ACT 4 - SCENE SET 5
INT. MORGAN'S APARTMENT - SCENE 5.1
START SCENE
Rossi: So some person came into your place, no sign of forced entry, took nothing, did nothing except shoot at a picture of us.
Hotch peered at the photo again.
Hotch: Not us. Emily and Morgan.
Hotch: Robbery wasn't a motive. Emily is. See how the shot is at her heart- subconsciously or not, she's at the center of the unsub's rage.
Morgan: Unsub? We think this more than some random home invasion?
Rossi: It would be a hell of a coincidence. Hey, look. Morgan, you're the only one making direct contact with Prentiss.
Hotch: What if the man who was watching her did this?
Morgan: Why?
Hotch: Maybe he saw you too. When you two had…
Morgan: A night together.
Hotch chuckled.
Rossi: That's one way to put it. Why would someone spying on Prentiss be angry with Morgan?
Hotch: Because whoever her stalker is,... is in love with her. Morgan is a threat to that.
Rossi: Emily has an obsessional stalker.
Morgan: But we already profiled that he has to do with her CIA history.
Hotch: We need to bring Garcia in. We need to identify him.
Morgan shook his head.
Morgan: What the hell is she wrapped up in?

INT. SITUATION ROOM - SCENE 5.2
START SCENE
Sitting around a long, rectangular table were the foremost leaders of the United States, including the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and of course, National Security Advisor Harrison Prentiss. Sean McAllister actually sat next to the man, knowing he was Emily's father and knowing he had no idea his daughter had been in the CIA, no idea he was about to watch an operation to take down the man who'd sold out his child to her biggest enemy. He figured he didn't want to be seated next to the man when he discovered the government he worked for had all but prostituted his only child out to one of the world's most dangerous men.
Sean decided to change seats. Good timing too, because he was already standing when the President entered the room. Sean had met some important people in his work, but the President of the United States was a first.
The President acknowledged the room, then took his seat at the head of the table. Sean sat too. Shortly after, a video feed appeared on the large screen.
A group of agents entered the home, clearing each room one by one. Then, the room of observing officials and the agents collectively noticed something. A body on the ground of the living room.
The lead agent turned to face the discrete video camera.
Agent (via video comm): It looks like someone got here before us. Wolff is dead.
The room sighed. It wasn't terrible- but now, their best lead on the location and plans of an international criminal was gone.

INT. /EXT. IAN'S CAR OUTSIDE OF A SUBURBAN HOUSE - SCENE 5.3
START SCENE
Ian was waiting in the car for Liam to finish up with the Fagans. He didn't need to get his hands dirty on this one- it was too easy. He instead let his mind drift back to a memory.

FLASHBACK - INT. IAN'S BEDROOM IN THE TUSCAN VILLA - Morning - SCENE 5.4
START SCENE
Lauren hovered over him as he laid on their bed, her espresso curls tumbling over her bare shoulders and his hands ran up her back. They both leaned into kiss after kiss, interrupted only by her giggles. Then, a small voice.
Declan: Daddy?
Lauren's eyes widened and she quickly rolled off of him, covering herself with the sheets.
Ian: Dec, what's up?
Declan: Can we have pancakes for breakfast?
Ian: Whatever you want, kiddo.
Declan smiled and darted out of the room, probably chasing downstairs to tell Louise his pancake proposal had been accepted. Ian turned to Lauren, and the pair burst out laughing.
Lauren: Do you think he saw anything? Do you think he's scarred for life?
Ian shrugged.
Ian, smiling: We need to start locking that door, that's for sure.
Lauren smiled and the two of them resumed their previous activities.

