The scent of smoke still hung fresh in the air, thick and suffocating as she took a deep breath, the embers still glowing vividly amongst the remnants of what had once been someone's home. She took a deep breath as they stepped from the car and began to move towards the crowd of detectives.
She couldn't suppress the warmth that crept up her spine at the familiar aroma, fighting hard to suppress the slight smile that the destructive scene brought to her lips. It felt so wrong to her morals and yet, so right to her soul as she caught a glimpse of her sister in the distance and began veering towards the other Omega. With the dreams that she had been having, there were some questions that Sera really needed to ask of the other.
"Hey there horn ball! Not gonna try to rip my head off today are you?"
Her joking comment was met with a vague smirk from Hannibal and small blush of embarrassment from Felicia as she flipped the bird at her sister.
"When you go into heat, remind me to ridicule you for having no control"
Sera sniggered to herself before turning to Hannibal, finger pointed accusingly as the Alpha's eye began to twitch slightly at her words. So rude and yet, he couldn't kill her. A true pity, he knew the perfect dish for her flesh.
"And you! Don't think I can't see the bite marks on her neck. Some bullshit scarf ain't hiding that shit from anyone!"
"Sera, I would request that you keep your voice down. I highly doubt that Felicia or myself want the entire forensic department knowing about our... quality time together"
"Too late for that Doc. Like Sera said, that scarf ain't hiding shit. I think even Manhatten can see that shining beacon of a mating bite"
The sound of Katz comment coursed Felicia's blush to intensify dramatically as Sera's laughter became hysterical, Hannibal and Will watching in disbelief as the Beta and Omega exchanged a high five and a quick 'Amen to that'.
"I hate you both"
"No you don't. You love me because our personal brand of crazy matches so well. Anyway, less about Felicia's vibrant sex life and more about the reason we're here, I smell murder in the air"
Katz scoffed slightly as she pulled out the notes that she'd taken before the two couples had arrived. She'd never quite understand how Sera could speak so cheerfully when stood in the middle of a crime scene. Perhaps it was just the ridiculous amounts of sugar she consumed on a regular basis. Will really needed to keep that in check.
"What we've summed up so far is pretty basic. We know that the victim was already dead when the house was set alight. We're waiting for confirmation of ID, but I've got a pretty strong feeling that we're looking at another abusive Alpha with a track record. Also, I highly doubt it's the real Alabama Arsonist we're looking at here, the poem is still missing"
Poem? Felicia felt a sudden jolt in her mind as words began to sing in her mind and a boiling anger began to well up within.
'We are sugar
We are spice,
We are everywhere,
Fire and Ice.
Ice to freeze the blood in your veins,
Fire to destroy and leave no remains'
Sera felt panic through her heart at the sudden flicker of rage that crossed briefly through her sister's eyes before vanishing once more. She knew that this couldn't have been Felicia, but the recent flashbacks she'd been having left her feeling fear that perhaps, once all their memories had resurfaced, Felicia would return to the path she had once walked. But then, if it had only been Felicia committing such crimes, why did Sera feel the same seething rage at the idea of some amateur mimicking her sisters work? Was it simply a twisted form of pride?
"Leave it with me, clear the scene for a few minutes and let me do my work"
Will's own voice seemed forced as he felt the building panic within his mate. Had she remembered something and failed to tell him? What if she remembered her own part in the pair known as the Alabama Arsonists? He stepped away from the group as Katz quickly evacuated the area, leaving only Hannibal to watch on as he shut his eyes and began to focus on the area around him.
I watch as the young woman drives away from the house, concealed in the bushes as the Alpha begins to stumble back into his house. Drunk, just as he has been most nights in the recent week that I have been observing him.
He doesn't deserve to have an Omega in his life, he is evil. I have seen him through the window, laying his fist against her when he knows that she stands no chance of fighting back.
I'll cleanse him from her life, free her from his torment. I move towards the house and carefully open the door, the sound of the television cancelling out any hint of my entrance. He's lounging on the Sofa with a half empty bottle of Whisky clasped weakly in his hand. Filth, he is nothing but filth and she deserves better. They taught me that, made me see that all Omega deserve better than anything less than perfect.
"For her freedom"
My words are brief and the last thing he hears as I puncture his throat with my syringe, the clear fluid working its way through his system and slowly freezing him from the inside. My face is the last thing he sees before those eyes become glassy and I move to the final task of my night.
I hope that they will see my work this time and answer my call, the elusive pair that taught me the truth. They have been quite for almost a year now, but still I will wait for my angels of death.
"For you, my lovely Alabama Arsonists"
Will snapped from his subconscious, his breathing shallow and desperate as he tried to push the thoughts from his mind before turning to Hannibal with panic in his eyes, not surprised to find that the other was staring at him with a grim look within those sanguine eyes.
"It would seem, dear Will, that we have an admirer to find"
Will shook his head in desperation, struggling to hide the emotions he was feeling as he caught a quick glimpse of his carefree mate in the distance
"It's not just admiration Hannibal. This was obsession, strong enough to be called madness... He's idolising the crimes of their past and trying to lure them out again"
Hannibal remained silent for a moment, stealing a brief glance towards where the two Omega were stood in the distance, seemingly caught up in their own conversation, before coming to his own conclusion. As much as he craved the day that his beloved would return to her true glory, it would not be at the hands of any other but himself.
"Then we shall have to find him first"
"Fliss?"
The pair sat away from the rest of the group, both watching intently as Will went about his work, seeming to mutter to himself as he retraced the steps of the crime.
What is it?"
"Have you remembered anything else recently?"
Felicia felt frozen at her sister's words, at the concern within her voice. Had she had the same flashback? Remember that Felicia had been nothing short of a cold blooded killer? She swallowed thickly, trying to compose herself before speaking in a lower voice to avoid any others hearing.
"I did... And it wasn't pretty. But I doubt it's ever pretty when you realise you've got multiple murders on your hands"
She swiped a hand down her face as she returned to watching the two Alphas, frowning more as she noticed that Hannibal was staring intently at them both before turning back to Will, a look of sheer panic upon the other Alphas face as they talked between themselves.
"But... Something doesn't feel right. Like we're still missing pieces to a much larger puzzle than what we want to admit... Something really doesn't feel right"
Sera hated to admit it, but she had to agree. There were still so many questions that needed to be answered. How had they come to meet their mates, an empathy and a serial killer? How had they become part of the team trying to hunt down some of the world's most notorious serial killers, Hannibal and her sister included. And finally, how had they been placed into a coma in the first place?
Sera sighed as she also swiped a weary hand across her face, thinking desperately for a way to lighten the suddenly tense air.
"Well... I guess that really does prove me right about you and Hannibal. Psychopaths really do attract other psychopaths"
The returning scowl upon her sisters face was enough to bring a small laugh to Sera's lips as she caught the muttered words 'smartass bitch' and turned back to watching Will and Hannibal. The thought that the mess they were in could only get worse was a daunting one, but she knew that it was the only way to truly move on now.
Hey, So I've been away for quite a while, unfortunately the last number of months haven't been nice or pleasant ones and a lot of personal events have meant that I've not been in the right frame of mind to write any of my stories.
Thankfully, I seem to be getting in control of my life once more and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you so much for sticking by this story despite the lack of recent updates, I'm already working on the next update and I hope to have it up within the next week.
Again, thank you for your support and I hope that you enjoyed this update.
