-Chapter 68-Nationals part 1-

-Rachel pov-

We are finally in New York City! I'm in my dream land! As the bus stops at the hotel I'm quickly standing up. I look and see Kurt is just as excited as me.

When it fully stops we run off the bus and look around. It's just as great as the pictures! I really hope we have time to explore! I stop moving though when I feel a contraction.

I put my hand on my stomach and lean onto Kurt. He holds me up while the contraction hits. This hurts so fucking much! I'm gonna beat the shit out of Finn!

"RACHEL!" I look to see Santana running over "Are you ok?!"

"C-contraction?" My mom nods "What's going on?"

"Braxton Hick" She wraps her arm around me and leads me toward the hotel "We need to get you to the room and a wheelchair"

-Time skip-

After a hour I'm now sitting in a stupid wheelchair. The fake contraction stopped and I'm fine! My family and the club think I need this though. I really don't but I appreciate the love they are giving me.

They really are like a family! Our weird small little family. There's a knock on the door and I wheel to it. I can't peep out so I open it a crack. I smile and open it fully.

"I thought you only had prom out?" The guests walk in "What are you two doing here?"

"We were able to get Nationals out too" Noah smiles and hands me a teddy bear "Wouldn't wanna miss you win"

"I see you boys are still doing good?" We all look at my mom as she walks in "Last time she was alone near you two she ended up like that"

"Mom!" She rolls her eyes and I look at the boys "I'm so sorry about that"

"It's fine Rachel" Finn smiles and turn back toward Shelby "We have been disciplined very well at the academy"

"I'm glad to hear that" Mom walks over to us more "Just remember I can still kill you both"

"Same here" I frown as my hair gets messed with "You doing better sweetie?"

I look up at Santana with a smile "You've gone soft" She playfully glares causing me to chuckle "I'm doing just fine"

"I'm glad to hear that" Lucy walks in and puts a hand on my shoulder "Ready to go to Time Square?"

"Of course!" Everyone laughs at my excitement and I smile "Let's go!"

-Time skip-

Time square is amazing! It's absolutely stunning and all of the performances I'm watching...well some of them are dreadful. Like this singer I'm watching now. They are doing a terrible rendition of Don't rain on my parade.

"Are you not enjoying it Mam?" The lady gives me a glare "It's written on your face"

"I mean you are destroying one of my favorite songs" That earns from chuckles from people "I just think I can do it better!"

For my words I get a microphone shoved at me. I look at the piano player and nod. He starts playing the keys and I smile.

-Rachel singing-

Don't tell me not to live

Just sit and putter

Life's candy and the sun's

A ball of butter

Don't bring around a cloud

To rain on my parade

Don't tell me not to fly

I've simply got to

If someone takes a spill

It's me and not you

Who told you you're allowed

To rain on my parade!

I'll march my band out

I'll beat my drum

And if I'm fanned out

Your turn at bat, sir

At least I didn't fake it

Hat, sir, I guess I didn't make it!

But whether I'm the rose

Of sheer perfection

Or freckle on the nose

Of life's complexion

The cinder or the shiny apple of its eye

I gotta fly once

I gotta try once

Only can die once, right, sir?

Ooh, life is juicy

Juicy, and you'll see

I'm gonna have my bite, sir!

Get ready for me, love

'Cause I'm a "comer"

I simply gotta march

My heart's a drummer

Don't bring around a cloud

To rain on my parade!

I'm gonna live and live now

Get what I want, I know how

One roll for the whole shebang

One throw, that bell will go clang

Eye on the target, and wham

One shot, one gun shot, and bam

Hey, Mister Arnstein, here I am!

I'll march my band out

I will beat my drum

And if I'm fanned out

Your turn at bat, sir

At least I didn't fake it

Hat, sir, I guess I didn't make it

Get ready for me, love

'Cause I'm a "comer"

I simply gotta march

My heart's a drummer

Nobody, no, nobody

Is gonna rain on my parade!

The crowd applauds and the lady snarls "I'm a Broadway tryout!" She steps toward me "Who are you?! You are a no one! You'll be a no one for the rest of you life!"

"She's not a no one" Santana and Lucy step in front of me with the club stepping forward "She's a someone and she's going to be on Broadway no matter what! You're the one that will never be there! You said tryout right? Why do you think yo I haven't made it?! You suck! You obviously can't sing for shit idiot!"

"You think you're better?" She smirks "Why don't you sing Chica?"

"Excellent idea" Santana grabs the mic and walks to the piano man "Let's switch the norm piano man"

-Santana singing-

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday

The regular crowd shuffles in

There's an old man sitting next to me

Making love to his tonic and gin

He says, "Son can you play me a memory

I'm not really sure how it goes

But it's sad and it's sweet

And I knew it complete

When I wore a younger man's clothes."