INT./EXT. - IAN'S CAR OUTSIDE OF A SUBURBAN HOUSE - SCENE 5.5
START SCENE
The once humorous memory was now scarred. How could she so easily fake those moments? She must be one hell of an actress.
It made him think. Was he the first man she'd lured in that way? He shuddered, the thought made him sick.
How had those two women existed within the same body? Ian thought the worst part of it all was Declan. Declan had loved the woman who'd grown to be his surrogate mother, he'd trusted her.
How terrified must he'd been when that gun was pointed at him? Ian couldn't even reconcile how she'd been able to subject a child to that. It didn't make sense.
He knew Lauren would never have done that, but his knowledge of Emily was more limited. Still, from what he had learned about her- former CIA agent, now FBI profiler, raised by wealthy high ranking government officials all over the world- he wouldn't have pegged her as capable of killing a child, even by proxy. It just didn't make sense.
END SCENE
INT. EMILY'S APARTMENT - SCENE 5.6
START SCENE
Emily paced back and forth. Ian's car still wasn't back- which was more concerning than it being there. If he wasn't stalking her, what was he doing?
She wasn't the only one on his list. Had he hurt someone else? Emily decided she could no longer ignore her old team.
She also now had a healthy supply of burners, picking them up over the last few days from discrete sellers, using cash only. Emily didn't know if the number she had was current, but she knew Tsia's patterns for phone numbers well enough. Emily dialed.
She waited as the phone rang. Once, then twice and continuously to the point where it was clear what Tsia's answer was: No answer. Emily tried every number she knew for Tsia.
Same thing each time. She made another call - but not to Tsia.
Clyde (via phone): Nice to hear from you, darling.
Emily: Is Tsia with you?
Clyde: Not for a few hours - why?
Emily: Where was she?
Clyde: She was going to Corelli's. You know how he is, he probably made her dump any phone she had before coming in.
Emily, reassured: Of course. Neurotic fellow, isn't he?
Clyde: Most definitely. He's got reason to be, though.
Emily: I'll say. Where's Sean?
Clyde: Your old job I think.
Emily: Langley? CIA's looking for Ian?
Clyde: Only them and every agency in the western hemisphere. And you know, us. By the way, Doyle's been
Emily cut him off.
Emily: Watching me, I know. You have any idea who could have leaked my identity?
Clyde: I think that's what Sean's getting into at Langley. Hey, you know what's been bugging me?
Emily: What?
Clyde: Where's Jeremy?
Emily: He's not here? With Tsia being here I just assumed…
Clyde: I did too. Apparently, he stayed behind.
Emily: That's… unexpected.
Clyde: You know what I think about him.
Emily: Just because he's not your cup of tea, doesn't mean he's a traitor. You Brits are too picky about your tea. Jeremy's fine.
Clyde: Yeah, well, I don't trust the guy. Never have.
Emily sighed.
Emily: How did Ian even get out of Russia?
Clyde: Russia? He was in China.
Emily: No… Russia,
Clyde: Wasn't Russia, I swear.
Emily: I have my files with me. Russia.
Clyde: I've got mine! China.
Emily: You're wrong, but fine. Tell Sean to check on Jeremy's location. And ask him where Ian was! He'll say
Clyde interrupted her.
Clyde: China!
Emily rolled her eyes. She wasn't wrong, Clyde was.

