After an endless seeming flight in which Jane had realized that she hadn't prepared how to surprise Maura exactly, the brunette walked out of the airport into the sunshine. The heat was making her sweat under her clothes. She was rather dressed for cool weather because Boston was turning colder with autumn being around the corner.

After shedding her hoody and storing it in her duffle bag she glanced up to see an unmarked police cruiser arrive. Some detective Sanchez from SFPD had promised to pick her up from the airport. Jane watched a tall and muscular man step out of the car and thought that his appearance screamed police officer. No good choice for an undercover operation. If everybody else at SFPD was like that it made perfect sense that they had sent Maura onto the mission.

The detective greeted her with a smile, and they shook hands. "Detective Rizzoli? I'm detective Sanchez. Nice to meet you." He stated politely. "Nice to meet you too." Jane replied and noticed that he expected her to put the duffle bag herself into the trunk. Probably because she was a female officer cavalry didn't count. Not that Jane minded but she somehow disliked Sanchez right away. Even if she couldn't quite tell what it was, but something on him provoked a deep sense of repulse in her.

The more when he began to speak up during their one-hour drive, the more she began to understand that her gut feeling about him was right. "So, Dr. Isles?" he rose his eyebrow. "Tell me about the prank you planned." He grinned.

"it's a secret." Jane muttered, not willing to give up more information than necessary.

"I heard that she's going to Boston. You know what we call her here?" he smirked, and Jane tilted her head in know.

"We call her queen of the death." More smirking on his part and cringing on Janes. Hopefully, this ride was going to be over soon she thought. Otherwise she might not be able to control her fists. Sanchez chuckled and pushed a toothpick between his teeth to chew on it.

"Why do you call her queen of the death?" Jane asked after rolling the term around her mind for a few minutes. She didn't like the sound of it and wanted to protect the poor blonde because she thought that it was highly unfair.

"Because she is as cold as the dead." He replied and confirmed her worst fears. Jane understood better what Maura had meant by saying that no one had even made it through one cocktail with her before. Again, she asked herself if people like Sanchez had made Maura that awkward or if her awkwardness had shied them away. They didn't know her and probably had never taken the effort to do so the brunette concluded.

Sanchez who still chewed on his toothpick chuckled. "She is a good ME though. Seen from this point you are lucky that she'll work with you." They exchanged a quick glance before the detective focused back to the road.

Jane who had enough of the talk about Maura deflected the subject towards the case. To Janes relieve, they spent the rest of the drive exchanging information. The tall man spit his toothpick onto the pavement and motioned Jane to follow him into the police station after he had parked his car in front of the building.

The building was old. This is were Maura works, Jane thought in amazement. She couldn't believe the effect everything had on her just because it was related to Maura somehow. She silently followed Sanchez down a long aisle. Did Maura ever come up here? She doubted it. Unlike in Boston, she wasn't welcomed at the bull pen which made Jane swallow hard.

After introducing her to his partner, Sanchez dropped heavily into the chair at his desk, motioning for Jane to take a seat in the guest chair.

He laid out the files of the victims in front of her and she feigned to shuffle through the papers. Having studied the files in Boston thoroughly already she didn't need to read the printed papers. Instead she began telling them about the murder victims in Boston.

Detective Louis, who was much younger than her and much more sympathetic than his partner listened carefully and kept asking questions. He somehow reminded Jane of her brother Frankie and she mostly directed her words towards him.

Louis was sitting on the edge of Sanchez desk, wearing a neat grey suit and a matching colored tie. His hand flew over the paper as he took notes with a concentrated expression.

"So, we basically have nothing." He summarized. "I mean except for the knowledge about the victims." He added.

"Nothing." Jane confirmed. "And its time to change that."

He looked at her in a very serious manner and nodded. "Absolutely!"

"Yeah yeah. Louis you are going with Ja.. I mean detective Rizzoli. I have more important stuff to do." The tall man said, rubbing his belly to sign that he was going to have a lunch break. Jane checked her watch. It was barely 10:30 in the morning.

Realizing that she hadn't eaten since leaving Boston her stomach began to rumble. "I know a nice café down the street if you are hungry." Louis stated. "No, I'm fine." Jane assured him. "I just need some coffee and directions to your snack vendor."

The young detective scrunched up his nose. "I wouldn't dare to buy anything from the vendor. Its disgusting. But I can organize coffee and some snack."

"That would be great! Would you mind if I go to the morgue in the meantime?" she replied, smiling at the thought of seeing the doc soon.

"Uhhh." Louis shuffled his feet. "I don't think that it's a good idea." He finally stated and Jane gave him a questioning look.

