WARNING: I do not own Hetalia
Chapter 3
"That. Was. Awful." Amelia announced once they finally went home, crossing her arms. "I'm never talking to him again."
"Amelia..." Her mother sighed, glancing at her as they neared their house, "You know you can't, chère. Please just try to-"
"No!" Amelia yelled once they were inside and she was allowed to raise her voice, "I don't want to 'try' anything! I hate him, Mama! I hate everything about his stupid face and his stupid personality and- And I hate him! He's a stupid bastard-like asshole!"
"Amelia! Take that all back right this instant!" Her father snapped, sending her a look "You have to marry him, whether you like it or not-"
"And I'm saying I WON'T! You can't make me marry someone as horrible as him!" She shouted, storming off to her room and slamming the door. The other three still left in the room—Amelia's mother, father and Matthew, stared down the hall she disappeared off to silently.
"...Should I go see if she's okay-?" Matthew started, but was cut off by his mother placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Non, it's fine, Matthieu. She needs time to cool off."
Amelia groaned, flopping onto her bed and reaching for her pillow to scream in. Why were her parents so- so pushy about this?! Who cares if they wanted to 'fix the relationship between the Kirklands and the Braginskis' or whatever, they were awful people! They were eerily quiet, and so passive-aggressively rude, (Like Matthew, just somehow even more aggressive, Amelia noticed) and just plain awful! Especially that dumb Braginski boy. She absolutely loathed that stupid smug undertone he had whenever he spoke to her. Like- Like he thought he was better than her or something. He was just plain awful.
Amelia suddenly sat up, scowling at the window as if it was it's fault she was feeling this way. She needed a way to let out this anger before it started driving her insane. She didn't want to talk to Matthew about it, because as well as he meant, he would probably just tell her to listen to her parents, even though they were clearly wrong. Suddenly, she glanced at her phone. Right, she could just call Sakura!
Sakura and Amelia had been friends for basically their whole lives. Amelia couldn't exactly remember when, but she knew Sakura still remembered the day they met vividly. According to her, it had been the first day of preschool and Sakura had been terrified out of her mind. She and Amelia were sat next to each other at snack time, and Amelia did everything in her power to make the smaller girl feel better and stop crying. (like a hero!) From that day on, supposedly, they'd been stuck together like glue.
And so, Amelia dialled in Sakura's number, frowning at her nails as she waited for her to answer. It took a couple rings, but eventually she heard a soft "Hello?" on the other end of the line.
"Saks! Like, yo, it's me," Amelia said, breaking into a grin. (Or what could be loosely described as a grin. It was too small to be a full-on grin but too big to be a smile)
"Oh, hi Amelia. What's wrong? You sound stressed." Sakura's voice came out of the other line, concerned. The blonde sighed, laying back down again.
"You know how like, the other day I told you my parents were making me marry that stupid Ivan guy?" She waited for Sakura's hum of acknowledgement before continuing. "Okay, so like, get this. I went to meet him today, and he was being an absolute ass! Like, he said that I was stubborn and shit—which I'm not—and when I tried leaving Mattie like, made me stay and talk to him or whatever! It was awful, dude." She complained, whining a little.
Sakura was silent for a moment, thinking. "Amelia... I hate to admit it, but you can be a bit stubborn when it comes to things like this..."
"So you're agreeing with my family?!"
"No, of course not! It isn't okay for them to force you into something you don't want to do." Sakura clarified, going silent again as she thought of what to say next. "But have you given him a chance...?"
"Why should I give him a chance? I hate him." Amelia said, frowning. She heard sighing from the other end.
"No, I mean like... Maybe you should at least try to be his friend. Get to know him first before you make any assumptions. You don't have to be romantic, of course, but you should at least try to get on a friendly basis with him. And maybe if you both are friends, you can help each other find a way out of this. Make an alliance." Amelia thought about it, shrugging
"It isn't a bad idea... But there's no way in hell I'm gonna try being friends with him. Sak, if I do that then it's gonna look like I'm giving in! I can't allow that!"
"Amy, that's probably the only way you can get out of this without brute force. And I don't want you to take that path in case someone gets hurt, whether it be physically or emotionally."
"..." Amelia just sighed. Sakura was right, wasn't she? "...I'll try."
Even though the blonde couldn't see her friend, she could tell that Sakura was smiling a little. "Thank you, Amelia. All you have to do is to try being a bit more friendly to him the next time you see him. Maybe not even friendly, but just polite."
"Alright, I'll work on it. I should probably go now, it's getting late. I'll see you 'morrow at school, 'kay?"
"Of course. Goodnight, Amy."
"Night, Sak. I love ya."
"Love you too. Platonically, of course." She said softly, hanging up the phone. Amelia waited a moment to make sure Sakura had hung up, blushing ever so slightly and plugging her phone in her charger. She really didn't want to try being nice to the Russian. Not in the slightest. But if it made Sakura happy, then... Maybe. Sure, fine, she'll give it a try.
On the other side of the door, Matthew was listening quietly. He had only gone over to his sister's room to see if she was okay, and he'd only been able to catch the last few sentences of their conversation, but it was enough for him to know that Amelia had calmed down and was actually turning over a new leaf, which was surprising. Still, he figured, it was a welcomed change.
And so, he smiled softly to himself and quietly walked back down the hall to his room, going as silent as possible so Amelia didn't know he was there and get the wrong idea about him spying on her conversations or anything like that.
yep. i'm back. and i'm probably gonna disappear right after this
to be honest, i really like this fanfiction. probably because it's my newest and therefore the one that i think has the best writing, but still-
i'm really gonna try updating this more often, especially since i'm getting back into writing and since i already have the entire plot written out in my head, it makes things a lot easier
actually, now that i said that my brain's gonna default of not coming back to this until like, 5 years later, isn't it? but i just said i would, so is that reverse-jinxing it? i dunno, whatever
ALSO- i've changed my name from 'some random canadian' to halazooni, so if you were wondering why my pen name is different or something you know why
hope you enjoyed this chapter! please r&r!
