The water was slowly filling the tub and Jane watched in silence after making sure, that the temperature was right. Her mind was occupied with her slipping the pet name earlier. She couldn't even remember ever calling Gabriel a pet name. It had always been Dean or Gabriel. Yet, with Maur it had come all by itself.
When she heard a soft knock to the door, she called Maura in. "I have eaten up everything." The blonde said and thanked Jane, stating that it had been delicious. The brunette smirked. "Don't tell ma that I can cook." She joked. "Because then I will always have to help her in the kitchen with family dinner." She winked at Maura and chuckled. "I don't know if I'll ever understand the dynamics between you. But I think its sweet." The doc said, while eying the bubble bath.
Jane rolled her eyes playfully, glad to tear Maura a tiny bit out of her sadness. Maura padded to a cupboard and pulled out some candles. "How about you?" she asked while lightning them.
"What about me?" Jane asked puzzled while the doc began to place the candles strategically.
"When was the last time you showered?" Maura asked and made Jane smirk. "Do I smell?" she sniffed into her armpits. "Guess you are right. I saw that you have a shower in the guestroom. I'm gonna take a shower there." She replied and saw Maura shake her head and laugh. "That's not what I meant. I meant…" she cleared her throat.
"I meant why don't you join me in the tub?" the blonde continued nonchalantly. "Its big enough for two."
Or even four maybe…. Jane thought as their eyes locked. "No sex. Just relaxing." Maura said. Jane glanced at the tub which by now was filled with water and bubbles and had a smell of lavender.
"Uhm. I'm not sure Maur." She said while shuffling her feet. Everything in her wanted to take a bath with Maura and maybe do more… Maura switched of the light which left them standing in a warmly lit room full of heavenly smells. The temptation finally became to big to resist and Jane wordlessly started to unbutton her oxford-shirt.
They didn't dare to look at each other while they undressed. Only when sitting on opposite sides of the tub, their bodies hidden under the bubbles, they locked eyes again for an intense glare. It made Jane wonder about their obvious chemistry.
Closing her eyes, Jane inhaled the scent and let her mind drift to wherever it wanted to go. It felt so nice to lay in the warm water and only when she felt her body relax, she realized how exhausted she had been.
"You are not falling asleep, are you?" Maura poked Janes leg teasingly with hers after they had been hanging on to their thoughts for at least 15 minutes. Jane opened her eyes slowly as if in trance and gave her an indignant look which made Maura chuckle.
"Sorry. Couldn't resist teasing you." Maura apologized. Maura benched forward and Jane couldn't help but look at the appearing boobs with their stiff nipples. The blonde was just beautiful she thought.
For the fraction of a moment it appeared as if Maura was going to say something, but then the doc leaned back against the edge of the tub.
R&I
The ringing phone in the middle of the night made Jane jump out of bed. Its been quite a while since she had been awoken by the sound and was wide awake now. Maura's phone was buzzing its way dangerously close to the edge of the nightstand, while the doc was sound asleep.
How could Maura not hear that? Jane wondered while realizing how exhausted Maura must have been.
"Maur." Her hand gently pulled at the doc's shoulders, trying to wake her up. The blonde mumbled something incomprehensible and Jane shook her again. This time a bit harder. Then her own phone began to ring, and she picked up almost immediately.
"Rizzoli." She answered. Her eyes were checking on Maura while her mind was tempted to tell dispatch, that Maura was unable to take the call because she wasn't feeling well. But that would uncover that they were sharing a bed. And she didn't think that the doc would be okay with that.
The dispatcher on the other end informed her about another murder which could be linked to their series. She also informed Jane that she hadn't been able to reach Dr. Isles but would try again.
"I'm going to take care of it." Jane promised the dispatcher, hoping not to sound too crazy or anything adding that she would pass by Maura's house to check on her before driving to the crime scene while glancing at the petites body next to her.
"Maur?" she whispered while benching over the sleeping blonde so that she could whisper into her ear. The doc shifted and moved into her arms while sleeping. Suddenly Janes hand lay on one of her breasts and she felt the nipple harden under her touch.
Maura moaned. "Don't stop!" the warmth of the petits body and her face against her neck made Jane shiver. The breath stroking her skin drove Jane crazy. She cleared her throat. "I wish I didn't have to." She whispered hoarsely.
"Please Jane. Don't say that you cant." The doc pleaded sleepily, and Jane felt her moving impossibly close to kiss her neck upwards to her jawline.
The words got caught in her throat when Maura's hands came to caress her back. She kissed Maura's cheek, giving a small moan herself. "I can feel how you want it too." The docs words made her shiver again. Yes, the doc was right. Jane wanted it too. Then their phones began ringing again.
"Not now. Please." Jane didn't know with whom Maura pleaded but she could feel her words. It made her wonder while the doc reluctantly peeled herself out of the embrace.
"This is doctor Isles speaking." Jane heard her say. Then a glance at the brunette who in the meantime had switched on the light on her nightstand. It was a soft light and Jane liked it. "I'll be there in half an hour." Maura sounded all professional, her voice calm, although her face was red from arousal.
"I'm sorry. I tried to wake you." Jane said helpless. She too felt aroused and sorry, that they had to go to a crime scene. "I'm sorry that I came on to you. I know that you didn't… I thought that you wanted…" Maura stated slowly.
"Don't be. I'm not sorry. It was very… uhm…. Hot." Jane replied with a smudge grin and blushed herself.
R&I
Maura turned into the driveway of a big house 30 minutes later. Jane unstrapped her seatbelt and watched the scene. Crime techs were all over the place, preparing their gear. Maura had google mouthed her for the whole drive and the brunette smiled. By now she knew that the doc did that when being nervous. But now that Maura was getting out of the car, she was pulling on a professional attire.
Gone was the giddiness about their little interaction earlier and Jane too pushed the thoughts aside while a young officer informed them about the case. "Mr. and Mrs. Smith, both 38, neighbor called the police after hearing two gunshots.
Jane turned her head, seeing no other house in a reasonable distance to hear two shots. "The neighbor was coming home from a party. As he had drunk too much, he was walking home and just passing the house when they got killed. He immediately called 911." The officer explained, reading her thoughts.
Both bodies were laying in bed as if sleeping when Jane and Maura entered the bedroom. It was almost spooky, Jane thought. So silent, almost peaceful. Nothing like most of the murder scenes she got to see, where blood was everywhere and everything screaming violence.
"Where are your evidence bags?" Maura teased her with a gentle nudge to her side. Jane took the offered gloves from the doc and chuckled. "In my duffle bag. I got distracted before leaving the house. Like distracted a lot." Her meaningful glance at Maura was answered by a wink.
"Hope it was a good distraction." Maura said while crouching next to the bed to look at the female body. Jane knew that the blonde was fishing and felt that it was a good sign.
"Yes. A very good one." She said nonchalantly, aware that people around them could hear them. She crouched next to Maura, looking to what the doc was doing. Jane immediately saw a familiar round shaped whole in the abdomen of the woman when Maura lifted the shirt.
"I bet we will find the same with the husband." The doc mumbled.
"10 victims Maura. What the hell is going on?" Jane replied unnerved while getting up to face detective Louis who had been watching them in silence. His face was pale. "Are you okay?" Jane asked and he swallowed hard. He nodded yes, obviously not daring to speak.
"Why don't we go outside to question the neighbor who called the police?" Jane offered and touched his shoulder. He nodded again, this time gratefully and they left Maura with the crime techs at the scene.
