Love clock. The love clock is something eternal inside of them. It helps find your true soulmate. It counts down your steps, and when the time is right, your timer buzzes, so look around to find your match, (They'll also have their buzz and be looking around, so it should be easy to find them..) THank you, keep this in mind and read!
Ace groaned, putting his head on the desk as the teacher asked boring history questions, his black as coal, hair covering his eye. As always, a beautiful blonde-headed girl shot her hand to the sky, smiling like her face was stuck. It wasn't a bad smile, it was the kind of smile that made your heart melt. Or at least that's what boys Ace say they do when they're near her. "Ugh seriously, no one else. Fine, Madilyn?" the teacher scolded the class. Madilyn replied in her so sweet that you could get cavities just by hearing it, voice. ``Um I believe that Alexander Hamilton was George Washigntons right- hand man. ANd thanks to his friend, Marquis de La Fayette, he stayed the right hand man until Washington resigned from presidency." "Correct, as always," the teacher said under her breath. *RING!* "Ugh finally," Ace thought. He packed his bag and walked outside to the bus. He walked in and took an empty seat. No one wanted to sit next to Ace, he was just too weird, and edgy. But as Madilyn stepped into the bus, all eyes were on her. Guys were drooling over her, girls were jealous, but everyone almost fainted as she asked Ace, "Hey, is this seat taken?" Guys were about to push the person next to them off the seat and run up to her and say, "My seats open!" Ace just glanced at her and shrugged. "Yeah." "Awesome!" She sat down, Ace scooting closer to the wall. The rows had 2 seats each, which made Ace feel awkward. He's never had anyone sit next to him, except for in class, where no one had much of a choice. "Hi, I'm Madilyn!" she said, looking like it's nothing to start a conversation with the edgiest guy in the entire school. "Yeah, I know. You're the girl that lights up the room." He said with his hands closing and opening. "You, really think that?" She asked, curiosity getting the best of her. Ace nearly blushed, quickly saying, "Oh no, I mean you have a perky personality, all the guys are saying that." After an awkward, "Oh, okay," from Madilyn, Ace introduced himself. "Yeah I know, you're the guy that has a cloud of thunder above your head." Ace stared at her, as Madilyn quickly added, "That's what all the students say. But, I don't think that. I think you just need someone to talk to." Ace thought about it, before asking, "So, why'd you sit here with me, wouldn't you rather sit next to one of the jocks?" "What do you mean?" "Well, it's just that you're so perky, you could be a cheerleader in an instant. And don't they hang out with jocks?" "Cheerleaders are just overly perky girls who cheer just to attract dumb and shallow guys. I'd do anything not to be one." "Oh. Cool. Great confidence." Madilyn just sat there, and now it was Ace's turn to start up a convo. "So, do you know what the theme for the School Dance will be?" "Um, I think it's Disco, but honestly, I hate that. It's too-" "Old." They both looked at each other, before Madilyn softly said, "Jinx." Ace made a face, and turned his head to face the window. "Sorry, Ace." Madilyn just sat there, relaxing herself. And in a few minutes, that girl was dead asleep. Ace didn't mind, she didn't do anything: didn't snore, didn't move. She just sat there, air pods in her ear, probably listening to music. Ace sat, facing the seat in front of him. They'd only been in the bus for like 3 minutes. When they reached 5, the bus took a scary turn. That turn moved everyone, including sleeping beauty. Madilyn didn't move much, but her head did fall onto Ace's shoulder. Ace panicked, what was he supposed to do. Guys started getting crazy jealous, girls gossiped, but no one even thought about taking pics. After another 5 minutes of Ace falling asleep on her head, she yawned, Ace moving his head as she woke up. "I'm sorry, did my sleeping annoy you. It's just that My house is far. Anyway, this is my stop. See ya tomorrow!" She didn't wait for a reply, leaving Ace's wave hanging.
The next day, Ace was sitting in the corner of the lunchroom, on the ground alone like always. As Madilyn walked in, he couldn't help but give the smallest wave. She smiled, grabbing her lunch and headed to her usual table. It was a close enough distance to where Ace sat. To his surprise, she took a turn, earning some "Where you going?" from her friends. Instead, she walked up to Ace, asking, "Is this seat taken?" Ace looked up at her. "No, but wouldn't you rather sit with your friends?" "Nah, I've grown tired of them. All we do is take selfies. If we do one more, I'm gonna go blind." Ace laughed, and immediately covered his mouth with his hands. "Hey, don't cover your mouth, you have a great laugh." She pulled his arm, his hands letting go of his face. "Ha, there." She started to eat, leaving Ace to wonder if his laugh was really great. He wasn't sure he'd ever laughed his whole life. Ace continued to eat, and he asked, "Are you going to the dance?" Madilyn swallowed and replied, "I'm working at a food booth, so I'd be there anyways. Are you?" "Dunno. Usually, I just sulk around in a corner." "Awesome. Well, I'd love to see you there. I need someone to comfort me when our teachers are showing off their disco 80's moves." She shuddered, and got up to head to class. "Bye!" Ace waved again, this time receiving one back. He smiled, this time, not hiding it behind his hands. He got up and headed off to class.
