ACT 1 - SCENE SET 2
INT./EXT. - EMILY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT - SCENE 2.1
START SCENE
Emily was no fool. She was a trained spy. She knew when she was being watched.
She had almost grown used to Ian's constant presence whenever she arrived home. She wondered if he truly thought she hadn't noticed that distinct car appearing over and over again. What she hadn't been counting on, however, was Rossi and Hotch joining the party.
She knew Rossi had called her fake old boss, Reston, but surveilling her was a serious escalation. However, if they felt they needed to stalk her, that meant Derek hadn't yet told Hotch the truth. It had been three days since they'd arrived home from Tennessee and the Bureau had given them all some well deserved time off after several cases in a row.
Emily had spent the nearly entirety of it in her home, knowing that any attempt to meet with Clyde, Tsia, and Sean, who were all now in the country, would set off alarm bells - she had solely been worried about Ian, but now she realized Hotch and Rossi were tracking her movements too. When she bent down to pick up her keys, she could almost feel Ian's piercing gaze on her and it made her shudder. She hurried inside, not wanting to give either team of stalkers anymore of a show.
She knew it was futile however, Ian already had made his way to her apartment before. She was constantly terrified that one of these days she would walk in, and he'd be inside and greet her with a gunshot. She had spent hours mulling over his intentions, yet she could not quite figure it out.
If his plan was to murder her, to get revenge for Declan's believed death, why hadn't he done it the night he accosted her at her door? He literally had had his hand around her throat. Why didn't he finish the job?
What would these photos do for him, except fulfill some pervacious fantasy? On the other hand, did that work to her advantage, him still lusting after her? She needed to figure him out, and fast.
She figured she would play his game. But first, she needed Hotch and Rossi to leave. She parked herself at her window and waited.

INT. / EXT. ROSSI AND HOTCH'S CAR - SCENE 2.2
START SCENE
Hotch was extremely unnerved by their company. He didn't know who would be surveilling Prentiss, but whatever this was couldn't be good. Whatever Prentiss was involved with just got a lot more complicated.
Rossi: We should get out of here.
Hotch: Agreed. Snap a picture of the guys if you can.
Rossi nodded. Hotch pulled the car out and slowly drove past, hoping the other men wouldn't notice. Rossi managed to capture an image of Doyle and Liam.

INT./EXT. IAN'S CAR SCENE 2.3
START SCENE
Luckily for them, Doyle was gazing right at Emily's window, waiting for a glimpse of her, missing the drive by completely. A few times, he had been lucky enough to catch her moving the curtains aside and standing at the window, looking out, usually holding a glass of deep red wine. For some reason, knowing Lauren and Emily shared the affinity for the drink comforted him.

INT. EMILY'S APARTMENT SCENE 2.4
START SCENE
Back upstairs, Emily took notice when Hotch and Rossi left, her heart skipping a beat when they drove directly past Ian. She could only hope they hadn't noticed each other. Now, it was time for her to make her move and play right into his game.
She darted out the backstairs of the building and walked around the block, approaching Ian's car from behind.

