Everyone smiled softly as JJ walked in with the tray of coffees and set it down on the table. "Thanks, JJ" they all murmured as they each grabbed a cup and took a cautious sip before continuing to talk about the case at hand. They didn't really have a lot to work on and were only bouncing senseless ideas around the room, so Hotch told technology extraordinaire, Penelope Garcia, to go and commandeer a couple of computers and pull up the security footage of the previous night. With a quick nod and a quiet "yes sir" Garcia made her way out of the small conference room to the head of the SWAT Team, Agent Dexter, and was quickly able to seize a small office on the other side of the floor with a couple of computers. They were nothing like the computers she was used to in her "lair" as she called it on the sixth floor, but they were sophisticated enough to do the job and she had worked with worse computers when she had been out in the field with the team.

Working quickly, Garcia pulled up the footage from the previous night and watched it at 1.5 speed. Unfortunately though, she didn't see anything after JJ left at 11:31pm as time-stamped on the CCTV. Nothing at all. She didn't even see the security guard come onto the floor to do his job and check for any signs of anything going wrong. Just as Garcia was about to walk back to the conference room to report what she had - or hadn't as the case would seem - seen, something on the screen caught her eye. Slowly, she sat back down at the computer and re-watched the footage at normal speed as she pulled her cell out of her pocket and called Derek Morgan quickly. Again, she didn't see anything happen after JJ left at 11:31pm, not even the security guard entering the department to do his job. Nothing at all until 2:07am.

"What have you got for me princess?" Morgan asked as he walked into the computer lab that Garcia was using, making her jump slightly in her chair. She spun around in her swivel chair to face her 'Chocolate Adonis' with a confused look on her face. "I don't really know how to explain it..." she said softly as she spun back around to face her computers, clicking a few buttons and getting the computers to replay the footage once again. Sitting down next to Garcia, Morgan watched the screens intently; seeing exactly the same as Garcia had the previous times she had watched the video tape alone. "What was that?" he asked once the video had finished. "Can you play it again?" Garcia nodded her head softly, restarting the footage once again.

After watching the recording for a second time, Morgan asked Garcia to send it to the computer in the conference room the BAU were using and made his way back to him team. He was leaving the blonde tech goddess with instructions to watch the CCTV from 8:00pm the previous night: the time the profilers had left the premises. He could have told her to go back earlier and look at all the footage for the day before, but it would have most likely been futile. While JJ was shut away in her office all day working on files, the profilers - well Prentiss, Morgan and Reid - were sat in the bullpen: Hotch and Rossi were almost always working alone in their respective offices. There was no way somebody would have been able to get into the BAU before 8:00pm without somebody noticing. However, after everyone had left it was possible somebody may have been able to get in without JJ noticing them.

Thirty minutes later, the whole team had seen the first tape three times, each time seeing the same thing, and the footage from 8:00pm a single time. Nothing had happened after 8:00pm either, though. The only movement that had been recorded was JJ walking around the bullpen at 10:45pm to distribute the case files for the team to do preliminary profiles for the following day; and her leaving and switching off the lights at 11:31. Without a word, Hotch left the office and stalked his way over to Agent Dexter, informing him that he needed to speak to the head of security immediately. It was possible that the whole situation could have been avoided if Officer McNeil had checked the floor as he was supposed to. Such a violation of protocol needed to be reported and the relevant personnel reprimanded. Hotch was furious!

The profilers were witnessing themselves laughing and leaving the bullpen for the night for the fourth time with intent looks on their faces, when Reid stopped them suddenly. "Play it again" he requested "zoom in on the door leading to the kitchen and play it from 9:55pm."

From the computers in the other room where she was still working, Garcia quickly rewound the recording and carefully zoomed in the requested door, fast forwarding until 9:55pm and hitting play. "What did you see?" JJ asked quietly, feeling sick to her stomach that something had possibly happened whilst she had been busily working in her office, but she hadn't seen anything.

"I'm not too sure to be honest" was Reid's hushed response as he kept his eyes glued to the monitor as it replayed the video, confirming he had seen something. All turning their heads, the profilers watched in horror as they witnessed on the zoomed-in recording, a small dark figure moved from the window to the counter and back again, before disappearing and not being seen again. Rossi quickly pulled out his phoned and called Hotch who was still with the head of security.

"Hotch, you need to come back and see this. It looks like something might have been missed by the security guy last night."

Putting his phone away again, he turned back to the computer screens. "Do we have any other angles of the kitchen, Garcia?" he asked, already knowing the answer was no.