When Sunday arrived, Ace couldn't help but dress up a little. He found a black hoodie, a gray tie, and some jeans. It wasn't the best, but that's Ace's idea of fancy. Disco dressing was optional, which relieved Ace when he saw students wearing suits and dresses. Really only teachers had crazy do's, and bright clothing. There was a small disco ball in the center of the gym, hanging from the ceiling, lighting the giant room with colored, flashing lights. Ace headed over to his usual corner, where it was most deserted. He sat down, and watched everyone laugh, dance, and have a good time. After a while, a bright light shone by the entrance. Standing there was none other than the gorgeous Madilyn. SHe was wearing a nice lacy top, with a long wavy blue skirt. As guys stared, and girls taking pictures, she walked up to an empty booth. Ace was shocked as she lit up a light in the booth closest to him. "Wow, just my luck." Ace thought. Madilyn looked over at Ace, waving. Ace waved back, and went up to her booth. "So, you're working at this booth. Right here. Next to my sulking corner." Madilyn laughed and said, "You're saying it like it's a bad thing." Trying to change the subject, Ace asked quickly, " So, did you see all the teachers here? I'm pretty sure there are more adults here than students." Madilyn laughed, making Ace blush once more. Her smile was really soft and cute, and Ace couldn't help but laugh too. "Anyway," Madilyn continued, drinking some water. "I gotta start working. I'll see ya later. Come by here if you're hungry." Ace nodded and walked back to his corner. As songs went by, and teachers danced, Ace sat there, going through his phone. A few hours went by, and a nice classical rock song went on. Madilyn's shift was over, and these two blonde dudes took her place. She walked up to Ace. Ace looked up at her beautiful face as she asked, "You wanna go dance?" Ace looked around himself. "M-me?" "Haha, who else would I be talking to? C'mon, lets go!" Ace got up quickly and followed Madilyn. They found a nice spacious area, and danced. Ace didn't even notice when a slow song went by, until Madilyn stopped dancing, and looked at him. Ace froze. A slow song going on, with them next to each other. Madilyn blurted out, "Um, so…" Ace's face turned red. "I'ma head back." "Oh, okay, yeah I have to do something else." They both awkwardly turned around and walked away. Ace silently scolded himself and walked out of the gym. The next day, it was like that night never happened. Except for the fact that some teachers still wore their crazy colorful clothing. As lunch came along, Madilyn went to eat with Ace again. He just sat there, eating his PB&J. Madilyn sat next to him. After some awkward silence between them, Madilyn asked, "So, where'd you go last night? After we danced, you disappeared." "Oh, um…" Ace was hoping that wouldn't come up in a conversation. "I had to go home…" "Oh. Okay." Madilyn silently ate her food, and the silence continued. Ace couldn't believe himself when he asked her, "Um, do you wanna come over to my house to study on Thursday?"