"She doesn't like visit they say." The detective shrugged and Janes heart broke a little.

"The hell. She'll accept my visit." She smirked playfully at Louis doubtful look. He ended up showing her the way to elevator and describing the way to the morgue. Jane assured him that she would be fine and made him leave.

The elevator was even slower than the one at BPD. A thing Jane had never held for possible. She sighed and felt nervous when stepping out of the steel cabin, looking around to orientate herself. There was the sound of classic music hanging in the air and Jane decided to follow it.

After a few meters, she found herself in front of the doors leading into the morgue. Glancing through the tiny windows she noticed the petite who was standing in front of a corpse. The music was coming out of the room and her gowned body was slightly swaying to the Takt.

Jane smiled and took a deep breath before pushing the doors wide open. "Anything interesting?" she asked while walking into the room as if she had done it a thousand times before. Poor Maura almost dropped the scalpel and froze.

"Jane?" she asked, disbelieve in her voice. Then: "Jane!" now the brunette could hear the joy. "Yes. Life is so boring without you. Hence, I thought I might visit you." She tried to sound serious, but Maura saw right through her tease.

"You are really missing me, are you?" she teased, knowing that it was the truth.

"Maybe a bit." Jane smirked while using Maura's reply from their last surprise encounter and the blonde laughed.

Jane rounded the steel table and glanced at the body on it. "Ugh. What happened to him?" she asked.

"You are not going to puke, are you?" Maura used the opportunity to tease her again.

"Me? No, never have! Especially not when seeing a body."

"You were pretty pale though when I found the bullet in Nairobi." Maura chuckled and Jane made an indignant gesture.

"Oh please. Must have been the light from the morgue that had me look pale." They chuckled at their jokes.

"No, seriously. I'm here because of Mr. and Mrs. Jolly." Jane became serious and Maura glanced up from the body to study her.

"We have been able to link three couples murders now. This is getting serious. We have to find whoever did this before they can kill again." Jane informed her. Maura made a pensive face. "I cant imagine how?" she slowly said, still thinking.

"Neither do i. Yet I'm here to team up with the detectives working this case in the hope that we will come up with something. Although I'm not sure of how big of a help this Sanchez will be."

Maura's soft chuckle filled the air. "He's not going to be of any help at all. Better don't count on him. But his partner detective Louis is actually very good."

Both looked at the door from where they could suddenly hear someone clearing his throat. Detective Louis held two cups of coffee in hand. Jane had no idea how long he had been standing there and tried not to blush at the thought that he might have overheard their flirting earlier. She wasn't ashamed of being a friend of Maura's but flirting in public made her feel uncomfortable.

Louis on the other hand had blushed because of Maura's compliment. He held out his own coffee to her. "Thank you, Dr. Isles." He said and she gave him a smile. "Its only the truth." Maura stated in a typical Maura way which was dry and serious and rejected the coffee with the argument that she already had had more caffeine than was healthy for her.

"I didn't know that someone noticed." He said in a flabbergasted way and Jane chuckled. "I did notice too." She thanked him for the coffee and took a sip only to have Maura scold her for drinking coffee close to the open body.

"Your rules said no puking. But you never mentioned any rule against drinking coffee in the morgue." Jane pouted playfully to the young man's amusement. She hoped that he would see that Dr. Isles was everything else than cold. Even if she had only four more weeks here, Jane wanted somebody to like her. Of course, not as much as she did like her but still.

"If you want to drink your coffee here in the morgue go over there." Maura motioned towards the sinks and Jane padded to her designated spot. "Its not my case anyways." She muttered some protest, enjoying the first sip of the brown fluid.

"So, how are we going to prove if its Mr. and Mrs. Jolly or anybody else?" Maura asked while weighing the organs. Louis was standing next to Jane, giving her a puzzled glance.

"What do I know? Where are they now anyways? Has anybody kept track on them?" she asked.

Louis cleared his throat before speaking up, feeling obviously nervous because Maura and Jane were staring at him. "We have lost them a few weeks ago. How about you?"

"Same." Jane sighed. "If you ask me: their behavior is pretty suspicious." The young detective said.

"I agree." The brunette stated. "Maur, where could they get the poison from?"

"Arsenic has been used in rat poison up until the late 90's. You could buy it at any drug store. It can also very well come from some private barn. But if you want to buy it nowadays you need a special permission which is usually hard to obtain unless you are a farmer."

Jane silently digested the information. "So, not really a lead either." She mumbled.

"No, but we already talked about it the last time I was at the BPD."

"I have an idea." Louis suddenly said. "Just let me check on it. See you at the bull pen later?" he asked Jane who agreed.
