A big stage

As she made her way to the auditorium Tina checked the dance studio's she passed, but no Mike Chang. It didn't surprise Tina. She suspected Mike needed a bigger stage to work through these events. So she wasn't surprised to find Mike in the auditorium. There her was, alone on that stage, but so at home on it. The boom box on the piano played music, hard angry music. Mike danced on the stage. It hurt Tina to watch it. While most Glee kids just used music to sing about what was going on, Mike used it to dance to, Mike didn't use his voice to give way to what he was feeling, he used his whole body, he used dance. When he danced he gave it his all, he put all the things he was feeling in it. And now he was so angry, disappointed, frustrated and hurt, that Tina almost couldn't watch him dance, it was so intense. There was so much anger in the dance, it was such a hard dance, that she couldn't think of anything that could make him feel better. Words and songs, massages, caresses and kisses wouldn't be enough. Slowly Tina walked forward and, as the dance continued, saw how the anger was slowly getting less prominent - Mike hadn't seen her yet - she saw Brad backstage and motioned for him to come. "Brad, could you play the piano, improvise, follow Mike's movements." True to form Brad nodded silently. He then started to play along with the boom box.

Tina placed her bag next to Mike's, the letterman still lying over her arms. Patiently she waited for Mike to notice her. It took some time, but Tina was more than willing to watch Mike's dance moves. His steps, jumps and turns were a done so seemingly effortless, but Tina knew he used all the available time to perfect those moves. She would be happy just watching him dance, his body moving so smoothly, his muscles rippling under his skin and the emotion in his body and face, it was mesmerising.

Then with one turn he came to face her. She saw his surprise, but the hurt in his face was overwhelming. Especially as he lowered his gaze to the jersey over her arms. His eyes connected with hers, the pain and anger blazing in them. Mike turned away. Tina placed the jersey on the piano, turned off the boom box and nodded to Brad. He immediately played the right tune. "Mike." Tina whispered, as he turned to her, she showed her empty arms. With a few simple dance steps Tina crossed the space between her and Mike. She softly took his hand in hers. Her eyes pleading with his. Mike turned her is his arms leading her into his dance, into his pain. And they danced as they had done so often. They simply followed each other, it come so naturally for them both that they didn't have to think about the technique. Mike lead Tina in the dance, showing her his feelings through movement, working with her to give those feelings a place. Finding peace again.

Finally, stilling in each other's arms, Mike hugged Tina, holding her firmly. "Thank you, Tina." She just hugged him back. "Do you want to talk about it?" Mike sighed: "There is not much to talk about. The football players just quit. What's worse is that they don't want to try and become the men they are deep down. They just throw away everything we have achieved. And it's not just their loss, but Finn, Puck, Sam, Artie and me, we all lose that same chance and they don't even realise it." Tina simply listened.

"Tina."

"Yes, Mike?"

"I'm going home. I just want to...I don't know. Do my homework I guess."

"Okay, let's go. " Tina grabbed their bags and reached for the jersey. She gave Mike his bag and held out the jersey. "No, I don't feel like wearing it. It's not that I won't play Saturday, I'm just not wearing that. I want to be me for now, not some stupid football jock."

"Okay, I'll keep it. Is that okay?"

"Sure." Mike grabbed her hand and the boom box, he nodded to Brad and they walked out of the auditorium.