Madilyn nearly choked. Ace's eyes widened, like, "Oh my gosh, she's gonna die!" She coughed, pounding her chest, and silently replied, "Uh, re- really? You want me to come over for a study-date?" Now, Ace was gonna die. "What, um no, just your smart, and the big history test is coming up. So, I was just um, wondering if you wanted to uh…" Ace stopped, wondering why he was stammering so much. "I just need help. I suck at history." Madilyn stared, and then, laughed? Ace wondered why it was so funny. Was it his stammering, or his cherry red face. He started to pull his hoodie strings, about to close up his hood, but Madilyn stopped and quickly said, "No no no, don't hide your pretty, uh, your face." She pulled Ace's hands off of the strings, and opened up the hoodie, pulling it down from his head. She smiled, and Ace felt something in his heart. It was like a perfectly golden-brown marshmallow ate his heart up. Madilyn acted like it was nothing as she just smiled and said, "I'd love to!" She left for class, leaving Ace dumbstruck. "Did I seriously just ask the most popular girl in the, I don't know, WORLD?" Ace panicked in his head. Later that day, as Ace walked into his room, he saw a demon. Ace didn't jump, he didn't run out of there at sonic-speed, and he definitely didn't scream like a little girl. He just stood there, disgusted. "Well, look who's finally back from school. C'mon, your spirit ghost is waiting." "Spirit ghost, still? Dude, just give up and call yourself a demon." "NO! Ugh, I mean, I need you to do something." "Uh…" Ace looked outside to where his mom was cooking. SHe had headphones on, probably listening to music or a talk. "Okay, what is it, Demon?" "Ugh you love making it difficult don't 'cha? Anyway, I've been in your body for over a year, and now, it's time you know why." "Finally! You know how weird it is to have an old guy staying in your body for no reason?!" "Sheesh man. Okay, so I am a spirit watcher, because I still have some business I need you to finish." "Okay…" Ace was so confused. "So, this is my story: "I found a love for meeeeeee!" "Dude, are you gonna keep being Ed Sheren, or will you just tell me what the heck your "business" is?" Ace interrupted the singing demon with his air quotes. "So does this mean that I won't make it to broadway?" He batted what was left of his eyelashes. Ace was a volcano about to explode. "Jeez, if you get any madder, steams gonna boom out of your ear. Anyway, as you can tell by my "lovely singing", there was a woman, and she was BEAUTIFUL! But, as we dated, this guy was stalking us. A year went by, and the day I was gonna ask her to marry me, that stalker guy killed me in my sleep! Oh the nerve of that guy…" "Wait, so you want me to marry this like 100 year old women?!" "Hey, I'm not that old… I'm 101! And no. I don't want you to marry my girl! She's already dead." "Okay," Ace was getting impatient. "SO WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO!?" "Calm down man. I need you to find love. That's, uh it!" Ace was shocked. "Wait that's it? You just wasted like an hour of my time, just to tell me that I need a girlfriend. Do you know who I am? It's like Madilyn said, I'm the guy that brings a thundercloud into the room." Ace thought, "Madilyn?" Ace put the pieces together, and literally he could've died when he said, "You want me and Madilyn…" "Boy! Uh, just a love. That's all, Uh, I gotta go. Bye!" Demon disappeared, leaving Ace to almost die of a heart attack when he realized that earlier that day, he had asked her out. ON a Date. AT HIS HOUSE! He couldn't stop panicking the next day. It was now Thursday, which meant Madilyn was coming over for their small "study date". The words still bothered him, but he sort of liked it…
As Ace hurried to get his small house cleaned, he was sort of relieved when his mom told him she was going to her friends house for the night. Ace frantically ran to the door when the doorbell rang. Standing outside, was the beautiful Madilyn, who was wearing some comfy shorts and a black and white t-shirt. "Hey!" she said, walking inside. "Uh, hey Madilyn! Uh, what's up?" "Nothing much. Anyway, let's hit the books!" "Okay." Ace grabbed his floppy social studies book and punched it onto the couch. "Okay, done!" Madilyn laughed, and Ace felt that heart-eating marshmallow again. "Silly boy, you know what I meant." They sat down and went through most of the book. They had been at this for around 3 hours, taking thousands of breaks when Ace whined, "My brain hurts! I can't take in anymore info!" "Okay, well, that's pretty much the whole book. What do you want to do now?" "We can watch a movie." "Great! What movies do you have? Any horrors or comedies?" "I have this." Ace held up The Grinch, live action. "YAY!" He played the movie, and handed Madilyn some pillows and blankets. As they watched, Ace couldn't help but smile whenever Madilyn hid her face in his shoulder, being scared of how creepy the grinch looked. As the movie finished, Madilyn was starting to get drowsy, so she grabbed her things and they both walked to the nearest bus stop. "Thanks again, for the help." Giving Ace a small chuckle, she said, "No problem. Hope you Ace, your history test!" She paused, and then as the bus pulled up, she kissed Ace's cheek, smiled, and got onto the bus, leaving Ace shocked. "Did, she just kiss my cheek?" he thought. He touched his cheek, blushing. Then, he smiled and walked home.
