*WARNING*

I DO NOT OWN HETALIA

"..What." Amelia stared at her parents, not believing a word that came out of their mouths. They wanted her to do.. What now?

"You heard us. You're going to be marrying the Braginski's son, Ivan. It's the only way to end the rivalry between our families."

"You want me. To marry him?" Amelia repeated slowly. "Him? What? No! I'm not marrying him! I'm only 18! That's insane, mom!"

Amelia's mother sighed, gently taking her daughter's hand. "Honey, there's nothing else we can do." Even though her voice was normally sweet and somewhat teasing, right now it sounded firm. Like there Amelia had no other choice.

"What about Mattie?! Surely he can marry their daughter or something!"

"You're our oldest, Amelia. You have to do it. Plus, their oldest daughter is already married." Her father explained. Amelia sighed, staring at them once again.

"But do I really have to-"

"Yes, you do," Her father said, sighing. "End of story. Both of you will be meeting this Friday, so prepare yourself."

"-And be polite, Amelia! We're counting on you to bring our families together." Her mother chimed in. Amelia, realizing she wasn't gonna get out of this, slowly nodded.

"..Fine. Can I leave now?" When her parents nodded, Amelia shot up and speed-walked down the hall into her twin brother's room. She looked fine, but inside her mind she was panicking beyond all reason. So, she did the only sensible thing she could think of.

"MATTIE! I need our savings. Now." Amelia announced, practically bursting the door down to Matthew's room. Matthew shot up at the loud noise, glaring at Amelia and adjusting his glasses.

"How many times have I told you not to do that- Wait, what? Why would you need money?"

"I'm running away from home," Amelia explained, trying to reach the top of the closet. After a few moments of trying to reach the top shelf with her tip-toes, she looked back at Matthew. "A little help please? Sheesh, why did you put it on the very top shelf?"

"Because I knew at some point you would try taking my savings and probably go waste it all on chips," Matthew mumbled, gently leading her away from the closet and closing the door. "And I'm not giving it to you until you tell me why you're running away from home."

"You know the stupid Braginskis that live across from us? And you know how they have that son that we like, never see ever?" At Matthew's nod, Amelia continued. "Okay, so Mom and Dad's solution to fixing our family rivalry is to make me marry him! How stupid is that?!"

"..I don't really see anything wrong with it. He seems like a nice guy."

"maTTHEW!"

"What?"

"You're supposed to be on my side! You're my little brother!"

"Actually, I'm older-"

"Well if you were the older one, Mom and Dad would be forcing you to marry their younger sister instead of me! That doesn't sound so lovely, now does it?!" Matthew made a face, then nodded.

"Oh yeah. You're right. But seriously Amelia, you need to calm down. You've barely even talked to the guy."

"Exactly! And now they want me to marry him!" Amelia exclaimed, pacing around the room. Matthew facepalmed and put his hands on her shoulders firmly to stop her.

"That's not what I meant. I *meant* that you might end up liking him. Just give him a chance before you steal all my money and run away to Europe." Amelia glared at Matthew, but considered what he said. He did have a point..

"..No."

"Amelia."

"No!"

"Ami this isn't a question," Matthew sighed, "It's a go do it. And if anything goes wrong, I'll beat him up for you. Husband or not," He reassured with a smile. Of course Matthew was lying, but it seemed to make Amelia feel better.

"But you have to let me watch."

"Deal." Matthew nodded and let go of Amelia. The shorter groaned and flopped onto Matthew's bed, accidentally closing the book that was lying there (much to his annoyance).

"I have exactly one week of freedom before I get married to some stupid Russian."

"Amelia, that's rude," Matthew pointed out, sitting next to her and trying to refind the place in his book. "You have to think positively."

"You're one to speak," Amelia scoffed, crossing her arms and staring at the ceiling angrily. "I guess I better live life to the fullest before it becomes undoubtedly boring. Mattie, tomorrow we're robbing a bank."

"In your dreams."

"I- You what?!" Ivan asked frantically, sitting up immediately. "Why her?! Out of everyone in this world, why would you make me marry her?! She's crazy!"

Ivan's mother sighed and hid her face in her hands. "Ivan, we've been over this. When it comes to situations like this, you have no choice. Those Kirklands want to bring our two families together after decades of fighting, and this was the only way we could do it. So stop complaining."

"But-"

"No buts. You're meeting her on Friday, that is all. You may leave now."

"But Mother, I-"

"I said no buts!" She snapped back, crossing her arms. Then she pointed towards the door. "As I was saying, you may leave. Remember, Friday."

Ivan stared at her for a few moments, then sighed and went upstairs to his room. Oh god, what was he gonna do! He couldn't stand that dumb girl! She was always so loud, and so arrogant, and so self-absorbed and- Ugh, she was such a nuisance! And now Ivan was expected to marry her?! No way!

The teen groaned and grabbed the violin sitting at the foot of his bed, playing a short song to calm down. He had no idea what to do. He knew he couldn't disobey his mother, and honestly he wanted the rivalry between the two families to end, but..

"Nyet, I'm not marrying her. Never in a million years.." Ivan muttered determinedly to himself with a nod. "I should just.. I should.." He trailed off, putting his violin down as he thought about it. "I don't actually know.. But I should do something!"

Ivan sat down on his bed and put his head in his hands, humming as he thought. He had no idea what to do, actually. But he knew for a fact that he wasn't gonna let this marriage proceed.

Actually, both Ivan and Amelia knew something. They both knew that they were gonna make their parents call this wedding off, even if it was the last thing the both of them did.

so uh, hi. i got this idea a few months ago, but i didn't write the first chapter until now. well, it's written now so yay!
i highly doubt i'll finish this fic to the end, but whatever. i'll continue it for as long as i can before getting bored, and that's all that matters to me.

-a few cool facts about this bc i can:
- i came up with this idea in march of 2020
- america was originally supposed to be a boy, but i made him nyo at the last moment because plot
- speaking of which, i see a lot of
nyo!canada and brother america and those fics are adorable but almost no nyo!america brother canada fluff which is really disappointing D: we need more of both tbh
- america and canada's parents were originally not supposed to be any specific characters, but i decided to make the mom nyo!france and the dad england at the last moment bc i can
- i tried to be sneaky and add a twist to this story but i'm like, 100% sure someone has already done what i'm trying to do
- cereal is cold soup
