Are we alright, now?
Saturday night found Mike and Tina at Santana's house at the private party for the Glee kids. The party at school had wound down without any incident. Mike and Tina had spent the day together, Mike had given Tina another massage and they had spent a lot of time listening to music, singing and dancing. The party at Santana's was a typical Glee party with lots of singing and dancing. The Sunday was spent with their parents. Mike and Tina went to a nearby woods for a long walk and picknick with their parents. They closed the day at a restaurant for dinner. All in all a relaxing day.
When Tina and Mike returned to school on Monday they found that Mike's prediction came partly true: the football players were all celebrated as champions and no one paid any attention to the Glee girls, but at least they weren't being ridiculed. And zo it seemed as if the game hadn't made any difference, although Mike was very pleased to see the football team treating the Glee members a lot better, which in itself was a small victory. The real surprise came at the end of the day. After the last lesson there was a small ceremony to put the trophy in the admittedly rather empty trophy case and of course the entire school was present.
The team was gathered around the open case, Finn as captain lifted the trophy high. "This is for the school, may more follow. I want to say a few words before putting this beauty in the case." He said. "We want to thank our coach." A lot of cheering went up. "and the staff who are always there for us. And I want to thank my team, without you all we wouldn't have won. Great game guys." All students cheered, whistled and hollered until Finn lifted his hands requesting silence: "But most of all and especially I want to thank Rachel, Lauren, Mercedes and Tina." At this the football team cheered, which surprised Mike while the rest of the students remained silent and were clearly wondering what was going on. "Without you girls we wouldn't have been able to even play the game, we want to thank you for that." Finn finished. While the girls accepted Finns words, everybody applauded. Mike could see Tina blush. Then after Finn had p laced the trophy in the case Karofsky stepped forward. Mike saw the girls shuffle closer together, they were a little nervous, he was also nervous, you never knew what Karofsky would do.
"Well spoken Finn. I'd like to say something on behalf of the team. We have never really liked the Glee club, especially the girls and we have never treated you with respect. After this game however Mike rightly set us straight, making us understand how much you have done for us all during the game. So to thank you and to make sure no one will ever forget how much you have done for this win, we have requested that this picture is displayed with the trophy." With that Karofsky held up the picture frame for all to see. It remained silent for a short period while everyone took in the picture but then the Glee girls laughed. "Thank you, all of you. We really appreciate this." Rachel said. Karofsky nodded and placed the picture that was taken after the Thriller/Heads will roll with all the Glee members and football players in their zombie gear smiling broadly, in the case next to the trophy.
A few minutes later the hallway was nearly deserted, the Glee girls were still surrounding the trophy case, admiring the trophy and picture. Mike was leaning against some lockers, waiting for Tina, watching her with a smile. "Hey, Mike." Karofsky said as he walked to Mike. "Hey David." Karofsky looked at the girls: "They really like it." "Hmm." Mike nodded. Then Karofsky held out his fist. "Are we alright now?"
"Treat them well and we'll always be alright." Mike said as he bumped his fist against Karofsky's. Karofsky smiled and walked away. Mike pushed himself away from the lockers and stepped behind Tina: "Ready to go?" Tina looked up smiling. "Yes." Mike placed his arm around her shoulder and together they walked away.