INT. MORGAN'S PLACE - SCENE 5.7
START SCENE
Hotch (on the phone): Ok, Garcia-see you then.
Morgan: Case?
Hotch nodded.
Morgan: We're off.
Rossi shrugged.
Rossi: Serial Killers don't take time off, neither do we.
Morgan groaned.
Hotch: Oh, and Garcia,
Garcia (via phone): Uh huh?
Hotch: I'm going to send you a photo. Run it, see if you get any hits. But send anything you get directly to me. Don't tell anyone, especially Prentiss.
Garcia (via phone): Can I ask why?
Hotch: I'm sorry.
Garcia (via phone): Okey doke.
END SCENE
INT./EXT. EMILY'S CAR - SCENE 5.8
START SCENE
Emily is driving, with her phone tucked between her shoulder and ear.
Emily: Sean? What's up?
Sean: Clyde told me to call you. Can you talk? I need to tell you something.
Emily: Is it serious? I'm driving.
Sean: Where are you headed? It's about Doyle.
Emily: Of course. I got called in on a case.
Sean: Ah, yes the BAU.
Emily: Sean, what is it?
Sean: Well, I was just in the White House.
Emily: What? Why?
Sean: Situation Room with the NSC. Doyle is a major threat.
Emily's eyes widened. The NSC? Did that mean her parents knew everything?
Sean: I know what you're thinking. He doesn't know, your dad.
Emily: I thought-
Sean: We were looking for the traitor. We found him.
Emily: Who was it?
Sean: Jeremy
Emily's heart dropped. Clyde was right. Oh, poor Tsia.
Sean: Prentiss, you there?
Emily: Are you sure? How- how did you know?
Sean: We gave each of us on the team a different location for Doyle's imprisonment, that way if he got out, we'd know who helped him.
Oh. That explained China too.
Emily: Wait, so where was Ian really then?
Sean cringed.
Sean: I wish you wouldn't call him that.
Emily, gritting her teeth: Where was he, Sean?
Sean: North Korea.
Emily, shocked: What!
Sean: I know. I was surprised- I was told Afghanistan.
Emily: Russia for me, China for Clyde I think.
Sean: Tsia was told Guantanamo
Emily sighed.
Emily: Wait, so what happened with the op to bring in Jeremy then?
Sean, sighing : Someone got to him first. My guess- Doyle burned him as soon as he got what he needed.
Emily: You're probably right. Ok, I've got to go.
Sean: Stay safe.
END SCENE
INT. BAU ROUNDTABLE/CONFERENCE ROOM - SCENE 5.9
START SCENE
Emily was the last inside the room.
Prentiss: Sorry.
Hotch looked at her. Normally, he would have scolded her for being late, but he now knew about her stalker. It was clear she was stressed.
Hotch: It's fine. Garcia?
Garcia: Okey doke. Hello, my lovelies. Sorry to be calling you in on your days of freedom, but two families, the Consenzas and the Fagans have been killed and then their houses exploded. The Consenzas look like a murder-suicide, our killer being Dad, but the Fagans might have been a gasleak.
Morgan: What connects them?
Garcia: This article.
Hotch looked at the images closer.
Hotch: Prentiss, Rossi - go check out the scene, Metro PD will meet you there.
Emily stared ahead at the board. She already knew who the unsub was as soon as she saw the names. She remembered them being part of the team that transported Ian to whatever hole they threw him in. God, Ian. The little boy too?
Hotch: Prentiss?
Emily snapped out of her thoughts.
Prentiss: I'm good.
END SCENE
MONTAGE OF ROSSI AND PRENTISS CHECKING OUT THE SCENE - SCENE 5.10
INT. BAU BULLPEN - SCENE 5.11
START SCENE
The team is standing in various places around the BAU Bullpen, other nameless agents milling around. Garcia is sitting on Emily's desk, computer on her lap.
Rossi: So other than both being foreigners, these two men have nothing in common?
Garcia: Almost. So first, I checked to see if they'd ever called each other, and nothing. Nope. nada. But then, I remembered that I'm a genius and looked harder. So they never once called each other, but they did have one number in common. I tracked it- and it's another European - Byron Delaney.
She spins the laptop around to show the agents her screen, a picture of Byron Delaney's passport displayed across it.
Morgan: So we need to go talk to him.
Hotch nodded.
Hotch: At best, he's a lead or the killer himself. At worst, he's next on the list. Prentiss, Morgan, go talk to him. Garcia?
Garcia: Address sent!
Emily was wary about being alone with Morgan since she all but told him flat out she was CIA. She'd never done that before - broken her oath of secrecy - that is. But keeping the rest of her secrets wasn't just a matter of protecting her pride, Ian clearly knew the identities of the team as he knew details of their cases and saw press conferences.
And she knew he would kill every last one of them and their families without a second thought, just to torture her. Emily could only pray Ian didn't know anything of Derek and hers' tryst. Back when she was undercover, Ian would annihilate a man just for looking at her too long.
What would he do to a man who slept with her? The problem was Morgan had this sway over her- he asked her questions and it took all she had not to spill like a broken sink.
END SCENE
INT./EXT. SUV WITH MORGAN AND PRENTISS - SCENE 5.12
START SCENE
Emily stares out the window, looking at the passing people. They have no idea, she thinks. No idea about the horrors the BAU grapples with each day, the destruction she witnessed (and more or less took part in) undercover, the danger they were constantly in.
Oh, what Emily would give to have that: blissful ignorance. But she knew. She knew all too well.
Morgan: Em.
Emily, absentmindedly, not paying attention to him calling her name, speaking of her own accord: Does Hotch know?
Morgan sighed.
Morgan: I had to tell him. Look, he's not..
Emily snorted.
Emily: Don't say he's not mad. He is.
Morgan: Ok, he's mad. But he's not going to fire you. Emily, we're so worried about you
Emily: Why?
Morgan began to speak, but quickly remembered they'd decided to keep their findings about her stalker a secret from her. He struggled with this. If it was related to her CIA history, he agreed.
They shouldn't tell her because it would be putting her in an impossible position. On the other hand, if it was an obsessive unsub looking to kill her- she needed to know!
Emily, growing impatient: What, Derek?
Morgan: You just haven't been yourself lately, I know you know that.
Emily: I guess. I fixed my hair, I know that was making you all spazz out.
Morgan soberly chuckled.
Morgan: It's not, It's not what we did right? You regret it or… did I take advantage because Emily, if I…
Emily: Stop. No, it's not anything like that. I just can't do a relationship, if that's what you want. I'm sorry if I led you to think that's where it was going.
Emily felt sick, blatantly lying to him and ruining any chance they might have had. She was lying. She wanted that with Derek.
She thought she wanted it with JJ, but she'd realized that had been a fantasy she'd clung to as a projection of her own issues. If JJ was with Will, they couldn't be together and if they couldn't ever be together, she couldn't ever screw it up. The fantasy of the perfect relationship could stay frozen like that, untouched and unmarred by the violence of reality.
She had to do this, she reminded herself. She was protecting him. Besides, maybe she didn't deserve a guy like Derek, not after everything she'd done.
She knew she had to kill Ian to end this, but she also knew she would see him in hell.

