down from the trees very slowly only to slip and fall to the muddy ground. James quickly ran up to check to make sure I was ok.

"I'm ok," was all I said before getting back up from the ground and asked, "So what do we got."

"Some of the materials that could help get the radio working."

"That's the good news.", interrupted James.

I soon questioned, "What's the bad?"

Daniels answered, "This stuff is highly sensitive to water, which means we have to find shelter for the night."

I noticed half of a plan on the ground all busted and pointed it out and asked, "How about that plane wreck over there."

"That'll do." Was all Daniels said and the three of us headed over to the wreckage.

While there was a huge hole in the middle, was still enough of a covering for all three of us to take shelter from the poring rain. As of now we wait for the rain to stop.

"So, what now?" asked James.

"Pardon?" was my response.

"I mean, are we still looking for him or are we just getting off the island. It just crossed my mind that we've been focused in getting off this island that we've kind of forgotten about it."

I knew what he meant, but how can I explain it to them. Its not like I can confidently say, yeah, he is a velociraptor. No, they will think I am crazy, but it is not like I cannot ignore them.

"You know, I've forgotten about that as well. But to be honest, I'm starting to think that this was a bad idea from the beginning."

The two men were silence for a good moment, and that is when I got prepared to be yelled at by them. You the usually, "So we wasted our men and time", something like that.

Instead, Daniels came up and sat down next to me. James soon followed and responded, "Its ok, I know what its like to loose someone you care about. But the way I see it, it would be better to let it go."

"What are you saying?" I asked with a bit of offense.

James quickly rephrased for Daniel, "He is saying that Carlos is gone. Either the ocean got him or the dinosaurs, either way we are not going to find him."

Letting go, easier said then done, but they may have a point. He is a raptor now, no longer human. At the same time, he is still family to me, and I will do whatever it takes to take care of him.

The rain soon stopped in the middle of the night, and everyone was fast asleep. Well, everyone except me, just to keep an eye out for any other small predators.

I could almost hear Uncle talking about the raptors.

Flashback

"Now these raptors are highly intelligent thanks to their brain which we discovered to be as good as a crew. Maybe even smarter."

I could remember me just standing there not giving a shit about this whole lesson about those raptors. In fact, the only reason why I had to come, is because my cousin needed an adult to be with him and I had just turned 18. So yeah, I did not really have a choice there. Carlos so young, I could almost see him fully invested about everything Uncle was saying.

After a good long lecture, we were on lunch break. Both father and uncle had to go out for some emergency. Something about a Dilophosaurus being sick or something like that.

Carlos then tugged on my shirt, "Hey, did you know that Velociraptors are actually half the size of a human but because of the DNA that they used, they're actually twice the size."

Me being the uninterested one, just rolled my eyes in response.

"You know, I hope to see one in real life. Especially the one they called Riptor." Said Carlos with excitement, "Father said that she's the gentle one while the other two are very shy and nervous."

"Yeah right, the most fearful creatures that father never shuts up about, are gentle, shy and nervous."

Carlos just stayed quite for a moment and decided not to bother me again.

End of flashback

My train of thought soon snapped when I heard a twig snap. In response, I slowly picked up my spear and slowly walked out of the wreckage. And when I jumped out, I yelled at the top of my lungs. There was nothing.

Great now I feel like an idiot for doing that, like it was going to do anything. That is until something came out of the bushes, which I got into battle stance. And out came a sub adult stegosaurus, with its herd following right behind it.

Taking a breath of relief, I soon head back into the wreckage and started to fall fast asleep. Hoping to find some way to protect Carlos.
