A glimmer of hope

The next day, as the Glee members walked into the choir room, they found mister Schue already there, the chairs were divided into two distinctive groups. "Okay, I want the girls in the middle: Lauren and Tina on the top row, Rachel and Mercedes on the row below them and the Cheerios, when they get here, on the bottom row." Just as Mr. Schue finished the sentence Quinn, Santana and Brittany walked in, everybody froze. Quinn released the tension: "Relax, we are alone." A collective sigh could be heard. Mister Schue then returned to his assignment: "Next to Rachel on her right Puck, Mike and Sam. First row Finn and Artie. Mike, make sure you can step back easily." Mike nodded, he had decided this for himself already.

When everybody was seated the football team came in. Coach Beiste and Mister Schue had orchestrated it precisely: the less volatile of the players closest to the Glee girls and Karofsky and Azimio furthest away.

Mike and Tina hoped that Mister Schue would have a better plan than the plan he'd had yesterday. But as he explained about coach Sylvester pulling the Cheerios and their half time show from the championship Mike was sure it wouldn't be good. He was partly right. Of course the football team objected to doing the half time show, but when Mister Schue explained they were doing Thriller Mike saw some of the football players become interested. For the first time since that awful game Mike saw a glimmer of hope. Plus doing Thriller/Heads will roll would be so awesome. He immediately started thinking about the choreography. He quickly looked behind him and saw Tina's excited face, she smiled at him. "This is going to be great" she softly said. Mike could only nod, but as everybody got up to go to the auditorium he swung his arm around her shoulder and began telling her about the awesome moves they could incorporate in the choreography, Mister Schue of course overheard: "I would like it if you helped with the choreography Mike."

"Of course Mister Schue."

Mercedes and Tina were already discussing the costumes. And Will simply listened to his Glee kids, knowing they were excited. He had already panned the performance for a large part, especially the solos. He knew he would make a lot of the Glee kids very happy. This had to work, it just had to.