INT. BYRON DELANEY'S HOUSE - SCENE 5.13
START SCENE
Liam, peering out the window: Hold up.
Ian: What?
Liam: Feds. Man and woman.
Ian: Is it her?
Liam nodded.
END SCENE
EXT. THE DRIVEWAY OF THE BYRON DELANEY'S HOUSE - SCENE 5.14
START SCENE
Emily and Morgan are exiting the SUV when a ear-shattering bang disrupts them - a gunshot.
Morgan, shouting: Prentiss, get down!
Instantly, the two agents draw their own weapons and return fire at the group of masked men exiting the house. The agents head for cover behind the SUVs, but the men continue shooting, eventually getting a shot through the glass of the car. It takes only seconds for Emily to know exactly who these men are- the victim, the guns, the way they attack- it's Ian Doyle 101.
Despite the masks, she can tell which one is him easily. She takes note that the bullets from his gun go nowhere near her (and he's not missing, he's a better shot than that, she knows). Gritting her teeth, she ducks behind a red vehicle and fires.
A third man, one she can't tell who it is by body shape falls to the ground- she hit him. The fallen soldier stumbles toward the van that Ian and his accomplices have hurried into but a bullet flies out, piercing his skull and then another his wrist. Morgan and Emily run up behind the van, trying to follow it, but it's no use.
The van disappears off into the DC night.
END SCENE
TIME PASSES - CRIME SCENE UNITS AND OTHER COPS ARRIVE AT THE SCENE - SCENE 5.15
EXT. OUTSIDE THE HOUSE - SCENE 5.16
START SCENE
Morgan: Prentiss, look at this
Morgan holds up the dead man's wrist.
Morgan: It's a tattoo.
Prentiss: So they shot it because they knew it would identify him.
Morgan: Can you tell what it is?
Prentiss, shrugging: No.
Lie. She knew exactly what it was. Ian had the same one.
One day, when they were laying on the couch, her head in his lap and his hand under her shirt, he tried to convince her to get one, too when they were together, but she had explained to him that she had enough ink with her two tattoos already. He chuckled and traced the one on her ribcage, just beneath her chest with his fingertip. Emily closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, trying to push the memory to the back of her mind like all the rest.
Morgan lifted the mask of the man's face slowly. Emily didn't recognise his face, but he couldn't be more than 25 years old. Lord, Ian.
He was just a kid. This was exactly why she desperately had to protect Declan from Ian's life. Is this the life Ian envisioned for his son?
Emily: he's just a kid…
Morgan: You fire a machine gun at federal agents, you're not a kid anymore.
Emily: He didn't know he was signing up for this…
Emily knew how Ian recruited- promises of money, glory, a wild and free lifestyle. However this kid was manipulated into becoming a criminal, he sure didn't expect this.
END SCENE
INT. BAU BULLPEN - EMILY AT HER DESK - SCENE 5.17
START SCENE
Emily sat at her desk, not really listening to the conversation of her team around her. Her phone began to buzz and she excused herself to the hallway before heading to her clandestine supply closet to answer the call.
Clyde (via phone): It's me.
Emily (via phone): I know. Clyde, Ian just killed Delaney and shot at Morgan and I.
Clyde (via phone): Have you heard from Tsia?
Emily, growing worried (via phone): She hasn't come back from Corelli's?
Clyde (via phone): No. Em, check it out will you?
Emily (via phone): Yeah, yeah. You hear about Jeremy?
Clyde (via phone): Sean told me he was the traitor. Also mentioned meeting your dad.
Emily (via phone): Yeah. I can't believe it.
Clyde (via phone): I can. Em, stay safe yeah?
Emily (via phone): I will.
Clyde (via phone): Promise me you won't go rogue and try to take Doyle down yourself.
Emily didn't say anything.
Clyde (via phone): Darling, promise me.
Emily sighed and hung up on Clyde.

INT. HALLWAY OUTSIDE OF THE CLOSET - SCENE 5.18
START SCENE
Emily shut the door behind her as she slipped out of the closet.
Garcia: Oh! Emily! We just got a report of a homicide on 9th street- Hotch wants you and Morgan to check it out.
Emily: yeah, no problem.
Garcia smiled and continued walking past her, towards her office.
Emily, suddenly alarmed: Wait!
Garcia spun around.
Garcia: What?
Emily: Did you say 9th street?

