Author note: Let's see what is going on in Mike's mind during the tackle and afterwards. I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Do your job

"Do your job. Do your job. Do your job." It had become a mantra for Mike during the game. The only way he could focus on the game instead of on the girl lying there on the field. But that mantra failed as he saw her run over the field with the freaking ball. What was she thinking?! All the guys of the other team would go chasing after her. 'Do your job.' He had to pay attention, follow her, because she had that ball. 'Do your job.' Running after the guys from the other team, heading to her. 'Do your job.' He saw Sam take one down. 'Do your job.' The guy he was assigned to curved off, trying to lose his chaser. 'Do your job.' It happened as he looked back to her, another freaking number four, it was becoming his least favourite number fast, tackled her from behind, throwing that fragile body on the ground. He felt the impact in his heart, it stopped for a second, he was sure of it. He heard nothing, he only saw her lying on the field, not moving. 'Shit, she wasn't moving', as he realised this, he was moving. Running to her, losing his helmet, crashing on his knees next to her. "Tina." Please let her be all right, please, please, he begged to the heavens. She wasn't moving, nothing, not even her fingers, still clutching the ball. Wait! Was she breathing? She had to breathe, she couldn't be dead, she couldn't. He wouldn't survive that. He couldn't see her face, he wanted to see that beautiful face, her gorgeous eyes. 'Don't turn her' a voice in his head said. He knew he shouldn't do that, the medics should do that, but were where they? Why did it take so long? "Tina." Mike said, hoping she would respond to his voice. Someone knelt on her other side. Mike looked up, looking into John's face: "Is she breathing?" John turned her around so carefully, shining something in her eyes and finally, finally she moved.

"Did we win?"

The relief Mike felt flooded his system. She was okay, she spoke, she knew where she was, what she had been doing. Mike helped her up, drawing her to him. "Mike." The most glorious sound of her voice. "Please don't scare me like that again." He pleaded as he hugged her, needing to feel her. John tapped his shoulder and nodded to the sidelines. Mike supported Tina, not ready to let her go just yet, and walked with her and John off the field, where John could really check her for injuries.

Luckily the injuries didn't seem to be severe, though Tina would probably would have a stiff neck, shoulders and back the following day. Because of the adrenaline Tina didn't really feel any pain, but Mike knew she would feel it after the adrenaline wore off.

Mike sat before Tina looking into her face: "Just sit out the rest of the half, it isn't long anyway."

"Mike..." Tina started.

"No Tina, please sit here. If you feel up to it you can do the half time show, but if it hurts too much you can sit it out." Mike said forcefully. The thought of sitting out the half time show was horrifying to Tina she had put in so much, especially with the costumes. And to be honest she did feel her shoulders and back. Tina looked at Mike: "Okay, I'll sit it out."

"Thank you." Mike gave her a quick kiss and ran back to the field.