Closing the door behind him, the demon started dragging out the word, "Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Did I just see what I just saw or are my eyes deceiving me?!" "Ah, what are you doing?" "OH nothing, just MY JOB!" he replied, popping the B. "Well, stalker much?" "Don't you mean to say, 'oh yeah no, the hottest and most popular girl in school just KISSED MY CHEEK!'" Demon said, mimicking Ace. "First off, I don't sound anything like that, second, Stalker much? And third, I DO NOT SOUND LIKE ALVIN FROM ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS!" "Sheesh, okay. But, ACEY has a girlfriend, ACEY HAS A GIRLFRIEND!" The demon cha-chaed his way into Ace's room, singing and dancing as Ace sat down on the couch, looking over at the history book. He couldn't help but smile and blush, until he heard, "Oh my gosh, my baby boy has grown up" and tissues being blown. He gave the demon a disgusted look, and got ready for bed. The next day, he ACED the test, and Madilyn gave him a celebratory cupcake. "Really, you just have cupcakes in your bag?" He asked, staring at the smiley face frosting, then and her. "Noooo… I also have brownies. DUH!" She brought a brownie to her mouth, eating it with delight. Ace did the same, and felt his taste buds dance. He shook his head, but continued eating the magical cupcake. "SO, uh what're you doing this weekend?" Madilyn asked, putting down her more than half eaten brownie. Ace looked over at her, and said, "Oh, uh, nothing. Probably just gonna play Among Us or Minecraft. Or watch movies." "Oh really? I didn't know you were into video games." "Yeah, it just relaxes me. I guess. I don't know." "Well, I was wondering if you wanted to um, watch a movie. I heard The Croods, a New Age just came out!" "Oh. um…" He didn't know what to say. He couldn't ask if this was like a date date, considering that kiss the other day, but he didn't know how to say, well no! "Uh sure, why not. I'm sure it'll be great." "Yay, okay I'll buy the tickets, and I'll drop by your house tomorrow at 3:00." She got up, and left. "Okay…" he said to the air that used to be Madillyn. "Uh…" They went on the date the next day. It was cute? IDk.
When Ace gets home, The demon has an evil look on his face. "Uh, are you okay, Mr. Spirit Watcher?" "No, actually, you can call me demon. I see you came home, from a date, With That girl." "She's not just, 'that girl' she's Madilyn, sweet, pretty, kind, pretty, Madilyn." Ace daydreamed and shook his head and said, "Soooo." "OH haha, here's the thing… Uh, you need to kill her." Ace froze, lost in his thoughts, as he slowly looked over at the devious look on his face. "What?" He's terrified, as the demon responds, " Yeah, funny thing, uh the unfinished business that you need to finish, yeah, can't be done through you, so My job is to make sure that you don't finish your job either." "WHAT!?" Ace's face is cherry red with anger, he couldn't kill her. "It's her or you…" Ace couldn't believe it. He couldn't just murder her. He, "No, no no no no. I can't possibly like her? No I-I…" The demon disappears, and hides inside Ace as he punches the wall, leaving a dent big enough to fit a beach ball in. He can't just murder himself, but he couldn't just kill her. He had no choice, so he texted Madilyn, and asked her to meet him at Lovers Lookout the next day. She instantly said "OMG YESS I'LL MEET YOU THERE! :" Ace cringed, in a sad way. He knew how much this was gonna hurt, yet, he couldn't help but deviously smile at the same time…
The next day, Madilyn arrived early, wearing a cute teal shirt with a huge heart in the middle, and a blue and orange skirt. Her beautiful, blond hair flowed behind her, with 2 braids meeting at the back of her head. Ace arrived, wearing a black hoodie and jeans. His hood covered his head, hiding his silent tears, and he held a dagger in his hand, clenching the other. He got out of the car, which was driven by his mom. She didn't know what was going on, and she honestly didn't even care, seeing that she just drove off afterwards. He took a step toward her. 10. He silently said, "I'm sorry. I…" He took another step. 9. Madilyn was walking in place, staring at the sun setting. 9. "I. I love-" 8. He took another step, slowly taking out his dagger. Madilyn stepped again, 8. "-you…" He took a breath and stepped again. 7. Madilyn did the same. He stepped slower, getting closer to her death. 6, 5. She stepped, down to 2. So did Ace. This last step would be the last time he saw Madilyn. 1. *Buzz!* Ace froze. "No. No, no no. It can't be buzzing. It, no.." *Buzz* Madilyn's love clock went out. "What?" She turned around, horrified. There in front of her, was Ace, dagger in the air. "Ace?"