Sing us a song you're the piano man

Sing us a song tonight

Well we're all in the mood for a melody

And you've got us feeling alright

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine

He gets me my drinks for free

And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke

But there's someplace that he'd rather be

He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me."

As a smile ran away from his face

"Well, I'm sure that I could be a movie star

If I could get out of this place."

Now Paul is a real estate novelist

Who never had time for a wife

And he's talking with Davy, who's still in the Navy

And probably will be for life

And the waitress is practicing politics

As the businessmen slowly get stoned

Yes they're sharing a drink they call "Loneliness"

But it's better than drinking alone

Sing us a song you're the piano man

Sing us a song tonight

Well we're all in the mood for a melody

And you've got us feeling alright

It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday

And the manager gives me a smile

'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see

To forget about life for a while

And the piano it sounds like a carnival

And the microphone smells like a beer

And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar

And say, "Man, what are you doing here?"

Sing us a song you're the piano man

Sing us a song tonight

Well we're all in the mood for a melody

And you've got us feeling alright

The crowd erupts again and the lady growls. She starts walking toward Santana but gets stopped. The glare Judy sends her is paralyzing. Like it's scaring me from moving.

"I'd advise you to step away" The lady takes a frightened step back "Don't ever...EVER! Step toward my family again!"

"Cause a chica might get cut" Maribel cracks her knuckles "I know how to do it to"

"You're crazy!" The lady runs away "YOU'RE ALL CRAZY!"

The crowd claps and we wave "Very entertaining" A man steps forward in a suit "You belong to one of the clubs performing tomorrow right?"

"We do?" Shelby steps up "Why?"

"My girlfriend is from Ohio" He reaches in his jacket and pulls out a photo "We got tickets for the competition! Wou-would I be able to get a group performance? I'm sure everyone would love to hear one!"

The crowd agrees and we huddle up. We go over some songs and take one to the piano man. He nods and starts to play. I look over at Finn and Noah. They nod and step up to the club.

-Finn-Rachel-Puck-Santana-:Santana and Puck:-Group does back up like how they have sung it)-'Kurt'-;Finn and Kurt;-[All]

Just a small town girl

Livin' in a lonely world

She took the midnight train goin' anywhere

Just a city boy

Born and raised in South Detroit

He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

A singer in a smokey room

A smell of wine and cheap perfume

:For a smile they can share the night

It goes on and on and on and on:

Strangers waiting

Up and down the boulevard

Their shadows searchin' in the night

Streetlight, people

Livin' just to find emotion

Hidin' somewhere in the night

'Workin' hard to get my fill

Everybody wants a thrill'

;Payin' anythin' to roll the dice

Just one more time;

Some will win, :some will lose

Some are born to sing the blues:

;And now the movie never ends

It goes on and on and on and on;

:Strangers waiting

Up and down the boulevard

Their shadows searchin' in the night:

Streetlight, people

Livin' just to find emotion

Hidin' somewhere in the night

Everyone is getting into it! TIME SQUARE IS ALIVE! WE WRE MAKING IT ALIVE! WE ARE MAKING ALL OF THESE PEOPLE SO HAPPY!

[Don't stop believin']

:Hold on to that feelin':

[Streetlight, people]

[Don't stop believin']

;Hold on to that feelin';

[Streetlight, people]

[Don't stop!]

Everyone claps as we take our bows. They really loved us! I look up and see some electric boards showing us! I AM ON A BILLBOARD! I wish I looked better for my debut.

"You see you on your debut?" I nod and Santana kisses my cheek "You look so beautiful up there babe"

"Thanks" I give her a big kiss "I love you"

The rest of our time square trip is almost spent getting praise. If this is how fame feels...I SO DO NOT WANT IT TO EVER STOP! I LOVE THIS!

I've had two little girls say they wanna be me! THEY WANT TO BE ME! I am a freaking future dream for two girls! This is my dreams come true. Which makes me a little worried.

Any time we have something good happen something bad follows. It's almost like a habit for our family. We have tried to make it not stick but it always does. We really want to just have one good year.

So I am a little cautious the rest of our tour. When we get back to the hotel I stay cautious. Better safe then sorry. It's never to bad to be over cautious. Today's just been too good in my opinion.

"Nothing is going to happen" I jump and look back at Lucy "I know you've been on edge"

"It's not good for the baby" I jump again and turn toward Santana "Stress can be very negative"

"So is scaring the pregnant girl!" They both roll their eyes and I sigh "We never get this much luck and happiness! Something bad always happens! It's our curse!"

"We know but please" Lucy starts to rub my shoulders "Relax ok? We are in New York!"

"Lucy is right" Santana gets on the ground and removes my shoes "Why don't we pamper you tonight?"

"You will hear no complaints here" They both chuckle "Let's get to the bed"

They help me onto the bed and I relax. The rest of the night is spent on relaxing. It is spent in absolute amazing bliss. I couldn't have asked for a better night.

I hope tomorrow is just as good.