EXT. THE STREET - SCENE 2.5
START SCENE
Gun tucked in the back of her jeans, she rapped on the rear window. She pulled her gun out and aimed in a way that it was tucked under her coat so he couldn't see, but still gave her the ability to take a keen shot to a rather sensitive area of his if she needed to. Ian's head jerked up at the sudden sound.
There she was, standing right at his car's window. He was shocked to see her confront him. Had she known he was here this whole time?
If Ian's confidence was damaged, he hid it well. Ian flashed her a macabre smile and rolled down the window.
Ian: Hello, love.
Emily: What do you want, Ian?
Ian: No hello? Not even for Liam?
Liam snorted. He had known something was up with her from the start, knew his boss was too blinded with rose colored glasses to see through her deception originally. This little cat and mouse game they'd been playing recently was growing tired and he couldn't see the reason in waiting around, watching her rather than just landing a bullet between her eyes.
He suspected Ian had been to the apartment without him, and had made some mistake that had allowed her to be aware of his presence. As much as his boss would deny it, Ian was a fool when it came to Lauren Reynolds, Emily Prentiss, whatever. Ian glared back at his accomplice.
Ian: Well?
Emily crossed her arms. She wasn't going to play into this part of his game, the creepy innuendos and flirting. She merely wanted him to know she knew he was there, and to suss out his plans.
If she was good at anything, it was getting Ian Doyle to give up his secrets to her. Granted, it had been easier when he thought her his devoted fiancee rather than undercover Interpol operative. Emily flashed him a smirk.
Emily, menace dripping from her words: What. Do. You. Want.
Ian: You, love. Don't worry- not today. But soon.
Emily: I've got a glock leveled at your crotch. What's stopping me from taking you and the little ones out, right now?
Ian chuckled. She was always one for dramatics. He took this moment to slowly exit the car.
Emily refused to step back to allow him space, so when he stood up, leaning against the car, their bodies were almost flush together. Ian looked at her, taking note of the ponytail she'd been wearing of late. His hands reached around her head to grasp two strands of her near black hair, tugging at them, tightening the ponytail to the crown of her head.
She gulped at his touch, the peculiar gesture deeply unsettling.
Ian: You'd never make it back to your flat and you know it.
Liam rolled his eyes. Just do it already! At this point, he almost didn't care which one of them killed the other, as long as it ended.
This was getting ridiculous. Emily tried to mask her uncomfort, but Ian saw right through her facade. Ian smiled, pleased her plan to confront him had backfired, leaving her more scared than when she arrived.
Ian: You took the only thing that mattered to me.
Emily closed her eyes. He didn't have to elaborate for her to know what he was referring to. Declan.
Emily rotated her head to avoid his gaze.
Emily, looking up the street, refusing to meet his eyes: I was doing my job.
Ian scoffed.
Ian, taking hold of her waist harshly: I think you did a little more than that, love.
He barked "love" at her as if it was a curse. Emily attempted to jerk her body away, but he only tightened his grip, acting incredibly bold with a woman who had a gun in her hands. It was as if he knew she wouldn't pull the trigger.
She had all but told him so much that night at her doorstep when he gave her several opportunities to kill him, yet she didn't.
Ian: You've had some stressful cases lately, haven't you, love?
Emily didn't respond, processing the fact that he was not just stalking her, but her career as well. He traced a calloused finger along her jawline.
Ian: Nashville was not stressful then? Or what about California? I saw your little TV appearance.
Ian, whispering directly in her ear: You looked so nice, love.
Emily recoiled away from him. Ian let out a wicked laugh, enjoying her discomposure. He shifted a fly away strand of hair away from her face.
Ian: You seem stressed.
Emily, hissing at him: I'm not.
Ian: I'm only expressing my concern for you, love.
This made Emily laugh. Ian was taken aback by her laughter, and accidentally released his grip on her waist.
Emily: Your concern for me? Ian Doyle, maybe I should've written "jokester" in my profile.
Ian rolled his eyes.
Ian: That team of yours, have you told them your fiance is in town?
Emily rolled her eyes. Of course he would call himself her fiance. It was a hallmark of his profile- Ian was deeply possessive of everything he had, and that included people.
His misguided view of family probably came from his lack of it growing up. Emily had always wondered- had Ian had a different youth, would he be different? The concept was a debate all profilers contended with daily and were intimately familiar with.
Nature or Nurture?
Emily: They know nothing.
Ian: Keep it that way. They're innocent. You are not. We'll see if it stays that way.
Emily, gritting her teeth: You even go near my team and I will destroy you.
Ian smiled.
Ian: Goodnight, love.
Emily bit her lip. She knew she should end it now, but she knew his threat of retaliating was real, having felt the gun on his hip when he pulled her to him. Also, she wasn't exactly prepared to explain a shooting to metropolitan police tonight.
Or Hotch. Especially Hotch. She hated following Ian's directive, but she knew her only choice was to admit defeat in this part of the game and retreat to her apartment.
He'd won this round, but give her some more time, and she would manage a way to get ahead of him.
Emily: Goodnight, Ian.
She took a step backwards, before turning on her heel and heading up into her building for the second time that evening. Ian watched her intensely as she went back upstairs. When she was safely inside, he turned back around to Liam.
Ian, surprisingly chipper: Well, that was exciting wasn't it?
Liam shook his head.
Liam: You're ridiculous.
Ian chuckled, and started the car, driving off into the night.