" What. What are you?" "Madilyn I-" He stopped. How can he explain what the heck he was doing, when it was pretty obvious WHAT THE HECK HE WAS DOING! "Were, were you trying to…" She cut herself off, covering her mouth with her hand. "I can't, believe… You're my, but you were, and I…" She started tearing up, Ace dropping the dagger, letting it hit the ground. "Madilyn, I-" "No," she stopped Ace. "Don't talk to me. I don't want to hear it." She ran off, hands covering her crying eyes. Ace wanted to chase after her, and tell her everything, but the demon just stood in front of him, laughing his butt off. Ace was crying as he asked, "What, the heck. Why did I have to kill HER?!" He tried stabbing the demon, but the dagger went through him. "Ace, it was meant to happen. You're always pushing people away, your mom, your best friend, what's his name?" "Spade…" Ace remembered his friend, they were the Card Bros. But he pushed Spade away, when the demon entered, not wanting him to know. Ace was so much happier then, when the demon was gone, and he was free to be him. "Yeah, Spade. It was only a matter of time before you're on a date with her and you start pushing her away." Ace never thought of it that way. "I." "But that love clock thing, that was a surprising plot twist. Not sure what to do about it." "Are you done," Ace asked, his tone shaky but mad and solid. "Hm?" The demon wasn't paying much attention. "She's never gonna speak to me again, so your job is done right?" "Yeah, but…" "But. What 'BUT' are you talking about? You said-" "I did. But, your body is too fun to manipulate. I can't just leave.." With that, he went inside Ace laughing, leaving him crying his eyes out. "Madilyn-" He slowly walked home, thinking back to all his memories, of his mom, of Spade, of, her…
The next days were the slowest, and worst days of his life. Madilyn never spoke, never smiled, never even looked over at Ace. And lunch was even worse: her friends would make a human wall so that she can't see him. Ace felt defeated, like he could just float down now. But one day, when they were finishing the wall, Ace glanced over, and saw Madilyn sadly staring at Ace. She noticed Ace watching and she turned her head away. Ace frowned, and just continued eating. He tried everything to apologize, but she would buy it. One day, he caught her by herself in an alley, just sitting quietly and drawing. He took the chance, and went up to her. "Madilyn, look you don't have to look at me, you don't have to talk, just listen. I'm sorry, I wish I could explain why I was doing it, but for my sake, I-" "Ace, you only care about yourself. Spade told me about you, and I just can't believe I let myself buy it. I let myself fall-" She looked up at Ace and said, "Just tell me." "Uh.." He didn't stop him when the demon appeared and said, "It's time you KNEW!" "What the heck?!" She looked over at Ace, who was looking away, ashamed. "Yeah so, HI. I'm demon. I've heard a lot about you. And I took over Ace's body. Yeah. That's it." "You've had a demon inside your body this whole time?!" She was shocked, terrified, and intrigued all at the same time. "Madilyn, I had to finish what he told me to do, and I- I had to choose me or you." "And he chose you. Not much of a soulmate. Now is he?" "I, I don't deserve to be forgiven, but at least take my apology." Madilyn, being her smart self, said, "Wait, so you are supposed to make sure that he doesn't find love. Am I right?" She pointed at the demon, then at Ace, before crossing her arms. "Yep!" "So if he did find love," She let the demon finish. "I'd disappear. But now that's not gonna happen, cause you're his love and you hate him!" She turned to Ace and said, "So, bye?"
Ace didn't know how to react when she grabbed his hand and leaned in to kiss him! Their lips met, as Ace panicked. His eyes widened, but slowly closed as he intertwined his fingers through hers, and cupped her cheek with the other. As they pull apart, the demon is shocked. "But you, he tried, but the.." He was interrupted by a loud, booming voice that said, "Germy!" "Dad, it's Jeremy." "I don't care, you failed! I'm shipping you away to Dirty School!" "Ugh Dad!" The demon disappeared, and then dad winked at Ace before leaving. Ace looked down at the ground as Madilyn said, "Sooo…" "Look, I'm sorry, you didn't need to do that. I'll, just leave now, I'm, uh." He walked off onto a nearby bench. Madilyn followed him, and asked, "Is this seat taken?" He looked up at her, and shrugged. She sat down as he hid his face in his hands, softly crying. He didn't remember the last time he cried. Other than when he was weeping over Madilyn. She didn't say anything, but just hugged him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Ace, I understand, and if you push me away, I'll still be here for you. I-" He turned to face her, tears falling from his eyes. "Madilyn, I could never push you away. You mean too much to me for me to do that." He smiled at her, getting one in return, and they sat there, Madilyns arm still around him, head on head, staring at the sunset. They looked at each other once more, and this time, Ace leaned in to kiss her cheek before they cuddled once more. Now, he didn't even mind the fact that her head was so close to his, and the fact that his arm was around her, hands intertwined together once more. He felt the happiness rushing back to him, and he finally felt what he had always been longing for: Peace, and Love.
