Her fingers clutched into the bed sheets as the burning sensation washed over her, gritting her teeth against the clench in her stomach. She hadn't been prepared for it to feel like this, like a slow burning torture that coiled from her very core and spread to every fibre of her body.
"That bitch could have warned me it felt like this"
Her words were rasped as she fought desperately to reign in her laboured breathing, to control her pulse that she knew would be helping to pump out the scent of her heat. She was grateful that Will had left the house, a mention that we needed to let the dogs out for their morning run.
She had time. She wasn't ready for this, not when she and Will hadn't even slept in the same bed as each other yet. It was endearing really, that Will seemed too much of a gentleman to simply steal his own bed back from his mate.
"You can do this Sera… Felicia used drugs but you're hardcore… get it together!"
As if to defy her motivation, a fresh wave of fire hit her and she gasped at the tingling it left behind upon her skin, her eyes darting to a bottle that lay upon the bedside table. Felicia had slipped her the bottle of suppressants with a knowing smile at Hannibal's last dinner party, muttering something about 'being ready'.
"Subtle bitch… Subtle"
She turned her gaze away from the bottle and gripped her hands into the bedding once more, a groan of both pain and need escaping her lips. She could do this, her biology was not the master of her body, her mind could win this battle. She could survive for a few days feeling like she was rolling in fire… Maybe a week at most.
"Fuck that!"
Her hands had lunged for the bottle before her remaining will power could argue against it, throwing two pills down her throat, a grimace upon her lips at the bitter taste before waiting for the relief to kick in.
The minutes ticked by as the burning across her flesh began to sooth and disappear, her fingers relaxing in the bedding as she willed herself to leave their comfort. She picked up the little bottle, frowning as she swiped a hand across her face.
She couldn't rely on them for long, she'd run out eventually. She also felt a little guilty for denying Will her heat, though she couldn't explain why, it just felt like those moments were the only time Will could truly embrace his Alpha status. But she was scared and so far from ready for what it would entail.
"Sera, are you awake?"
She felt her breathing hitch as Will's voice carried from downstairs, followed by the shutting of a door and multiple paws pounding across the floor. She knew it could only be the lingering effects of her drug tampered heat but his scent reached her even from the kitchen as she padded cautiously out of the bedroom and lingered at the top of the stairs, inhaling deeply and stifling the groan of desire at the enticing scent.
Like woodlands on a chilly spring evening, the gentle waft of pine floating upon the breeze and soothing her soul as her spirit clawed to just fall victim to the tranquillity that he could offer. She could just imagine what their scents could combine to be, her own fiery scent like a log burning fire. Together it would paint a beautiful picture of a little cabin in the middle of a pine forest, the crackling of the fire warming them as they embraced each other and moved to the world around them.
"Yeah, be down in a minute!"
Her sense of panic renewed as realisation dawned on her. Will had abnormal levels of empathy, what if he looked into her eyes and knew the truth, what if he realised that her heat was in full swing and that she'd forced it down with suppressants? He'd hardly be happy about it. She frowned even more, why did she care about his thoughts when it was her body?
Rebuilding her confidence, she began to descend the stairs and headed for the kitchen, gritting her teeth slightly as Will's scent intensified as she drew closer. She needed coffee, something to take her mind off the situation, even for a moment. She avoided Will's eyes as he turned to face her from the counter, a cup of fresh morning heaven in each hand as he tried to understand why it was now her avoiding his gaze.
"Are you alright Sera?"
She took the offered mug, careful not to touch him as she fought to get her breathing under control, wrestled with her words for them to form a sentence. Why did it still feel so difficult, Felicia hadn't seemed under this much strain when she'd taken the suppressants, why was she still feeling suffocated?
"I'm fine, I've just got a bit of a headache"
Will tried not to let it bother him, his mind knowing that she was lying to him but not wanting to force her to tell him the truth, he had to trust that she would tell him eventually. He sighed, brushing past her as she flinched away from his slightest touch as he sat at the dining table, noting how she chose to remain at the counter, avoiding eye contact.
He had never had this trouble with Sera before the accident. She had always chosen to state her opinions for anyone and everyone to hear. So why would it be any different now? Her personality hadn't changed, but it was like she just couldn't trust him.
He stopped his thoughts for a moment, a realisation dawning on him as he took the chance to truly study his Omega as she stared out of the kitchen window. She was tense, fidgety and her breathing appeared to be uneven, as if she were trying to conceal the sound of ragged breathing. Carefully, doing his best not to draw her attention towards him of spook her, he took a calculated intake of air through his nose and felt his eye twitch as the answer to her behaviour began to dawn on him.
Her scent, though tainted by the bitterness of chemicals, was stronger than normal. No longer like the enticing campfire he loved, but more like a raging inferno prepared to devour everything in its path, held in check only by the medicine that she appeared to have taken. He clenched his fist beneath the table to restrain his own growing desires. He would wait for her to come to him, would wait for her to be ready.
He took a sip of his coffee, concealing the excitement he felt as he began to make plans in his head. When she was ready, he would make it perfect.
Hey guys, sorry for the delay on this, everything has been manic recently and I just haven't been able to get back into my writing but I'm hoping to fix that in the next few weeks once the mayhem has settled.
Many of you have been wanting more Sera/Will chapters and I fully intend on delivering on that with the next chapters. From Sera's heat to the pair sharing some lovey moments together.
I hope you enjoyed the update and thank you for sticking with the story like you have done.
Much love,
Thecrimsondagger xx