INT. GARCIA'S LAIR - SCENE 5.19

Hotch: Garcia.
Garcia entered the room
Garcia: You… you're here? In my office?
Hotch: Is that not okay?
Garcia: Of course, of course. What's up?
Hotch: Did you get anything on that photo?
Garcia shook her head.
Garcia: I ran it through every database- nothing. Sir, can you tell me what this is about?
Hotch, lowering his voice: Can you get into the CIA databases?
Garcia: CIA? Sir-
Hotch: I'll take the fall for it if we get caught.
Garcia: Sir, why -
Hotch, interrupting her before she could ask a question: Just do it. It's important.
Garcia, suspicious: Okey dokey.
Hotch nodded and left the room.
END SCENE
INT. BULLPEN - ROSSI AND REID - SCENE 5.20
START SCENE
Rossi: Whatcha doing, kid?
Reid looked back at Rossi.
Reid: I'm trying to recreate the tattoo the dead unsub had.
Rossi: What do you think it is?
Reid: There's not much to go off of, but i think it's a four leaf clover. I'm going to have Garcia run it through her system, see if she gets a ping off of it.
Rossi nods.
END SCENE
INT. HALLWAY IN FRONT OF CORELLI'S APARTMENT - SCENE 5.21
START SCENE
Emily and Morgan walk down the hall, getting the 411 from the MPD officers already at the scene. Emily shudders at what her eyes just came across: Tsia's lifeless body is slumped against the wall, facing the door, blood dripping down her dead face. Emily chokes back tears, and something else too, and excuses herself. Morgan follows her back outside.
Morgan: Em, you okay?
Emily began to nod, but that same something started to creep its way back up her throat and she darted to the chain fence, gripping the wire with shaky, pale fingers. Emily coughed and began to gag, her breakfast finding its way onto the ground beneath her.
Morgan: What'd you do? Pull a Whiskey pete?
Emily: Don't know what that means.
Morgan chuckled.
Morgan: Are you okay, though?
Emily: I think I got some on my shoes. Look, I live like 10 minutes from here, can we stop for a second and I can change?
Morgan: I don't know… Hotch wants us back.
Emily: I'll be super quick. Promise.
Morgan: Alright.

INT./EXT. IAN'S CAR - SCENE 5.22
START SCENE
Liam: There she is.
Ian, angry: With him.
Liam rolled his eyes.
Liam: She looks upset. She probably just found your little gift.
Ian: Yes, it seems that way.
Ian was not quite paying attention to Liam's words, more focused on Emily, who was heading up to her apartment.
Liam: We should take her out now, it'd be so easy.
Ian: I've got a feeling the feds are onto us. We need to get out of the city while we still can.
Liam: How will you-
Ian: She'll follow me.
Liam: You sure?
Ian: I'm sure.
Liam: Why?
Ian: Because she must.
END SCENE
INT. BAU CONFERENCE ROOM- SCENE 5.23
START SCENE
Sean McCallister: Agent Hotchner?
Hotch was at his desk, reviewing the notes from the two family annihilations. At the sound of his name, he looked up to find an unfamiliar face.
Sean: I'm Agent Sean McCallister with Interpol. We're here on assignment on a joint task force with the CIA and just about every agency in the world. However, I think the BAU might be able to help us out.
McCallister extended his hand and Hotch accepted the gesture, standing up from his desk and making a stride across the office to shake his hand.
Hotch: Of course. Give your files to our technical analyst Penelope Garcia.
McCallister: Thank you.
Sean knew it was risky to get Emily's team involved, and he knew she would be furious with him for not telling her beforehand, but the BAU's specific skill set was essential to tracking Doyle down, and not telling her provided Emily a layer of plausible deniability.

INT. GARCIA'S LAIR - SCENE 5.24

Hotch closed the door behind him as he entered Garcia's office.
Hotch: Garcia, what do I need to see?
Garcia: Remember that picture you gave me to run through the system?
Hotch: You found something?
Garcia: Not on our databases, no.
Hotch: You got into CIA databases and found something?
Garcia: Also no.
Hotch: Then what, Garcia?
Garcia: You know the case Interpol is working and asked for our help on?
Hotch: What about it?
Garcia: You didn't look at it yourself, the file?
Hotch, shaking his head and beginning to grow impatient: I told him to bring it straight to you. Garcia, what about it?
Garcia: It's the same guy.
Hotch: What?
Garcia, pulling out the two photos to compare and show Hotch: Look. The guy you asked me to find and the guy Interpol wants to find are the same dude.
